Temps for both cpu and gpu under full load are between 45 and 50 depending on how warm or cool it is in my room at that moment.  At stock clock speeds they rarely break 30.
 
Future plans include adding a couple more LED strips to better illuminate the darker areas, and I may use a piece of real glass for the window, I've babied this thing and its still got micro scratches and not so clear areas.  Also if I ever find another good deal on a 980 hydro copper I might go for it.

Have you considered crippling debt?

Forget future games, a 970 isn't cutting it to max current games in 1080 all the time.  If max settings are a big thing for you, you will be supremely disappointed with a 970, and the 1070 might be a better solution for you.
 
If however, you don't mind running high or medium high.. a 970 is just fine.

I use a wired 360 controller.  I bought a steam controller and gave it a fair shot, but I wound up going back to the 360 controller.  I'm ok with wired, as I have no plans to ever try to sit across the room or anything, and it's nice not having to worry about batteries.

I have an mITX board in a Silverstone TJ-07... Only temporarily of course... For 2 years so far...

I made the right choice with my money

You would need to buy a cooler period with the 6600k, not just a better one, as it doesn't come with a stock cooler.

Here is the problem with that, no one is investing in education in mass enough to make sure millions within the coming decades will have the education to fill every little niche in the jobs market. You have to remember, (and im speaking as an American so theres my bias out there) the government doesn't give 2 shits about your well being. I believe it was Stanford that did a study that since 1960, 1% of legislation has come from the needs of the people, guess who got the other 99%, lobbyists. So with no education to fill jobs niches, coupled with the boom of graduates coming out of china, i believe 60-80 million, countries like the USA and those in Europe will have millions of "bums" on the street.

Nothing's going to beat the NH-D15. If your case, motherboard and wallet are big enough for it, it's second to none. If you can't quite afford it, the NH-D14 isn't far behind.
 
If you want something smaller and/or cheaper, check out the Cryorig H5 series and H7, the Thermalright True Spirit, anything by beQuiet or the Phanteks TC-12DX.
 
I wouldn't do anything smaller than a 120mm tower cooler for a 6700K unless it was an ITX build, so the L9i is more or less out.

Anyway- I've always had complete budget builds.  For the last 20 years, every PC I have built has been with one goal in mind, the best price to performance ratio for the money I had to spend at the time.  It's always resulted in various combinations of hardware that I wasn't really happy with.  My last PC was actually not a very bad rig at all, sporting an i7 3770, 16gb ram, and a GTX 970... but it looked horrendous.  I want something that will handle AAA titles in 1080 at nice settings and frame rates, AND look good on my desk, damnit!
 
So I sold that piece of junk and started ordering again.  This time with a slightly bigger budget than I'm used to working with - and while not with a specific plan, at least some sort of foundation in mind.  I wanted a black and white themed build, and I wanted it to be cooled with a custom rigid loop.
 
I started this build in early March, and I had one setback.. I wanted it to have a GTX 1080.  So I ordered most of my parts, and a GTX 960 as a place holder until the 1080 launched.  I could have just gotten by with anything really, but my wife's computer could use an improvement from the Radeon 6790 she's been using for a long time.
So, in order to have a functioning system in the mean time I decide to order an EK full kit.  I figure it's a decent investment because I can add to it later on.
 
I'm browsing Kijiji(Canada's version of Craigslist?) a couple weeks ago, and I come across a brand new EVGA GTX 980 Hydro Copper GPU for $500 CAD.  The deal is too good for me to pass up.  The 1080 would be nice, but realistically it's overkill for me, I have one 1080p 60hz display, and this is probably less than half of what I'd pay for the GTX 1080 and waterblock/backplate.

Leak test was a success, so here it is all assembled and closed up.. in the dark.

This is probably far from done.  I still have to dial in overclocks, and frankly I like tinkering with it more than I like using it.  In the future I would like to move to a D5 pump, maybe add another video card if I can ever find the same one again.  I will probably redo the tubes quite a few times, this was my first time working with rigid tubing and some of these are in here purely because I ran out of tubing on mistakes and practice bends.  
 
Oh, temperatures.  Stress testing the CPU alone the temp seemed to peak at 30 degrees C.  An hour of playing DOOM and having the GPU throwing heat into the loop brought the cpu to 41 and the GPU to 44.  I can live with that

Here is my custom build pc. First this is an old pc and in near future i plan to upgrade CPU, Motherboard and probably RAM to DDR4. But in the mean time I decided to make some modifications to my pc case they are not big but I this when the mobo upgrade comes it will all fit together nicely. My current specs:

I wanted it to have a GTX 1080.  So I ordered most of my parts, and a GTX 960 as a place holder until the 1080 launched.  I could have just gotten by with anything really, but my wife's computer could use an improvement from the Radeon 6790 she's been using for a long time.
So, in order to have a functioning system in the mean time I decide to order an EK full kit.  I figure it's a decent investment because I can add to it later on.

I've seen some go used for a reasonable(for a titan) price.. If you really can't be satisfied with 'just' a titan x

Good way to get youtube views.. but.. it's probably smarter to see what the actual performance comparison is like.  Cuda cores aren't everything.  I'm sure nvidia was very careful about exactly how fast it made the 1070 to coincide with current hardware and the price they want to launch it at.  The 970 was a huge success, I would assume they would want to recreate that again this time around too.

Being a long time watcher of LMG content I finally decided it was time to sign up to the forums to see what it's all about. I've just completed my first watercooling build, incorporated into a desk case I designed myself. I've finally given it a name I'm not too happy with but here it is all the same, SpokeDesk V1.
 
The desk is purely made from 1.6mm mild steel. I work for a sheetmetal engineering company and so I did most of the manufacture and fabrication myself on CNC machines.
