CBojorges got a reaction from Blue4130 in Floatplane Cost?
I find it dumb to need to create an account for getting prices. I guess it's the same for knowing which creators are on the platform.

I just ignore shorts. After a while, YouTube's app removes that first row of shorts. I guess it ends up learning that I ain't clicking on that digital crack and stops suggesting them at all.

one could say it is greenwashing marketing, to the power needed to get the metal anyways, which could be green or not. still maybe not as bad like mixed metals and plastic pollution?

CBojorges reacted to Needfuldoer in Car blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic system
If you set your mirrors up properly, a regular car shouldn't have any "blind spots". If you can see your own car in your mirrors, they're pointed wrong. You want there to be as little overlap as possible between the side mirrors and the rearview.

My car has the systems you said you want, but they're more of a nuisance than a help. Seeing an orange light come up in the mirror is okay so you don't necessarily have to look at the mirrors to know something's there, but a lot of the time it goes off for dumb reasons (like driving against a jersey barrier). Reverse cross-traffic alert has helped maybe once in the four years I've had it, most of the time it just starts beeping like mad because it detects something moving far away. (It's especially paranoid about cars driving on the road at the end of the parking lot, where I won't be reversing anyway.)

Just get a good back-up camera with a fish eye lens.

CBojorges reacted to manikyath in Is there an asus rep I can yell at anywhere around here?
as required by law, ASUS has to prompt you about the cookies they (optionally) use on their site.
you can either accept their terms, or click the settings buttons to adjust your choices.

the settings are generally either 3 choices:
    - required: the cookies the website needs to.. y'know WORK. (this includes the cookie that stores your choice.)
    - functional: cookies that serve the functionality of the website, but arent strictly necessary (for example, storing your shopping cart, storing your login, etc.)
    - optional:: this is where the ads live.

or you get the 'full D move special' where you have to explicitly disable EVERY ad partner cookie manually, this is usually only done by news websites and the like, and iirc it may actually be illegal in the EU at this point.

i REALLY dont see your problem here. you're looking right past the solution, to find a problem to complain about.. in fact, any websites that dont do this should be your real problem.

CBojorges got a reaction from andm92 in Using PC waste heat to generate power? (Stirling engine project)
The problem with heat is that it radiates In all directions. I assume that for this to work, you would need to water cool all your components so that you capture most of the heat. The problem you'll have next is how quickly you can transfer the heat from the water to that device. Radiators are able to disipate the heat quickly since through all the fins (or however they're called ), they create a very big surface area.

To be honest, I think you'll be better buying some solar panels. Anyway I might be completely wrong so if you do it, please keep us posted.

CBojorges reacted to SteveGrabowski0 in Finding the Galois Field of a number
The only finite fields are of the form GF(p^n) = Z/p^nZ where Z is the set of all integers, n is a positive integer, and p is a prime number. So GF(17) is just isomorphic to Z/17Z, eg, the set of integers modulo 17 with their associated addition, multiplication, and division operations. So it's just the integers {0,1,2,...,16} with the associated addition, multiplication, and division operations in Z/17Z. Eg the addition operation + goes by a + b = a + b mod 17, eg, the remainder of the integer a+b when divided by 17 and similar for multiplication. The only part of the problem that's nontrivial is finding the division operation, which is just finding the inverse table like you said above. Eg like 4^{-1} = 13 since 4*13 =  1 + 3*17 so that 4*13 = 1 mod 17.
