I would go one step further and say some games need to be played on their primary input method only.  For Example CS:GO any input method but the M+K is an afterthought.  And in the case of DS anything not a gamepad was an after thought.  I would argue a more traditional M+K RPG Control Scheme would break the game.  One of the key mechanics of the game is that navigating your inventory and menus doesn't pause the game.  The amount of time it takes to scroll through tabs and equip and unequip items is key to the game play.  It makes it inadvisable but not impossible to re-equip mid fight.  More hot keys across the top, or a cursor in the menus changes all of that.

Now the M+K controls are a mess in general for DS but when the developers want you to play with a gamepad why should they put the effort into a control scheme that the rest of the game is not designed around.  If game pad is not for you, period. then I guess Dark Souls is not for you.  But that is on you not the game at that point.

So I guess my point is DS PC Port was a mess, flakey, buggy and a pain in the ass to run.  And FROM deserves all sorts of criticism for that hot mess.  But the game is meant to be played on the game pad if they failed anywhere it was not just explicitly making it a requirement.  Though we all know how much FROM hates explicit instructions ;-)

Do you know this little tube with this paste known as thermal paste? It seems to be important... although I didn't think the same when I build my first computer. Looks like the contact between the fan and the CPU was good, because it survived for a month...
