Any Sub zero cooling systems under $415
BenjaminC replied to Bajantechnician's topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
You're going to need a second one just to run the peltiers, in addition to something beefy to cool the hot sides, like three NH-D15s or Silver Arrow IB-Es. You're looking at $500+three water blocks before you can even plumb the peltiers into your water loop, which you're going to have to have since single peltiers aren't strong enough to mount directly to the CPU anymore. -
The HD 5770 is quite old, it will struggle with modern titles above 720P.

@ApolloX75 @MageTank @Lays OP seems a bit new, I was playing it safe.

$280 for CPU, CPU cooler, and cable extensions
BenjaminC replied to Rayve's topic in New Builds and Planning
What CPU? Every CPU doesn't put out the same amount of heat at 4.5 GHz. If you want to settle for a shorter lifespan for your cpu and lower performance, go ahead. -
It helps if you don't get cheeto crumbs and mountain dew in your switches Really though, go here: http://imgur.com/a/9sHx7 and scroll down to the "soda straw trick"

For complete silence and maximum performance, put your PC in another room and link your display and peripherals with thunderbolt. If you don't use any fans you're limited to heat dissipating no faster than convection occurs in your work space. A large amount of heat will sit in and around your components and your temps will suck. With a passive setup, overclocking is out of the question.

$280 for CPU, CPU cooler, and cable extensions
BenjaminC replied to Rayve's topic in New Builds and Planning
Yes, it will still work as long as you use a BIOS that hasn't had it disabled. I wouldn't recommend that you cheap out on a CPU cooler because a H7 will not give you much room for overclocking, especially if you upgrade to an unlocked CPU. Better to take the hit on a great one now than spend extra buying a new cooler later because the one you bought doesn't cool well enough. -
You don't need RAM specifically optimized for Z170. You just need memory that's on the QVL for whatever motherboard you choose. QVL for the Extreme can be found here and the QVL for the Impact is here. All memory is overclockable, but please do not attempt to overclock memory on a skylake CPU. You're much better off buying faster memory because it'll run at a voltage that's safe for your processor. Overclocking your memory would require more voltage that would damage your CPU's integrated memory controller. For the best memory performance I recommend G.SKILL RipjawsV @ 3200 MHz or G.SKILL TridentZ @ 3200 MHz. What capacity were you looking for?

$280 for CPU, CPU cooler, and cable extensions

It seems like you overspent on the rest of your build, or at least started with unrealistic expectations. PSU cables can definitely wait. If you buy a non-K CPU you'll still be able to overclock it by increasing your BCLK, since you have a Z motherboard. Intel only wants to stop non-k overclocking on non-Z motherboards because they aren't properly equipped to handle an overclocked CPU. Then you would get a CPU cooler. CPU cooler: Thermalright Silver Arrow IB-E ($79.95) Noctua NH-D15 ($89.40) Cryorig R1 Ultimate ($89.00) CPU: i5 6500 ($204.99) Another option would be to buy a very high performance CPU cooler now that you can use later to overclock a very high performance processor, then buy a low end processor and overclock it as much as you can with BCLK adjustments. Then save up and get a proper K processor like a kaby lake once it drops. That way you would have a great CPU cooler, you could get your PSU cables, and your Z chipset motherboard wouldn't be wasted. Make sure you don't ash the processor and you can sell it once you get a new processor to get some of your money back. CPU cooler: Thermalright Silver Arrow IB-E ($79.95) Noctua NH-D15 ($89.40) Cryorig R1 Ultimate ($89.00) CPU: i3 6100 ($123.69) -
Haven't bought anything personally but I've only heard good things from people who have. They usually have pretty exceptional prices especially on older cards, just because of a little scratch or deformation in the molding or something.

It's starting to feel like these holy $hit videos are just the old unboxing/first look format but with the price in the title and the what the product is dumbed down to get more clicks.

Couldn't reproduce in Chrome 49 beta or Chrome 50 dev either, looks like you're right about it being a Chrome 48 bug.- 12 replies

Could not reproduce in Chrome 50 (64 bit) canary, If you'd like I can attempt to install dev but it doesn't look like google offers a side-by-side installer for anything but the canary channel, correct me if I'm wrong.- 12 replies

Beware of the "Enable Experimental Javascript" flag in Chrome
BenjaminC replied to BenjaminC's topic in Forum Bugs and Issues
Yes, I cleared cache+cookies and made sure I could reproduce it before posting. I was also able to reproduce the issue on a separate system running Ubuntu 15.10 and Chrome 48 (64 bit) Stable.- 12 replies

He has something now, from the same architecture as what he's considering upgrading to.

Enabling the "Enable Experimental Javascript" flag at chrome://flags/#enable-javascript-harmony results in most features of the forum becoming unusable. Drop-down menus fail to respond, and text fields for thread replies, thread creation, and private messages only show a background with no option to enter text. Chrome 48 (64 bit) Stable Windows 8.1 Successfully reproduced in both desktop mode and windows 8 mode.

You won't get much more performance moving to a hotter Haswell processor. Especially since you're happy with it as-is, you'll be much better off waiting for Kaby Lake to roll around. It'll bring significant performance improvements over Skylake in the same way devil's canyon did with Haswell.
