  1. Hello everyone, i would like to upgrade my current CPU to a newer one, because i got back into video editing and therefore need a little bit of help with my decision... My current setup is: PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bjF7Mc CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5 GHz Quad-Core Processor ($219.54 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: Thermalright HR-02 Rev.A(BW) 73.6 CFM CPU Cooler Motherboard: Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($386.49 @ Amazon) Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury 8 GB (1 x 8 GB) DDR4-2666 Memory Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury 8 GB (1 x 8 GB) DDR4-2666 Memory Storage: *Samsung 860 Evo 250 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($59.49 @ Amazon) Storage: *Samsung 860 Evo 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($148.93 @ Amazon) Storage: *Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($44.83 @ Amazon) Storage: *Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($44.83 @ Amazon) Video Card: MSI GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8 GB GAMING X Video Card ($414.99 @ B&H) Power Supply: be quiet! STRAIGHT POWER 10 CM 600 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply And i would like to upgrade to this: PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WhXrq3 CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor ($174.99 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($33.33 @ Amazon) Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard ($114.89 @ B&H) Memory: Crucial Ballistix RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory CL16 So basically i would like to upgrade my CPU and RAM (and therefore need a new Mobo aswell) while keeping my PSU, GPU and Storage drives. I do use the PC for gaming aswell and would like to play current and upcoming titles in full hd, no need for 1440p or higher. Is there anything you guys would recommend me to rethink/change, or does it look fine to you? Thank you in advance
  2. i have no clue, that's why i asked
  3. I'm from germany, but buying from the US might actually be cheaper for me... but wouldn't my cpu bottleneck the 2070?
  4. Hi guys, sorry for bringing up this post again, but my GPU is starting to get hot (while playing overwatch) and i also got some bluescreens out of nowhere.. so is there any reccomendation you can give me for a GPU-upgrade for about max $500?
  5. Thanks for your suggestions - i think i'll wait for ryzen 3000 then
  6. Hello, i built a custom PC some years ago and am now considering upgrading some parts but don't know if it's worth it or if i should just build a new system.. I am mainly playing games in 1080p and just feel like my hardware is getting old and might need to be replaced (especially RAM and GPU). 7. 1. Budget & Location Up to 2000€ (Germany) 2. Aim Mainly for gaming (no high end 4k stuff, just normal 1080p gaming and some rendering) 3. Monitors 2-3 (no monitors needed yet) 4. Why are you upgrading? The old pc is simply running old and its time for an upgrade Hi everyone, first of all, thank you for taking the time to read this and maybe helping me decide, what to build. I want to build a pc for some not very high demanding games and also for some rendering stuff, like music-videos. Also i would like to build something that will last me for like 5 years (if this is possible). I am a bit of a Nvidia and Intel fanboy, so please keep that in mind if you are posting something I made some builds the last days, but really don't know what to go for and would like to have some different opinions, before posting, what i thought of buying.... Thanks for helping in advance
  8. This looks pretty good! But i am not sure if the GPU is enough for VR? I thought i need like 6GB VRAM for "good" VR gaming, or am i wrong? And i am also a little bit of a nvidia fanboy (please dont hurt me) so i would prefer a 1060/980ti or smth like that
  9. Hello there, here i am again asking you readers for help. This time i am building a computer for a friend of mine, who wants to use it for gaming mainly and also be able to have some VR experience for about 1000€. 1. Budget & Location The Budget is at 1000€ max. (a few € above would be fine, too, like 1030 or 1050 i guess) 2. Aim The aim is mainly to be able to max actuall and upcoming games (or at least play them at high settings) with stable 60+ fps. I would also be happy about some entry to mid level VR experience (at 1080p). 3. Monitors One or maybe two monitors will be used at 1080p. 4. Peripherals No additional peripherals needed 5. Why are you upgrading? My friends pc is really really old, so the time has come to get a new one to be able to play with us others I was thinking about something like this: PCPartPicker part list: http://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/7cYY9W Price breakdown by merchant: http://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/7cYY9W/by_merchant/ CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (€238.38 @ Amazon Deutschland) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 54.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (€22.99 @ Amazon Deutschland) Motherboard: Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (€141.90 @ Mindfactory) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory (€77.99 @ Amazon Deutschland) Storage: Samsung 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (€59.28 @ Mindfactory) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (€53.85 @ Mindfactory) Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1060 6GB GAMING X Video Card (€334.05 @ Amazon Deutschland) Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case (€62.89 @ Amazon Deutschland) Power Supply: Corsair Builder 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (€45.94 @ Mindfactory) Total: €1037.27 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-09-01 19:46 CEST+0200 Note: The CPU Cooler is just for the basic usage! Before ever thinking about overclocking the CPU, the cooler will be replaced. But this will happen in a year or even later on. Thank you very much for your help!
  10. Sorry for the repost, but do you guys think that going for a haswell build will be "cheaper" while still contain a very good gaming performance?
  11. Would you guys recommend to aim for ddr4 and buy new ones, or reuse the ddr3 ones?
  12. Thank you for the first suggestions guys! I will take a closer look on em and contact the buyer to make things clear about the reusable stuff. Feel free to post more suggestions, if you get a new idea and thank you very much
  13. Yup, that's the reason, why i was thinking about something like the 4690k ... ^^
  14. To be hones with you, i don't know all the details... i just got told, that he got an SSD, HDD, OS, RAM and optical drive, i could reuse... the rest should be new (within the budget) edit: i think it is DDR3 ram
  15. No, as i said, peripherals are already bought and don't need to be included
