Is having retort that gets laughs from jackasses all you value about yourself? Seems to be all you got going on.

I skimmed for a couple hours. Wan Show does not have re-watch value. I'm not a journalist who's going to waste many hours searching sources. You think I make money off this shit or something? Maybe somebody else will come along like "oh, I know the exact episode; here's the link and time stamp"; until then, what I said he said, is what he said. I also don't know how the conversation lead to that. "correct you" on what.
The jackass to genuine nerd ratio is too high for me to frequent this site; so yes, I disappear... often, from here.

I'm not aware of an option that hasn't used muxxing though.

Why? The optical can be converted in the plug body. This gives you an electrical connection at source and destination, but a sealed optical system that would not be prone to dirt. Not a single core I grant you, but a 19 fibre link ran at 1.7 petabits over 41miles recently. SPDIF was running on a slow protocol using an old laser (in the TOSLINK implementation, SPDIF was the protocol which could also be used over a coaxial connection) both of which limited it, not the quality of the glass. Fibre design has come along lots since 1983 when Toshiba launched TOSLINK

"OMG, a signal repeater... wow, so much compute." Said nobody competent in the subject matter. Differential signals are nothing new, and require literally 0 compute, and equal trace length matters there. DATA is ALWAYS in bits; and the thunderbolt controller in the computer does the multiplexing, not the damn cable. Man, Displayport to VGA adapters would really blow their minds. "Let's compare a thunderbolt cable to a USB 2.0 type C cable"... "nobody's twisting their mustache to rob you"... I beg to differ; in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Apple had some round-about legally removed way of sponsoring this without disclosure, to make their shit look like it's 1000 years ahead of everything else. This is a far cry from the Mythbusters level testing I respected and enjoyed as a kid.
It's like they all fucked off, smoked some epic pot, then looked at some rainbow pictures. That's how intelligent this was. I have experience with smoking pot daily for over a month... this is what that's like; incompetent jackassery.

I didn't feel like retyping all of it. DIY optical thunderbolt and/or DP.

EDIT: Oh right, this is tech quicky specific suggestions...

I think they did. It wasn't plainly titled. It was something like "doing what youtube won't" or "unsung heroes" or some shit, but I'm 99% they have.

Update:
I've decided to try to buy a bricked 980ti and get values / part numbers for the display output components. I'll update you all when I make any further progress

Supposedly an iGPU or 2nd Nvidia card makes this easier. I'm working with poverty budget, and I suspect others are too. This was a splurge purchase at $160. The performance per dollar though (when it performs at all) is great. Playing Arkham Knight maxed except AA, because no, was cool. I think the stutters I did see were more to do with texture loading or some similar annoyance.

Thread solved... had to remove washers from cooler in order to make sufficient contact, even though the use of washers are required in the manual. Card only goes up to 60c now without washer attachment and felt more solid contact-wise. Weird.

Just a tip for that simulator, if you right click a resistor, and go to "sliders" you can make it variable. That way you don't need to draw in potentiometers with one pin disconnected.

I built this because I didn't want to pay over $100 for a Lian Li or Dan Case case. Feel free to ask any questions about how you can replicate it. Build pecs are- reference RX 480, i3 6300, 450 watt SFX power suply, and some random Seagate 3.5" HDD.

This game. Hard to run, but looks amazing. http://store.steampowered.com/app/346110/ It could end up replacing Crysis 3 as your rediculous benchmark. I've plaid it on my 480, but only get 20-30 fps.
