I'll never understand people who simultaneously obsess over audio quality while fawning for a (by definition lossy) analog format.

I don't like doing work for experts.

That is because Windows 7 and 8 did not bind the license to your hardware id in the same way as Windows 10 did. While Microsoft checked that you did not change hardware too often when using the same license key, they never associated the license with a hardware ID and thus Windows 7 and 8 never tried to automatically activate.
 
Doing that free upgrade back then made Windows 10 associate the license with the hardware ID so that subsequent clean installs would automatically activate.
 
Windows 11 currently uses the same licensing system as Windows 10, thus every PC that has a Windows 10 license associated to the hardware ID will automatically activate on a clean Windows 11 installation, even without a prior upgrade.

Yes, I downloaded the ISO directly from Microsoft website and flashed it to a USB drive, then erased my previous Windows 11 partition (I was in the Insider Preview) and did a new, clean install.
 
I have my Windows license attached to my Microsoft account, so it automatically registered when I logged into my account. I'm not sure if Windows 7 supported that (it's been years since I ran 7 in any capacity).

While I am not 100% sure that it classifies as tech news. I thought that it was an enjoyment to read the roast, plus it serves as a reminder that not even very smart developers are safe from misinformation and conspiracy theories.

I don't see why you think he is contradicting himself. He specifically states that it might make sense for some people to mine using computers or old hardware they already own, and within the first 30 seconds of the video...
