My opinion is  : never buy new L glass if you won't be making money with it.

I was shopping for a 70-200 as well a few months ago. It was either a f/2.8 or a f/4 IS. I kept looking on the used market and ended up finding a virtually new f/4 IS for 620€, owned for 6 months and never used, still under warranty for a year and a half, bill of sale and all.

So if you're not in a hurry, take some time to research different markets, you might end up saving quite a bit of money. It's also worth noting that glass doesn't really age at all, if a lens has been used and cleaned properly, it will take as good photos as its first day out of the store.

Yup, I did the same, bought the body (760D), and a first lens, nifty fifty in my case, then invested in more glass later down the line. It helps understanding what you can and can't do with a specific focal/aperture range, and invest incrementaly as you want to make progress and try new things.

I think I would have got borded very quiclky if I had it all at once.

But to each his own, if you just want to get things done at once (family/travel photog), then it might indeed make more sense to cover as much focal lenght as possible.

Nicely composed, panned almost correctly, but without a 1-axis IS, it can be tricky I guess. 8/10

Nothing interesting, no real composition, it's shot in direct sun, so colors are kill. 2/10
But I get it, new lens and all, it always takes a while to start putting it to good use

It's a really good shot overall, and I'm sure you have a happy client,  9.5/10. Just two things I didn't like : the highlight on the left of her head and chest is a bit much, it grabbed my attention at first.
The other thing is her face, her skin is too shiny imo, it either needed some make-up, or a bit of work in post to soften it.

But still, amazing work, it's quite rare to see a pro shot here, so I can only say congrats really. Was the model "provided" by your client, or did you hire her independently ?

9/10 - I LOVE the bokeh in the background. I just wish there was something special such as a specific part of the cat in focus to draw the eye to something specific.

My photo was shot on Canon 85mm f1.8 on Canon 70D with 4 flashes and 1 reflector. I shot this image in pitch black on a paid gig for a fitness clothing company. I edited in Lightroom and Photoshop to take a light stand out the background.

    Alright alright ^^"

7/10 nicely executed and the subject is rather interesting, but the background is too busy and kills the symetry.

    Also nice pants.

I liked the idea of a fighter jet pilot taking the time to "shoot" one of his colleagues, and I've never seen another shot depicting the same kind of scene.

    ...but I completely agree.

Although doesn't it apply to like 99.99999% of any picture in the world ?

There's a lack of highlights, too bad, with a nice open scenery like that. Also I can see you were going some sort of comfy feeling, but the composition is a bit awkward with the table and the tree.

Very good on the execution. I would have liked something a bit more "alive" color wise.

Sorry, but that's a 10/10 for me, I just love the 50/50 composition, and the not too strong movement, plus it works fine with neutral colors, which I always appreciate.

Here's one from yesterday. I usualy don't post full res pics, but this one has some details in it, so why not. (if it causes any issues for anyone, let me know and I'll replace it with a regular one)

7/10, I like the color shift from the window to the sky, and there's a dynamic coming from the clouds. But it would be better with the window shown completely imo, it's kind of a main subject in this shot, and the fact that it's cut like that is a bit frustrating to me. Also, since you were going for a long exposure, why not go all the way down to ISO 80? Or were you limited to 30s?

Anyway, here's a completely casual shot. A friend of mine who built a functional replica of an "euthytone" catapult for his exhibit on industrial design (for which I created CAD based animated movies), based only on original blueprints and formulas. It can shoot broom handles up to 100m away, and punch a hole in a car :D.

9.5/10 really nice picture. It would be a 10 for me if it wasn't for the partial desaturation.

Here's one I took yesterday, I just liked the randomness of it, and the colors really don't bring anything to it, so B/W it is.

The way the light behaves on the metal gives it a little something indeed. There's no real composition though.

I just got back into photography, I bought a 760d with a 50mm 1.8 to get started, now that I have a car and some spare time, I'll be able to wander about and find new subjects.

Until now I was using a Sony H50 bridge, which is getting quite old, and has a lot of limitations, that kind of got me bored lately.

Anyway, since I don't have any good recent shots yet, here's an older one of mine.
