  1. I assume we are talking about motherboards here and for me it goes Asus
  2. I use avast! as well and I had a little bit of fun purposefully downloading viruses (on a VM of course) and seeing if it would pick it up. I'm glad to say it picked up 19/20 I tried, which is better than windows default security which only picked up about 10/20. I haven't tried any others but I'm happy with Avast! now I've removed that stupid "Your virus database has been update" speech. -Pow3rCut
  3. The Asus PB278Q is a really good monitor if you can afford it, -Pow3rCut
  4. I really love the NZXT Phantom Full Tower (special addition red) that I use as my main case, I love the futuristic design, and this would be my preferred Full Tower case. The cable management is good (although it is a large case) However for a mid tower case I wouldn't go for a Phantom 410 instead I would get the NZXT Crafted Series LEXA S really beautiful design. -Pow3rCut
  5. To me windows 8 is just windows 7, stabler since they removed the problems from XP now! And with a pretty start menu, so I really don't see the problem with upgrading infact I recommend it. No compatability issues that I have encountered, and no bugs. My only gripe is that the Top Left hand corner shortcut bugs me as when you are trying to click on File in progams it switches you to the previous full screen app. But I can live with that, overall I would say that it is an improvement and that you should try it. However it can take some getting used to, give it a few weeks (like the SubTract suggested). -Pow3rCut
  6. I hoping that they really push OLED monitors, that and the new graphics cards would be amazing! -Pow3rCut
  7. Lets have a look shall we: 2x Monitor (acer 24" and LG 21") 1 Grundig Elegance TV 1 macbook pro A Set of Senheiser wireless headphones A pair of speakers 1 wallet Cyborg Keyboard Cyborg R.A.T 3 Roccat Sota Mouse Mat Apple Remote Post it notes Pasberry Pi The inards of an old dell iPhone Hairbrush (don't ask me why I don't even know) -Pow3rCut
  8. You are going to get an overwelming number of PC votes (me included here) as this is a computer community! PC Advantage: Graphics, you can do other stuff-eg Photoshop, Mods the list goes on (see the people above :D) Disadvantage: Not exactly cheap Console Advantage; Exclusive Games Disadvantage: PC is superior for the reasons above
  9. I once again recommend the SSD then PSU, I personally have a small 150GB SSD for my most important apps (or the ones with the longest loading times) and a large 2TB western digital caviar green for less important apps and storage. PSU allows you to do more with your computer later (but don't blow your whole upgrading budget on it) -Pow3rCut
  10. That is what I was thinking but I think (don't quote me on this) that the parralla use a nomal cpu to control which allows the 64 stack of CPU's to do all the stuff that normal CPU's can do
  11. I was browsing through Kickstarter the other day when I noticed this: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/adapteva/parallella-a-supercomputer-for-everyone?ref=category I was obviously extremely curious when I saw it and the price tag, £200 for a 64GHz "computer" (I am hesitant to say computer at this stage as it seems to be similar to a raspberry pi and it wouldn't have any of the conventional computer bits, pcie being the main problem), but I am wondering if we expanded on this to work with a conventional motherboard and devs started implementing it into they're programs.... Well the possibilities are endless. Plus the thunderbolt external PCIE that Linus did a review on the power of a gaming rig would be crazy. Just wondering what your thoughts are on the matter... -Pow3rCut
