  1. I'm actually thinking going all in and getting an 8700K with ASRock z370 Killer SLI(maybe should get a higher end one but costs a fortune..) and a 1070 Ti instead of the budget build, because I know I'll just get annoyed in a few years when I'll need to upgrade again. When it's time to upgrade and I if I haven't overclocked the CPU already, I'll do that and toss in another 1070 Ti in SLI (Hopefully I will have won the lottery by then) Checked a video just now with 1070 Ti SLI performance against the 1080 and it looked really promising for a few years, running most games on ultra. Sounds bueno?
  2. Thanks everyone for your time. I'm reconsidering this budget build, and will post another thread with the new one for your much valued input! Cheers
  3. So would you say the 8400 would be running okay with the 1050 Ti, or will it be bottlenecking it? Depending on the games I guess...
  4. Thanks, I'm looking at the 8400 now, makes a lot of sense, and it's €184 here now.
  5. Hi, I'd love some advice on upgrading my PC. The original build from a few years ago was a slim budget one with a H97 mobo, i3-4170, 600w BeQuiet PSU, 2x4GB HyperX DDR3, 2 salvaged SSD's and a free GPU from my brother - Radeon HD6950 1GB. It served me well for playing League and other non demanding games very well. I swapped the old GPU for a 1050 TI the other day, but noticed quickly that I must be having a CPU bottleneck, because in an old game like Red Orchestra/Rising Storm 1 on high settings only pushed the 1050 TI to only 40% but the CPU to above 70% or more on 2 cores + 2 hyperthreaded and I couldn't even get a soild 50 fps. Rising Storm 2 though, I get a solid 60 on custom settings, most lighting effects etc on high, and some detail settings on medium, with GPU working around 90% at all times, and CPU about the same, which tells me with my limited understanding that there's less of a bottleneck in this newer game? What I'm wondering now is, will I ironically nottleneck the 1050 TI by getting a 6600K for overclocking to around 4 Ghz? Worst case I can sell the 1050 and get a 1060 a bit later. New build would be: OC Mobo - 6600K + Cooler @ 4 Ghz 1050 TI 4 GB Old BeQuiet L8 600W PSU (Should still be good) DDR4 RAM 8 Gb (never go over 6-7 usage ) Old SSD's Thoughts? Thanks heaps, Simon
  6. Hi. Wasn't sure if I should post here or under CPUs, but here goes.. Just built a cheap workstation and I can get the graphics part of the 5350 to run properly. I'm running Windows 7 sp1 and have installed everything on the mobo disc that it came with. On there was a Amd All In One package. The problem is that the graphics clearly isn't performing as expected, like the drivers aren't installed. YouTube videos play in like 15 fps etc, windows lag around when dragged around. I've tried the recommended driver pack from AMD and so on, spent hours trying to fix it. When I run Speccy, graphics are listed as Asrock ATI. Device manager had a Windows generic vga driver running (also came on the mobo disc) and when I disabled it the amd driver switched on but problem persists. I had to rush off so currently I'm not in front of the computer, it's at a family members house. Just thought I'd fish for ideas until I get over there again and then I'll update here. Cheers. Simon
  7. Hi. I just got another cheap router to extend our network with, and I've run into some issues. After connecting router 3 the whole network stops working after a while. The setup: Main router/modem ---cable---> Router2 Main router/modem ---cable---> Router3 All routers are different brands. Router 2 I set up easily just by disabling DCHP. Router 3 have one DCHP setting which is turned off, but under WAN settings there's the choice of "Auto Config (DHCP)", "Static IP", or "PPPoE dial-up". Default is set to "Auto Config (DHCP)". I've never needed to change anything regarding DNS or Gateway to connect a router, but could this default setting be causing problems with the assignment of IP addresses? I doubt I have to tell you I really don't know much about this.. Thanks for any advice, Simon
  8. Thanks everyone. I feared that processor wouldn't cut it. Good thing I can put it in another build for the family later and switch for a K quad + K mobo. Thanks again.
  9. Hi all. First post for me. I'm trying to figure out which component is the bottleneck. I'm suspecting CPU, but could be GPU too.The only game I'm having problems with so far is Planetside 2; haven't tried many others yet. My old computer broke down, so I gathered every cent I had left to get a new one and couldn't afford the GPU, so my brother gave me his old one in the meantime. My specs are as follows: i3 4170 3.7 ghz Dual core / 4 threads Asrock H97 Anniversary Radeon 6950 1 Gb, OC:ed @ 900/1350 Samsung 840 SSD 8 gb dual channel memory When the big battles start in Planetside 2, the CPU load is pretty much 100% so I realize that I would need a quadcore at 4ghz or something to be able to run it better. The fps drops from 60 to 30 when shit starts flying and exploding, otherwise the game looks and runs good. The GPU load is not at 100%, and VRAM is sufficient according to Rivatuner. Lowering the graphics settings makes the game run worse. At Very Low the fps is constant 30, tops. Heard someone say that it shifts the load towards the CPU and that's why it runs crappier. What I'm trying to make sense of is if I get for instance a r9 380, will that make any difference for the better, or is this an obvious CPU bottleneck? Hope I make sense and I'm sure I missed something. Bit of ADD here. Cheers!
