  2. Really hoping someone can help me out here, because I'm pulling my hair out over here. I figured what better place to get help than at LTT. I have been building systems for years. I recently put together a build for a 14 year old's birthday present. The build contains the part list here: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/SwoRNLeaDejZ/saved/Z3Hb8d So the build went fine, everything was perfect. When I went for the first boot, there was no image on the screen. So I started to troubleshoot. When the system is booting, the motherboard has a series of LEDs that cycle during the boot process. CPU, DRAM, GPU, boot device. It goes through all of them fine and the boot device light stays on. Windows isn't installed, so not surprising. So to rule out a faulty graphics card, I popped in a GTX 970 I have, and low and behold, the system boots, posts, and everything is great. So it must be a dead graphics card. Weird, but whatever, not unheard of. So we RMA the graphics card through Amazon. Just got the replacement card today. Installed it, booted it... And... Nothing. No image on screen again. So now I'm convinced it's got nothing to do with the graphics card and must be something else, right? What are the odds we got two dead graphics cards? Impossible right? There is a blue LED above the power connector on the graphics card that is illuminated, so I'm assuming it's getting power. My 970 was fine. To note: I stuck the first 570 into my personal rig to confirm it was dead and it resulted in the same thing. No image on screen. That's why I assumed it was dead. Haven't tried that with the replacement yet, but I'm all ears.
  3. Nah, just the single 120mm fan that came with the Hyper T4.. Was actually going to swap out for a Corsair SP120, but stuck with the stock one.
  4. When I installed the H100i I used Arctic Silver, and it was well spread and the block was still making great contact with the CPU. Good suggestion though. For what it's worth, I used the same thermal paste with both coolers.
  5. Alright, so originally when I built my rig, I used a Corsair H80i GT. I switched to an H100i GTX about 6 months ago. Last night, I got a blue screen, the PC rebooted, and blue screened again as soon as the Windows login screen showed up. I couldn't really figure out what was going on right away, then I noticed (at the second blue screen) that the LEDs on the H100i GTX were bright RED. Bright RED means CPU overheating. Obviously, I suspected the H100i GTX had failed. I rebooted into BIOS, and idle temp on the CPU was 59C. Normal idle temp on this rig with the H100i is about 27-32C (normal temps under load are about 55-62C). Now at this point, it was pretty clear that the H100i was the cause of the issue. I tried to get into Windows to diagnose the problem a little more, but was unable to get past the login screen. I kept blue screening over and over again. This morning I went down to my local hole-in-the-wall computer parts store (no MicroCenters or anything like it nearby) to try and get something I could use as a bandaid for the time being. I don't think the H100i is under warranty anymore (didn't buy it new) but I am going to call Corsair on Monday anyhow. I ended up grabbing a CoolerMaster Hyper T4 for $29 as it is inexpensive, and not a bad looking cooler. I plan on possibly ordering the NZXT Kraken X52 if Corsair doesn't want to play ball on Monday. Here are my questions: 1.) The Hyper T4 is somehow achieving BETTER temps the H100i GTX was achieving even when it was working fine. I was getting 27-32 at idle, and 55-62 under load. The Hyper T4 is sitting at 24C idle, and only going up to about 45C under load (used Aida64 and Prime95 to test), Anyone have any idea why such better temps on a $29 air cooler as opposed to a $129 AIO? 2.) Is there any way I can test the H100i to make sure it is DEFINITELY a faulty pump before I call Corsair? I would assume the symptoms I already noted are indicative of a bad pump. 3.) Would it even make sense to spend the money on the Kraken, given the fact that I'm getting better temps on such a cheap air cooler, and I will likely not see a vast improvement (and add more points of failure to my rig by going back to liquid)? Thanks for any insight/opinions. Oh, and for reference, I am using an Intel Core i5 6600K running at 4.6 GHz.
  6. Yea, this is kind of what I assumed, and when I started to look into it, that was the basic opinion. It will work, but both cards will be limited to 2GB of VRAM.
  7. Alright, so basically, I have a 4GB EVGA GTX 960 SSC in my rig currently. I just was given another 960 for nothing, completely free of charge. I understand that the 960 in SLI is basically pointless, as the gains aren't substantial enough to warrant it. As a disclaimer, I would NOT even consider this if I had to pay even a nickel for the second 960. That being said, here is my question: the 960 I have in my rig is the 4GB variant. The 960 I was given is an MSI GTX 960 2G Gaming edition. The second one has half the memory of the one I am currently using. Would this pose any problems in an SLI configuration? I realize that the performance increase is going to be minimal at best. I get it. I will eventually probably try selling the second 960 for like $75-$100 or something, but I want to run them in SLI at least temporarily to try it out, but not if it is going to cause all kinds of issues. Thanks in advance.
  8. All of these hacks stem from Twitter. There is obviously something going on with Twitter. If I had to guess, most of these hacks are a result of the Twitter leak with all the account info that was out there for the highest bidder. Most of these accounts that are being hacked probably didn't listen when they were told to change their Twitter passwords. Once they have the Twitter account they go after the email associated with it. Once they have that, they can gain access to any account that's associated with that email. We're not talking about 1337 hackers here, it's just kids with too much free time.
  9. I built in the S340 last month, and I might be wrong, but I think there might only be a single 120 mm mount at the top, but 240 support at the front.. Again, might be wrong, but I think I mounted two fans at the front, one at the back, and one on top for that reason specifically.
  10. I completely forgot all about the Ethoo Pro.. There is like 3" of clearance above the motherboard, and it might actually work quite nice for what I am looking for.. Thanks for suggestion!! Plus, the windowed version is only $100, and it comes with a PSU shroud.. I may actually pull the trigger and order it after work.. Anyone wanna buy a 450D?? lol..
  11. Alright guys, so it seems like every single time I come by this forum, it's to ask for advice.. but hey, the responses I have been given to this point have been DEAD ON, and helped me make some amazing choices in the past (needed help on a PSU and some fan issues, both solved with minimum facepalming). Today's issue, is I need to find a new case. I built my rig back in February, and when I did, I chose the Corsair 450D. It was my first build in a long time, and it seemed like it would fit my needs well. It did at first, but at this point, it's driving me insane. It just isn't big enough for what I want to do. I started with an H80i GT on my 6600K, but recently got an H100i GTX for a steal, and the 450D just can't handle the clutter. Cable management behind the motherboard is atrocious on the 450D as well. Below is a brief overview of what I have in my rig, and what I want out of whatever case I choose to use. My rig: ATX motherboard, EVGA 960 (4GB), 6600K, H100i GTX, (1) 3.5" HDD, (2) 2.5" SSD, 4 x SP120 120mm fans, 2 x 120mm fans that came with the H100i, 5.25" optical drive, 5.25" card reader, EVGA SuperNova G2 750W PSU, NZXT Hue+ What I am looking for: Must support ATX Must support (2) 5.25" expansion bays (content creator, need the card reader and optical drive) Would prefer push/pull config on H100i at the TOP of the case if possible Must have at least 2 2.5" bays Must have somewhere to mount 1 3.5" drive (hidden if possible) Ample room for cable management in the back PSU shroud preferred but not required Windowed side panel Must have good airflow and dust filters Cases I am considering, but not sold on: Corsair 650D (doesn't seem like push/pull on top is going to happen, and if I move the rad to the front, I lose all of the HDD drive bays), Fractal Define R4 Window (also doesn't look like push/pull at the top will happen, and push/pull on front means I lose all 3.5" bays) Really looking for some suggestions here on things I may not have even seen at this point. Thanks in advance.
  12. So I just got a corsair H100i GTX in the mail (got it for a great price on eBay). It was used, and I knew that going into it. The radiator is a bit dirty on one side. I've blasted it with canned air, and gently vacuumed the fins. Can I let water run through the fins to get the rest of the dust off, and then thoroughly dry it before installing? I'm out of ideas as to how I can clean it any further. Thanks in advance.
  13. Awesome, thanks for the reply. Do I need a PWM splitter, or will a 3 pin splitter work all the same? Just looked at the Grid v2 and that might be an option, although I don't think I have any USB2 headers to spare..
  14. A little more info. Just checked the motherboard manual, and CPU fan 2 header is a straight 12V header. Looks like voltage control is my only option as far as that header is concerned. Looking at y-splitters to see if I can find one that will allow me to connect the 2 SP120s at the top of the case to the header that the other SP120 is already connected to. Unsure if a y-splitter will independently control the speed of both fans, and until I am 100% sure it will, I am not going to drop any money on buying one. With that info, anyone else have any suggestions?
