I guess it was a teething issue, all seems to be working fine now!

4.5GHz is a very common OC on the i5 6600k

For the voltage try not go higher than 1.35v but if its needed and your temps are cool and its stable you can bump it up a little more

But i highly do not recommended anything higher than 1.4v

I changed the GTX 970 for an R9 390 as well as changing the monitor and the CPU to a 4790k. I also increase the capacity of the SSD.

    All good?

I'll change the graphics card, and since it's AMD I can change the monitor to a non g-sync monitor.

Gaming. (Rainbow Six, CS:GO, The Division etc.)

I'll change it to a 4790K and overclock it. I'll also change the HDD and SSD to something with a bit more storage.

    Hello all!

I'm soon going to be building my first gaming rig, and my primary concern is static buildup.

I understand the risk of static buildup, and that it's safe to wear an anti-static wriststrap, but I'm utterly confused as to where to attach the end of the alligator clip... Some say a PSU plugged into the wall but turned off, others say the case, but which is safer?

If it helps, here are some details:
The floor will most likely be carpet The desk I will be building on will be made of wood with metal pieces on the side and plastic wheels I will most likely be wearing socks because my feet get cold easily I do have a radiator nearby, which is another recommended point to connect to I will be wearing an anti-static wriststrap I thank you all for the help, and this is my first thread so please let me know if I'm missing something.
    Thanks once again.
