Can I draw your attention to what he typed, with clear intent?

that comma before “and not just discriminating” breaks up the sentence and changes its meaning along with his use of the word “just”.
    Essentially now saying
“A joke must be funny and clearly made to be a joke as long as its not just discriminatory”

i, and probably a lot of others on this forum, would appeciate it if you didnt always inject how people are uneducated in very sepecific logical segments of conversation into a lot of your debate replies, it makes you come across as extremely pretentious and like you have a superioirty complex.

I can see why you have a problem with this joke if you read sooooo far into every little nuance instead of just seeing something with the most apparent meaning.

i look forward to ignoring your next reply that tells me im stupid and uneducated and the next random buzzword logic that “owns” me.

sorry, this comment really confuses me, because you've been saying it's bad and offensive and they shouldn't use it, but now also saying "but as long as it's funny and a joke, it's ok".
I thought it was funny and very clearly could tell it's a joke.

IMO, in the strongest language. The only people who would be bothered by these jokes are "straight" people who are unsure of their sexuality.

Twink is a vibe and aesthetic. the word is appropriated from the LGBT community. Not ever is it a word used derogatorily, It's a positive for many. Like being goth. being mad at someone calling another a twink is like being mad at someone calling another person a goth.

So they're agreeing that the $100USD shipping isn't actually $100USD. Converting $100+ to Canadian, I don't see the issue.

LTT is slowly losing their ability to show things, even if they're true, as any person or company can call "inaccuracy" and cause problems. I had given StarForge the benefit before in terms of possible referrals for clients, but this statement of passing the buck is silly. Definitely will not be including them as options.

I was just pointing out the image only referencing China is a bit disingenuous, as this practice isn't exclusive to China.

Unfortunately Toyota isn't the only company to suffer something like this, and they definitely won't be the last. Many large corporations that end up having many international subsidiaries/hubs, and utilize legacy infrastructure, will face problems like this, especially one where administration and logistical operations have been a bit stale. The timeframe of implementation and the active lifespan of its deployment means knowledgeable IT/engineering staff are fewer and far between when certain issues arise.

divito got a reaction from Aasimar in Has your view of LTT or Linus changed?
No. Humans, as with the businesses they run, go through ebbs and flows. Some of the audience members don't have a reflective capacity to understand that things won't always be perfect, and become rigid in their thinking.

LTT has always occupied a certain approach; an essentially, everyman tech and PC enthusiast that would find a visually digestible and entertaining way to show products, news, etc... This type of content and delivery was never focused on rigid and dry technical specifications, and being to-the-second accurate, especially in light of things like a manufacturer updating their website or documentation, or clarifying something in communications after shooting had already completed.

The speed of video shooting and releases obviously compounded issues and has been discussed ad nauseum, but from a practical perspective, were understandable. Holding LTT to a standard they have never maintained before seems like a self-fulfilling prophecy of naivety and ignorance. I'm not sure how someone of that mindset would ever consume any content; news organizations issue correction notices all the time. Are the New York Times, Reuters, or any news organization, somehow untrustworthy and unethical because they correct their content?

The absence of corrections would be a far more worrisome red flag. While Linus can be very opinionated and candid, he's always been fairly personable in reflection and has addressed errors and mistakes with apologizes, and also with defensive actions or justifications.

He's a regular guy, passionate about technology, and that's what a lot of his audience enjoys and why LTT has grown to the level that they have. He and his staff are relatable and approachable. There is personality and genuine interest behind what they do. They aren't some stuffy outfit, pompously droning on about minutia if it doesn't help the story, content, or decisions for the audience. Their content doesn't feel censored by a PR team, churning out boilerplate responses to questions or controversies, or saying the most PC things to maintain some perception of superiority.

The other concerning thing people have been doing, outside of the unrealistic standards mentioned above, is attributing the video shortcomings and mistakes as somehow malicious. LTT isn't Trump trying to sow discontent, or push out alternative narratives and deny reality. They work and grew a bit too fast, a bit too loose, and are forced to correct in post, annotations, descriptions and comments.

They obviously have organizational issues to fix, workflow things to go through, and all of this was already in the background, with the hiring of Terren, and other things they've slowly been getting into place. Unfortunately, with all the channels, and video schedule, progress has been slower than people ideally want.

I was merely pointing out your missing the point. You are basically asking for data to back up some of the common sense that Linus uses in this video.
The video you point to is not a challenge to common sense about the effect of monitors on the eyes, and if you think that common sense is incorrect and should be excluded from the paper, then you should prove common sense wrong on your part, Professor.

blue light is bad for your eyes nobody has ever questioned that
e-ink displays don't emit blue light
you really need a 45m labs video to explain to you WHY that a monitor that doesn't have a LED matrix nor backlight doesn't emit blue light?
if you need a video to explain that then you are a guy fawkings idiots and any knowledge dropped would be wasted on you

The whole "antitrust" thing against Microsoft never made sense to me; there were always fallacies introduced, and other flawed reasoning. There are companies that do far worse now than IE or Edge, and yet nothing is done. But people still have this negative perception of Microsoft.

Oh, sorry. I guess saying they were suggesting there is a link between LEDs and permanent eye damage is a TOTALLY DIFFERENT THING than saying they are claiming normal monitors do eye damage. Not a totally pedantic point to try to make yourself feel better by implying other people are stupid, that's for sure.

Have you considered that maybe you missed the point of the video?

It's an LTT video; not every statement of the script is a thesis that needs supporting. There are literary devices used all over any other Youtube video that are far more problematic if you're being this exacting regarding certain statements.

And yet myself, with no agenda, didn't interpret that at all. If you're relying on your personal and subjective inference instead of an actual quote, you're doing it wrong.
