  1. I would like to use ECC for the reliability and not so much about the performance. Why do you suggest the intel 11400/10400 yeah?
  2. Where the place I'm located, getting refurb XEONs are quite tough. I can only get really old xeons that are like 10 years plus. This also limits my capability of upgrading in the future. I am able to source a Ryzen 3 4350G Pro easily though which is why I selected it. Correct me if I'm wrong but won't I have trouble booting into the server if im using CPU without a GPU? I'm sure there is a workaround but wouldn't having a desktop also make it easier to troubleshoot stuff? Unfortunately, I have trouble sourcing the ASROCK Rack server boards also.
  3. Hi, I'm building an entry level server that will be mainly running a whole bunch of node-red automations, hosting influxdb and grafana. In the future, there will more complex automations running on the system with the possibility of machine learning and image processing. Currently, This server will be running 24/7 for at least 5 years. I need a simple reliable server at a budget that has room for upgrades. I have looked at server grade processors which are far over my budget. Hence, I plan to go with a Ryzen 3. To make the system more reliable I would like to use ECC RAM. Based on the ASROCK B550 Pro 4 page, Renoir APUs support ECC RAM. Will a normal Kingston DDR4 PC2666 ECC 8GB RAM work in this system? The main reason why I'm going with the pro series because its stated that only the pro series supports ECC, is this true? PS. Is there any other things I should look out for to make the system reliable and running continuously?
  4. They are the same price as the jetflos. If converted into USD its about 12USD
  5. Actually I have narrowed down to the jetflo 120 and af120 not sure which to get. Jetflo clearly have a btr airflow but its very noisy and vice versa. im looking at anything around this same price range.
  6. Hi,I'm building my first PC with the following specs :- Ryzen 1600- Asus PRIME B350 PLUS (ATX)- MSI RX 580 GAMING X 8GB- 2x8GB RIPJAWS V 2400- 250GB SAMSUNG 850 EVO- Corsair CX650M 650 Watt (Semi modular)Now all thats left is to buy a case. I planning to build a case in a desk like 2 years now when I have the space at time. So I'm not really looking for a long term case. My question is can I buy a cheap case like Armaggeddon or Segotep cases? What are the downside of it?My current options are the Armaggedon Decatron T3Zand the Segotep K6 This cases are super cheap. So most people say cheap cases have bad air flow but these looks fine and I will replace the stock fans with some good quality fans. Then some say cheap cases have bad cable management but they both have plenty of holes and space at the back for cables. So what else should I be looking out for? And also can anyone recommend any good cheap case fans? Thank you very much!
  7. Hahaha yeah that is true, I actually have been wanting to buy a desktop since last year but have been waiting because I heard of Zen and Kaby Lake coming out. But I don't think I need thunderbolt or fancy stuff like that, a few USB 3.0 and 3.1 and DDR4 RAM is good enough. Thats why I was planning on getting the MSI B150M Night Elf, only thing I'm worried is will the chipset bottleneck anything. But from what I see Kaby Lake is just a slight upgrade for Skylake and its upgrade is more towards the laptop side. So I think I will wait for awhile and see if any news is released then I will probably get a Skylake. Thanks a lot for the help, really helpful. Cheers!
  8. Oh I see, So if you were in my shoes would you just get a skylake now or actually wait? And is Kaby Lake actually coming out in August or is that only for the mobile version?
  9. Thanks for the welcome! So if the price doesn't drop, will the Kaby Lake or Zen price be about the same as Skylake? And if so is it worth the wait? Because I'm kinda suffering doing my work with my laptop at the moment
  10. Hi, I currently have a laptop that runs on a i7-4500U@ 1.8GHz and turbo to 2.7GHz. I'm a uni student and do 3D designing, progamming and gaming. My laptop doesn't seem to be able to support my apps that I run anymore and giving lots of problems. Hence, I plan on getting a desktop. Since GTX 1070 is coming out soon at a really cheap price I plan on getting that. However, I still can't decide on my motherboard and CPU. Firstly, should I wait for Zen and Kaby Lake (If it comes out in Q3 2016) and hoping the price of skylake will drop or should i just get a skylake now probably i5-6600. Secondly, since this is my first build so I don't really plan on overclocking, should I get a cheaper motherboard. I was thinking of the MSI B150M Night Elf. Its pretty cheap and has plenty of IO and a bonus that it looks nice. So is B150 chipset good enough for my usage? Any reply is much appreciated. Thank you very much!
  11. I did see a few reviews about i5-4690k and heard it was pretty good. But I was thinking of getting skylake mainly. I will definitely take it into consideration though. Thanks for the help! =)
  12. Hahaha yeah I know there is really no such thing as fully future proofing your system but what i'm just trying to do is be able to play games at relatively low graphics in 5-7 years time. And at least make it durable. I don't plan on changing my CPU and motherboard and just upgrading the rest.
  13. Hey, I'm planning on building an above mid range gaming PC at a budget that is also future proof. This is my first time building a PC so I have been doing research for a few months and more to come to try to learn as much as possible. That's why I'm only building it this summer. My plan is actually to build a base PC and slowly upgrade it along the way since I'm just a Uni student on tight budget. I have a PSU, a moderate graphic card and an old case donated by a friend which I plan to use until I upgrade eventually. I'm hoping that this can last for about 5-7 years with me upgrading little by little along the way. So all I need is a good mobo and CPU. I plan to buy basic RAM and storage and upgrade it later. So i need help picking a gaming mobo and CPU that is cheap and future proof. So i was thinking of going skylake CPU and mobo with DDR4 and that support SLI/Crossfire. I was looking at many reviews that says i should go for i5-6500 and that its the most value for the buck. Some say it can overclock to 4.5GHz and can compete with i5-6600K. Is that true? If not what should I consider. For mobo, I was looking at Z170 chipsets specifically, Asus Z170 Pro Gaming, MSI Z170a M3 and Gigabyte Z170 Gaming 3. I don't need that many ports, as long as it has atleast one M.2 slot, one SATA Express, two PCIEx16 that supports SLI/Crossfire and USB3.1 on board preferably to connect to front panel. Most importantly I need it to be durable and be able to last long. So which should I get? Additionally, I'm getting 8GB ram, should i get it single or dual? If single I can expand to 32GB in the future but if double only 16GB. And should I get the high performance that runs at 2600MHz since it is only slightly more expensive and it look cool? Lastly what cooler should I get, not water cooling at the moment? Plus, my keyboard, mouse and headset are red and black so I would like to go with a system that is red and black too preferably. Would really appreciate any comment or suggestions. Thank you very much. =)
