Hello there! It looks like my local store is about to receive stock on Ryzen 5 5600x's, one of which will be kept for me. I was wondering if this CPU would be well paired with a 3080 for playing at 4k60. I'm currently rocking a 1440p monitor but I'm looking into upgrading when I can find a GPU... Thanks!

Hmm, I'll need to look into this. Thanks

Hey guys, I'm about to set up a game server and was wondering how i could get a notification when my dynamic IP changes, and be notified of the new IP. I've tried talking to my ISP about getting a static address, and unfortunately, they only offer it in their "enterprise grade" packages, which cost at least several hundred dollars. So is there any way this could be done with a raspberry pi or through a local linux machine? Thanks!

Hey guys, so for the past couple of days I've noticed something a little weird but mostly extremely frustrating when browsing with Chrome. Google is literally taking several seconds to load on a gigabit internet connection. First, I had an erreor about their SSL certificate being out of date, when the certificate clearly stated it was valid until March 23rd, 2030. I somehow got it working on Chrome again, however Firefox and Opera are giving me an error ("SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER"). I've tried all the solutions I could find on google but with it not properly loading n all.. it wasn't super successful. Here's a video to show you what I mean. The page finished loading, I can click on what's there but it doesn't show up for a solid 5 seconds. Here are my specs, but this shouldn't be a hardware problem: W10 latest Ryzen 7 1700@3.7GHz 16GB G.Skill TridentZ CL16@3200MHz MSI X370 Krait mobo MSI ARMOR GTX 1070 All my browsers are on my SATA SSD. I've tried flushing my DNS, changing DNS servers (I use a raspberry Pi running Pi-Hole), clearing all the SSL certificates, clearing cache/cookies/browser history, etc... SOLVED Black screen after login Linux Mint
Exos9 replied to Exos9's topic in Linux, macOS and Everything Not-Windows
Ok I'll check it out. It'll most likely work as Mint is derived from Ubuntu EDIT: If I run "startx" in the tty I get "No protocol specified" for about 5 minutes before server shuts down -
So I tried to install Unity3D and it didn't work out. Each time I started it it would crash. Anyways, I moved on and did some stuff on blender. I switch off my computer and restart it a little later, reach the login screen, type in my password, hit enter and after that... A black screen... I could still move my cursor but other than that, nothing. I tried using Xfce and Cinnamon and still nothing but I can still access TTY though... Any help?

Hold on I'll create a new PC Parts Picker thing

Ok I mocked up a quick PC parts picker list. It's 360 bucks and is the cheapest thing I could get with potato grade GPU and a somewhat decent CPU: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/LMQ6nQ Pros: Cheap Might run minecraft Cons: Doesn't look good Is pretty shit If I were you I'd wait a little to spare 500-600 bucks for a CPU and GPU upgrade.

This is the kind of stuff found in 486 PC's I think

Some retro RAM, looked up the name on google and found a bunch of these on eBay: http://www.ebay.fr/itm/Hyundai-HYM532220W-70-8MB-72-Pin-EDO-SIMM-RAM-retrocomputer-vintage/281730600687?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140620074313%26meid%3Dbf61028a6bee4403b8f06c42885f091c%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D360473723459 I guess it's pre-DDR RAM

So... (Very) long story short. I have a non standard HP motherboard with a core I5 2320 and a horrible cooler. I got my hands on a hyper 212 evo just to realize there is a non removable backplate on my motherboard... Is it somewhat safe to zip tie my cooler for 2-3 months before I get my new computer? If so how could I do it?

Yeah but… Don't mock me, it was a prebuilt HP system in which I threw in a GTX 760 and 550W PSU. I've already tried updating my BIOS but I can't find it on Foxconn's website so yeah…

Free Photo Editing Software for Windows?
Exos9 replied to gurnben's topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
GIMP is free but does require a pretty steep learning curve. -
Try to clear CMOS, might resolve the issue. Also try another cable, can be a faulty one
-
Do you have another PSU? If so try it, cause it seems to be a PSU issue
