  1. The whole discussion can go on but for me it is done with today. Similar problems will be handled the same way - talk with the user and explain why we chose this path to go and then show him the options and let him choose from those. Thanks for all the replys guys and have a nice afternoon.
  2. That would not be a problem, she would not even need a montior to go because she either works from home or from one of the offices of the company. Either or she has a monitor that she can use
  3. I talked to her supervisor but this dude is not giving a f*ck, so i talked to the IT-Manager today and described the problem I had with her and he said he will take care of that matter. If she wants to come and discuss that matter again with me or one of my colleagues we are sending her to him.
  4. I will stick with the 14" because i already set the budget for next year and calculated with the prices of those. The only thing is that she thinks when you travel you need a bigger screen. I talked to my teamleader about that and the only thing i got back from him was that her complaints are stupid because she is always complaining about everything we do as an IT. The next thing is that she works like 70% of her time in the office on two big monitors that is the reason why i think it is useless to buy a 15" just for that tiny bit of time she works not on those monitors. And also that she can walk out of my office is not really possible we work in an open office environment Just the travel excuse is not enough for me to even considering changing the strategy because then everyone would order the bigger screen. We are normally not to soft to users but i am just to tired of this **** because the user cannot understand the reason why the IT is doing that way. In my opinion the users are more or less spoiled in some kind of way from the IT of the company.
  5. sadly she is that clever and can tell the difference xD But it would be a great idea if the would not know the difference
  6. Hi guys, just had a heated discussion with a colleague about the notebook strategy our company will do next year or this year to be correct. We (my colleagues and me from the IT department) only want either a 2-in-1 Notebook for the sales guys and for the other people that need something to take with you a 14 inch Notebook. Now a colleague from the marketing department asked about a new notebook for her and was shocked as we told her that there are no 15 inch Notebooks ready to order. She called me stupid because people that travel a lot want a 15 inch notebook for sure. I told her most of the people work with 14 inch or less (that is true most people in the company have a 14 inch notebook). Most of our workers use docking stations for the notebooks that is the reason we buy the 14 inch because they have 2 monitors normally at their desk. I wanted to know if it is really necessary to implement a 15 inch option now or not? IMO it is not necessary because everyone that is travelling wants a smaller device the only person that thinks the opposite is her but she would not believe me or my colleagues. Maybe i am wrong and there are other options or maybe viewpoints i did not consider. Thanks in advance. PS: If you want to know anything about the discussion or the hardware just ask
  7. Okay then thanks guys. Will share that with my colleague. Do you want to know how it was going then? Maybe someone will have the same situation sooner or later. Toby
  8. We are flying with emirates and air india
  9. Okay so if i put my toolkit in the luggage there should not be a problem right? That was the same thing i tought. The only thing i need to put out is the stanley knife.
  10. but i need that in order to work would it be okay if you put ot the bits and pieces i do not need?
  11. No there are no new parts. Most of the stuff we got out off old pcs or notebooks in the HQ. I am only worrying that i might have to leave them the components if i do not pack them into my case.
  12. I found this on the internet maybe this can help you with the problem. https://pastebin.com/L3c3rySj
  13. Hi, i am flying to Dubai and India this week because of a business trip from the enterprise i work for. Just wanted to ask what i can take with me in my backpack and what not. I have my laptop that should be fine because colleagues also flew with their laptops in the backpack. But i have components such as RAM and a SSD to carry with me and also i need my Toolkit. So shoudl i put them in the backpack and carry them with me or put them into my suitcase and leave them there? I know that i can take like chargers and stuff in my backpack but i really do not know about the tools, the RAM or the SSD. Would be great if someone knows how to deal with this maybe someone traveled to India or Dubai before with such stuff. The safest would be to just put everything in my case and just check it in and only have my laptop with me on the plane. Thanks in advance Toby
  14. I am seeing an improvement but at the same time i see that my current build is running okayish. Sure some things are slower and some would be faster again after an upgrade. So thats is the situation i am in rightnow. Do i want the upgrade? Heck yeah! Do i need it? I seriously don't know to be honest.
  15. Hi Guys, i am a bit of a struggle right now as i do not know if i should upgrade or not. My current Build is this: CPU: Intel Xeon E3 1231v3 MOB: Asrock h97 Pro4 RAM: 32GB of Kingston Ram GPU: MSI GTX 1070 PSU: bequiet! Straigt power 11 450Watts Case: Obsidian 750d SSDs: 1x Adata 128GB, 1x Samsung 850evo 250GB, 1x Samsung 850evo 500GB HDDs: 2x 1TB Toshiba So before everyone hates me for anything, no i do not want to replace everything. I think about upgrading my CPU, RAM and MOB. I always looked forward to the Coffeelake i7s 8700k and 8700. So therefore i am really interested in those two. Would probably get a decent cooler too because i want something else then this plastic cooler from intel that came with the xeon. There should be nothing about bang for the buck or something like this. But i am a bit curious if it is even worth it to upgrade now. If i did not supply enough information please write a comment and then i can change that. Thanks in advance Toby
