" u mean this scrap of silicon and metal no thanks." the person: "but it has a 512Mb radeon graphics card + amd phenom 3 core all for £500" Me: "stop trying to sell me something from the dark ages and go try to sell it to someone who is dumb enough to buy this without knowing what they are buying "

SparkySamZa reacted to Lurick in How to improve wireless speeds?
Have you thought about getting a cheap little 5 or 8 port switch? Something like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122128
You just plug one port up to the router and then plug everything else into the switch.
Beyond that and focused on wireless speed it sounds like you're probably pretty far from the router or running on a very low band which can only be solved by moving closer.

SparkySamZa reacted to SydneySideSteveSomewheres in IEM's for cycling
Would recommend finding an over the ear type arrangement so that when the bud comes out of your ear canal it does not actually fall out completely (due to your checking over your shoulder constantly). Also chose a wired cycle companion, as when the bud falls out it will actually stay somewhere you can re-install it, not floating around some where else (or worse falling off completely)...and distracting from what is going on. !
Those damm car drivers are out to get ya!

SparkySamZa reacted to KingKeith55 in Laptop for Student
You won't be able to play any games really on a macbook. Minecraft maybe, but I'm not sure if CS:GO works on mac (because I don't own one) and even if it did, I doubt a macbook would be powerful enough to run it without lag.

SparkySamZa reacted to Hackentosher in Whats the difference between a laptop and desktop motherboard?
I think everyone above me has just about covered everything, but if I may add, it might be better if you just get a barebones laptop instead of trying to build one. Unless you're @iamdarkyoshi, then just go ham.

Well, their live chat told me it is a mistake, and they are updating it as soon as possible. Might be they'll honor it for those who got chat help claiming the opposite.

I just ordered the pack of 20 3TB WD Reds, I used a company card so if only one drive arrives I'll still keep it and not have paid a cent.

SparkySamZa reacted to Captain_WD in WD Red WD30EFRX 3 TB 3.5" Internal Hard Drive, Pack of 20 $150
Well that seems interesting Sadly I can't confirm this as this is not our official website. You can ask for some data such as the S.M.A.R.T. status or something else to verity that these drives are new and in good health. sadly I doubt that anyone would give away the serial numbers so you can check if these are legitimate Western Digital drives (you can easily check that with the serial number on our website or with our live support).
I would be pretty strange to have such drive for under $10 each brand new so I would always triplecheck that info.

SparkySamZa reacted to NeoFrux in HDD not showing in Windows
Hey now, no need to be rude about it. If you know troubleshooting, you know you start with the basics. Doesn't matter who you are or what you know.
Anyway, the drive gets picked up by other OSes, then? What OSes / utilities have you tried? Are there any devices in Device Manager in an error state, like a SATA controller? And just to make it clear, the drive itself isn't showing up in Device Manager at all, correct? How's the System log in eventvwr.msc look? Any errors or disk-related warnings?
