what is your workload as a teacher? Are there any special programms or something? Or just office applications?
Because of real 4k AAA gaming i'd get the 1080ti and definitley not founders edition.

    Also:
    Dont get the H90
    PSU is overkill

If you only get crashing with one software, its that software, not hardware. And if thats your only issue, I don't see any reason to upgrade. GPU is fine for year or two.

Just had this conversation with another member here. M.2 is only a connector. what matters performance-wise is how the SSD is used on the PCI bus. the SSDs that run on 4 lanes of PCIe 3.0 (eg NVMe 950's, M8PE, 600p), they are roughly 3 times faster in transfer speeds and about double IOPS performance (model and capacities will vary). both the 850 and the X400 use the SATA bus, so their performance is about the same. what you get though is two less cables to connect and a much cleaner install.

Frame Drops reacted to frunze in Starting build tomorrow, need some questions answered:
Preferably, plug in the CPU cooler too. Many board sometimes doesn't even want to boot when they detect that no cpu fan plugged in to avoid overheat mishaps. If your mobo doesn't support an integrated gpu-equipped processor (eg. X99 board) then you need to plug in the GPU as well (and then don't forget to plug the PCIE power cable).
And if the GPU isn't needed (to be tested), then yes, it's only those cables attached. And no, your PSU wouldn't be fucked up
And for HDD, it isn't needed. As long as the core component detected in the BIOS, you're ready to go.

If you want a GTX 1070, than i will recommend you to remove that 500 Gb 750 evo SSD from you list & move that money toward GPU.
SSD is not going to increase you Gaming FPS .After spending money on GPU, if you can't afford a decent 240 - 250Gb SSD. Than i will recommend to add a SSD later.
It is very simple to add a SSD later

Frame Drops reacted to SpaceGhostC2C in Fx 8350 platform set
It seems the forum ate my reply. I'll try again:

    1) It depends on the game. It can give you a decent performance, but it depends on which game and which resolution and target FPS you have in mind. I can give you a reference with the FX I have and the games I use, but they may not mean much to you if you are looking at a completely different set of games and screens. As games become more CPU demanding, especially in terms of performance per core as opposed to number of threads, the FX will struggle more.
    2) No, she'll have an overall better performance with the 8350. Single core performance will barely change, and multithreaded performance will be better. Any OC on the 8350 will give her better performance across the board.
    3) the i5 6500 is substantially better than the 8350, at least up to 4 threads, which will rarely be exceeded in the use case you describe. Moreover, it belongs to a much more modern platform (DDR4, PCIe 3.0) which could pay off in terms of future upgrades. I'd say the 6500 is the way to go as long as it's within the budget.
  11. Agree
Frame Drops reacted to SpaceGhostC2C in Fx 8350 platform set
I'd say the GPU will be the limit in that case for most current games even with an FX 8350, especially with some OC (the motherboard can handle something more than stock speeds). At 4.4GHZ, I play Metro Last Light in ultra (1920x1200 60Hz) with two 280s in crossfire, 60fps flat. The only thing I cannot max so far are some AA filters, but those is because of the GPUs (with one I have to set it off, with two I can use the first or second level, the latter accepting 45-60FPs instead of flat 60).

I'm not sure it's a tremendous deal, though. The used mobo and 8GB DDR3 won't cost much these days (probably less than €100 combines, at least in ebay.de). The 8350s are still selling somewhat above €100, which I don't fully understand  So 200 is fine, but within expectations.

I think what you said is right, though: talk to her and see what her needs are and what could potentially benefit her more  (that is, the i5 or the money )

Frame Drops reacted to tabuburn in How to run higher than the maximum resolutions on your display
admin edit: added video inspired by this thread.

WARNING: I haven't seen anyone encountering this but just like overclocking, there is an inherent risk of damaging your display and it may not be covered by its warranty. It may not even be able to achieve the same settings other people are able to get.

Note: I did not make this guide but have used it on all of my monitors without any problems. Credits are due to the ones that originally posted these on another forum.

What this guide is all about is how to get higher resolutions than what your display is capable of. It is called Downsampling. What it basically does is to have your GPU artificially push a resolution that's over what your display is able to do. The impact it will have on your GPU is equivalent to what it would do on a display that can actually output that resolution natively.

    For example:
Your display is natively able to support a resolution up to 1920x1080. Using Downsampling it will send out a signal to tell your display to output a resolution of 2560x1440. Now on a display that can output a maximum resolution of 1080p has about 2 million pixels while a 1440p display outputs 3.7 million. Downsampling does not increase the amount of pixels being displayed. Itcan't go beyond that. What it does is bring that 1440p resolution to your 1080p display and compresses it to fit inside the screen. The effect it has is similar to zooming out on a lower resolution picture.

Below, you can see the difference in image quality on both images taken on the same display. Both images are using the same settings but with different resolutions.

If he wants to upgrade within the year then i3. If he wants a system that would last longer then the FX8350

i3 may have 4 threads but it still only has 2 cores. HT makes the cores work more efficiently, doesn't actually give you another core and thus the 2 cores it has get maxed rather quickly and can cause serious stutter.

    1) Change you GPU with 1070  because 1070 will give some better performance , efficiency, and 2Gb more Vram at same price point.
    2) If you are ready to change your GPU than 750W PSU is over killing for you set up
