  1. Hey guys, I am looking to upgrade my GPU and Monitor (for gaming) next and need some help. The budget for my GPU I set myself lays in the region of a GTX 1070. 1080 seems too expensive to me. For the monitor however I am willing to invest a little more since I find that it’s a little more future proof than the GPU :). I’m mainly looking into 27 inch 1440p monitors. In specific I was thinking about the Asus PG278Q or PG279Q since I read everywhere what a big difference 144+Hz makes and that you’ll never go back… you get the point I am a little confused when it comes to 144Hz. I mean if I max a game out and get 70 FPS with the 1070 for example. Then the monitor will basically show me 70Hz or am I wrong in this assumption? So I would have to turn down the settings to make use of the 144Hz? So in that case the price for the 144Hz monitor would not really be worth it, would it? Are those extra FPS displayed worth setting down the video settings just to get 100+ fps displayed or should I just save the money and go with a good 60Hz IPS monitor? Thanks Chris
  2. Thanks, I'll look at some Sony cams and looking at secondhand cams sounds like a good idea too. Saw that a lot of used cameras are sold with spare battery and accessory. I could probably save some money there. Those camcorders are a little to big to carry around in my opinion.
  3. have a galaxy s5 mini. I love 4,5", hate not being able to reach the top of the screen with my thumb when using the phone with one hand.
  4. Hey guys I'm planning a trip to japan in a couple of month and am looking for a good camera for my usage which isn't to expensive. I'm planning to make a nice little vacation video at the end but also want to be able to take pictures. I doesn’t need extremely high res, 1080p should be enough for my use but what is important to me is that it should be portable. I want to be able to carry it in my pocket. Since I'm a student I don't want to spend too much money. My limit is at about 300$ (just the camera without chip etc.). What is the best solution in this price range? Does It make sense to invest in a camera in that price range or should I just use my phone camera (Galaxy S5 mini)? I was looking at action cams. Since I do a lot of sports I’m sure I would find pretty good use for it after my trip, but I’m not sure how fitting it would be as a vacation camera. Especially since I don’t have a display (except Hero 4 silver) and don’t know what’s in the picture. And how is the photo quality? GoPro Session (185$ in my country) or hero 4 silver (300$) and Sony AZ1 (185$) and AS50(200$)) https://shop.mediamarkt.ch/de/foto-video/videokameras/actioncams/sony-hdr-az1/idpc5hbrzafg https://www.interdiscount.ch/idshop/product/action-kameras/928812_ER-8835216867329/sony-action-cam-hdr-as50-action-kamera-montier/detail.jsf Or would I do better getting a normal compact camera. To be honest I haven’t done too much research in that area and am a bit overwhelmed by the wide range. But moste of them seeme to be in a higher price range. Found a Sony DSC HX90VB for 315$ in my country which seems rather decent. (https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product/sony-dsc-hx90vb-black-1820mp-cameras 4555353?tagIds=520) Does anyone have any tips for me? Has anyone made any experiences with a Gopro as a vacation camera? How does that work out without a display? Would be thankful for any tips since I’m new to the camera world (Have never owned a camera besides my phone) and am a bit lost. Chris

  6. Here some comments about monitor specs: Response time: the time it takes for a pixel to shift from one color to the other. So the slower the response time is the more "motion blurring" you will have with fast moving objects. The refresh rate is the number of times a image is sent to the display every second. For competitive gaming you want an high refresh rate to get information earlier than your opponent. (Both monitors have 60 Hz) The input lag/display lag is mostly not given by manufacturers. It describes the lag from electronics of the monitor. The RL2455HM I think has about 10ms, which is ok, don't know what the other one has. So for gaming I'd say the RL2455HM has a slight edge. If your not planing on gaming I would go with the one with the best color reproduction. It's hard to go by the manufacturers specs when choosing a monitor. I'd try to find third party reviews or specs. Of course there are other factors to look at besides pure manufacturer specs like which video inputs you are planing to use, glare and viewing angles of the monitor, if the height is adjustable, aesthetics, etc.
  7. I think my brain couldn't handle five monitors
  8. Yea I don't like multiple windows on a screen either. But I guess on a 24" it's suboptimal anyway. I think on a ultra-wide it would be a different story
  9. Yea that's what I was thinking.. Don't think I could go without a second smaller monitor to the side.
  10. Hey guys I’ll be honesty, I really love the idea of 34 inch ultra-wide monitors and as a gamer I think it’s awesome that more and more games support this. Played Fallout 4 on ultra-wide at a friend’s place and totally loved it. Sadly, I don’t own one but I will definitely consider buying one in e year or two once they hopefully become a little cheaper (Plus I’ll probably need a new GPU for a 1440p one). However, I am also a huge fan of dual monitor as well. So practical for schoolwork and also or having the browser or a YouTube video open while gaming. If you would have asked me a while ago I would have sworn that I would never go with only one monitor again. This might have changed now. I heard ultra-wide should be very efficient for school/work because the aspect ratio of two windows side by side on a 21:9 is supposed to be pretty awesome and more natural. But I guess gaming with a second Window open wouldn’t work. So maybe an ultra-wide and a normal 1080p combo would be the way to go. For you guys who already have an ultra-wide or are planning to buy one. Can ultra-wide totally replace a second monitor or do you still use a monitor next to the ultra-wide. I'd love to hear your preferences on this topic edit: are there any 21:9 and 16:9 monitor combos that match? I mean aesthetically
  11. Thanks for all the answers, I decided to keep the cooler. Quite happy with it so far, but the stock fans are loud .. at "quiet" settings its ok, but as soon as it goes over 40°C it sounds like a jet engine :D. What i don't like about it is that the backplate wasn't tight when I first mounted it. When I put the pump on the whole thing tightened up. Decided to use some plastic washers there to fix it, did you encounter the same problems?
  12. Hi I just received my h100i GTX AOI system. Ordered it because of its good reviews. But I read some more about it and am a little worried now. Are the pump and fans really that loud as some people describe or are they exaggerating?? I mean the fan noise could be fixed but a loud pump would suck. I’m considering sending it back and ordering an air cooler right now. Cheers, Astrus
  13. So I downloaded the SeaTools and did the S.M.A.R.T. test and all it said was "pass". So i used a program called Disk Checkup, which gave me the "S.M.A.R.T. Info" in the uploaded ".txt" file. And i heard the sound each time I started the S.M.A.R.T Test DriveInfo.txt Edit: Found the sound in a youtube video, still not sure if its normal Edit 2: After reading more of the comments this appears to be normal with this HDD, disabling the APM apparently solves the problem.
  14. So I bought and installed a new hard drive yesterday. It’s a 2Tb Seagate Desktop ST2000DM001 HDD. In general, the hard drive is very quiet, but every 5-10 minutes it makes a short high pitch noise, almost like a scratchy beeping sound (Don’t know if that makes any sense xD). I'm not used tho those kind of sounds from my old WD hard drive. Anyone know if this is normal or did I get a bad hard drive? Thanks
