    Summary
Louis Rossmann, electronics repairman and YouTuber, has started a nonprofit and GoFundMe campaign to fight to get "right to repair" legislation passed through direct ballot initiatives. For years Louis has talked about the importance of right to repair and how it has become more difficult to repair devices. Louis plans to use the money raised from the GoFundMe campaign to hire the same firm that successfully got a right to repair direct ballot initiative against the automotive industry passed in Massachusetts.

    My thoughts
I think what Louis is doing is important, brave, and awesome. Despite seeing news articles over the years talking about governments talking about right to repair, I've set to see one pass a law in the US. This direct ballot initiative could be the first law passed at a state level and set a precedent for how device manufacturers need to treat repairability going forward. Loius explains in the video linked below that the initiative passed in Massachusetts for the automotive industry didn't cause the manufactures to stop doing business in the state. Instead, it made them change how they operated. Getting tech companies like Apple, Google, etc., to make parts and technical documentation available to consumers and independent third-party repair shops will go a long way in helping reduce the amount of ewaste produced by the US.

sof006 reacted to AlTech in Game Development Studios reportedly asking Xbox to drop Xbox Series S Compatibility Requirement to only focus on Series X
    Summary

Microsoft's Xbox Division is reportedly getting asked by developers to drop the requirement that all Xbox Series X games also support Xbox Series S. According to sources VGC talked to, many game development studios are in talks witht e Xbox Division to ask to drop Xbox Series S support because they believe it is comprising their vision for what they want their game on Xbox Series X to look like.

A big limitation apparently holding back games on Series S is the amount of RAM the console has. The Series S has only 10GB of RAM compared to the Series X's 16GB of RAM.

    My thoughts
Whilst I think some of the complains made against Series S are valid, I disagree that 60fps is a hard to hit target or that gamers lose things so that a game runs that fast. I'm not sure why this developer thinks anything less than 60fps should be the standard or why people wouldn't be willing to make the tradeoff to get 60fps instead of 30fps. I honestly also don't think with these next gen consoles that it even needs to be a trade off. Optimize your game well enough and it should be able to look good and run at a good framerate. If you force Ray Tracing then of course you're gonna get 30fps and a bad time on next gen console. But that's precisely why you shouldn't.

I seriously hope Microsoft doesn't back down because both the Series S and Series X should be supported. If Microsoft backs down it'll be a betrayal to everybody who bought a Series S.

Anyways, that's just my thoughts and opinions.

    Summary
Indeed, on October 11 they have announced their first gaming focused chromebooks just a mere 12 days after announcing they are killing stadia and here's the kicker, they are partnering with Geforce Now, Xbox Cloud Streaming and Amazon Luna. Google also certified these laptops with GameBench in order to claim these laptops have a mere 85ms latency streaming Fortnite and Destiny 2 in 1080p from Geforce Now.

On the hardware side all of them have i5 or greater CPU, 8gb or more memory and 1080p 120hz or greater displays and no dedicated graphics, also for a limited time they will come bundled with 3 months of Geforce Now and Amazon Luna highest tier, some of them will also have a SteelSeries mouse included.

AMD has only old school big cores yet their power consumption is lower while performing close? At worst their platform asks for D5, but it's not like Raptor Lake doesn't benefit from DDR5 either... D4 seems on its way out with CPUs so modernized to D5.

Nah I agree with Google in this regard, if the phone does not meet the requirements it shouldn't be running the OS. When I worked retail the amount of people that would complain that their phone was slow or unresponsive (Usually Android Go) was because the phone was so under powered.

Again with the anti-consumer mentality of car companies.
I get it, it should've been "locked down" to 60 from the start... But remotely taking it away when they have been made aware of it is such a shit move for them to do.
I seriously hate these software locked features when the damn thing is already built in the car... While I get that it's easier for them to basically just make one model and lock down features to create more SKUs, it's still shit move. Especially in this case when the user had access to it and they suddenly decided to take it away without warnings.

    Such a weird statement.

An additional player in the market (Apple) disrupts Qualcomm's near monopoly. If they're unable to do it (as opposed to it just being a year later), that really speaks to how entrenched Qualcomm's monopoly is-- good for nobody. Imagine where Qualcomm's SoCs would be if they didn't have Apple silicon pushing them along.

Then, the assumption that the Qualcomm modem is superior to what Apple would have come up with. Why would you assume that? In all instances of Apple vs Qualcomm silicon that we've seen to date, Apple's is significantly better.

According to a DigiTimes article, due to the ongoing Crypto-debacle, nVidia is trying to back down from some of it's pre-allocated and pre-paid TSMC 5nm wafers - but TSMC is having none of it, demanding that they either eat their wafers (though they may still choose their favourite topping) or find them a replacement customer for those orders.

    HAH-HAH-HAH!
So they claimed they weren't selling to crypto miners, but created hardware specifically for crypto, were sued by stakeholders for finagling their crypto sales numbers, and now this.
Personally, as someone with no real investment or interest in anything crypto, good - the more it all burns down, the better.

AMD is pointed as a potential replacement customer, but as "the most reasonable option", not as a "talks are in place".
On one hand, I hope nVidia fails to find a replacement and has to eat the loss -- only way such huge companies learn is by hurting their bottom lines.
On the other hand, if AMD has more Zen4 wafers, it not only could help with availability, but also maybe with price? At least in the sense of avoiding shortages and preventing a price creep // scalpers.

    My thoughts
This is quite good news that Microsoft of all companies makes a accessory like this.
The market for this kind of gadgets/tools is quite small, and niche, most tools people use are custom made product, "trough 3d printing", or just DIY modding a existing product.
And the products that DO exist, like Singlehanded keyboards, are often quite expensive.

Once the product is releases I think the 3D printing Community is going haywire, with trying to make a ultimate deskpad type tool, making people able to use multiple items all at once, without the need to switch between hub, or adaptive controller.

Lets at least hope Microsoft makes the software of the button Opensource, or based on QMK. allowing even more customization, trough the use of multiple pads, and layered macro's.
especially as it is a Niche market, having  it open source, means more people can work and improve the firmware.
