yes, it should have worked, so no idea.
There's nothing in the manual, try updating uefi, or if there is any setting for the PCI_E3 slot (sometimes, there's a PCIe splitter, and you can set the PCI_E3 to x4, or x2, or x1)

Thanks for your reply ! I updated the Bios just before writing this article, but it did not help. Nothing sadly in the bios , only settings are mentioning PCI_E1 slot which is the top x16 slot.

    this is most reasonable idea.
Do also consider running second adapter, from bottom M.2 to PCIe x4 slot (it the bottom M.2 slot is empty)

I occupy the M.2_2 port with 256GB NVME which i would sack in order to have room for the Intel SSD , sadly doesnt work in that port so yeah..

To be honest, these two SSD cost so much, you could consider changing platform to PRIME X670-P, or wait for the x690E, to get full bandwidth.

Very expensive even used.. that is why i wanted to use them since that is basically only way how to add more storage to my pc without using SATA expansion cards or some 2-4 NVME cards (which would cost me money, i received these Intel cards for “free” so…)

Still i am kinda grateful that atleast one of the cards is working in the slot , i found even some PCI-E x4 Risers for dirt cheap ( these Intel ssds are PCI-E 3.0 so i dont worry about the speed) so i will probably try that. And to be honest MSI X570 A-Pro is not the greatest motherboard in terms of connectivity (doesnt even have USB-C front header)

Dont want to jump to AM5/DDR5 just yet as they seem really unstable at the moment (atleast from my perspective)

Thanks again for your reply ! 🙂

  2. Hello,

It is kinda long story so sit tight 🙂

I recently received Two identical Intel SSD DC P4600 Series NVME PCI-E 4x 2TB Cards.

    My MSI X570 A-PRO has only 1x PCI-E 16x (GPU) then 1x PCI-E 8x (which has 16x physical connection) and then 3x PCI-E 1x.

Unfortunately my RTX 4070Ti (Aorus Master) is a thick boi and blocks 1x PCI-E 1x and PCI-E 8x

    So i am left with 2x PCI-E 1x

I watched Linus where he cut of the end of the PCI-E 1x to accomodate longer card (i think it was NIC but it doesnt matter)

Told myself hey i could do that, so i did. (It went really well and all pinouts stayed intact so the physical connection is ok to the cards.)

But Only one card works , i tried switching them up and both of them would load but not at the same time so i though ok the other PCI-E must be damaged or something.

So i tried One of the PCI-E SSDs in combination with Intel PCI-E 1x Gigabit LAN Card , which worked , and i also tried a basic PCI-E X4 to M.2 Nvme SSD which also worked.

My question is , whats wrong basically ? 😄

In MB Manual there is a statement that PCI_E4 wouldnt work IF PCI_E2 is occupied , but it isnt because that is the one that is occupied by the GPU (size)

PCI_E5 is the slot where i know it is working and i tried both cards in this slot and both of them loads (can also see them in BIOS)

I Also tried ONLY occupying PCI_E4 slot with the Intel SSD but nope.

But when i try other PCI_E4 slot with Basic of the shelf PCIE x4 to NVME M.2 it works.

Hope my explanation is enough, let me know if you have any tips which i could try 😄

I have variants to try, maybe i will try to buy riser for the blocked 8x slot and route it somehow so the Intel SSD would fit...

If you want gaming performance only, 10600K is your pick.

But new ryzen CPUs are being announced in 4 days, so perhaps you could hold out for that to see pricing? Maybe AMD's competitor for the 10600K is quite compelling.

Saw the assumed benchmarks of the ZEN 3 , looks very appealing , but i dont want to wait for new X*70 motherboards and deal with low stock of new ZEN 3 cpus (cough.. rtx3080).

I5 10600k is now better than R7 3700x (for gaming) but what about years to come ? would that stay ? Isn't R7 3700x a better "future proof" ?

  4. Hello guys ,

Currently sitting here , scratchin my head because of upgrade path.

    My system now:

    Xeon E3 1270 v3

    RTX 2080 Ti Strix

    32GB DDR3

Wanted to upgrade to Ryzen 7 3700x (when Zen 3 launches , presumably Zen 2 prices will come down , but i dont mind the price)

But as i saw performance with team blue , I5 10600k looks very appealing for gaming and beats 3700x (mostly) by couple of FPS with the same GPU.

As you may know I5 10600k has 6C/12T and R7 3700x 8C/16T (i know the cores does not mean that much and main thing is the architecture of the CPU and IPS etc. i know that)

I dont like to use this word but what do you guys think , what should i buy for a long term ? Should i go with i5 or R7 ?

    Thanks for your opinions !!

I suspect they were embellishing the 3070 performance the way they clearly did the 3080.  Who knows, we will see.

600 is honestly a great price for a 2080ti, especially if you need it now.  If you got one that can overclock well, it doesn't sit all that far behind the 3080.

All that being said, my preference in this situation would be to put 100 more in and get a 3080 > wait for 3070 reviews and maybe buy that...but honestly if you need it now, it still isn't a terrible deal in the whole scheme of things.

See what you mean , that could be the best case scenario , but i dont like to wait much. And also i think 2080 Ti is far more than i need with 3x full hd screens (which will be soon upgraded to Ultrawide.

seems like a good deal honestly, especially if you still have warranty.

Yeah , for a year i think , just spoke to the previous owner today , he said that it has so.. yeah :) Pumped up , because now i am on old old Quadro K2000 GPU :/

599 is nothing, prices used to be 1500+ for 2080TI's

Currently the 3080 is 799 to 899 euro and the 3090 is 1599 to 1799 euro

This is EUROPE with a standard tax of 21% not US msrp pricing

599 for a 2080ti is a steal compared to the 599 prices for 2070 supers

So it went a little higher , so i bought it for 619 euro , so i think still a great deal for this card. :) Card is on its way :)

Exactly what i think :) We will see about the auction , but i think if i would wait , i would see 3080 coming in two months and that is a big maybe..

    Thank you for your reply

Not sure how it is in the Czech Republic, but in the US companies don’t like honoring warranties unless you are the original purchaser, just something to watch out for.

In Czech Republic , as long as you have original receipt , then the warranty is valid.

The situation is different with mobile phones and with devices that use sim cards.

Like others have mentioned, I'd wait if you can, the market isn't really stable right now, it might be a good deal, or it might drop further when the 3070 launces.

Honestly, for 100€ more the RTX3080 seems worth it over the 2080TI, i'd pay that for 20-30% increase in performance + it not being used

We will see , i dont want to be without a gpu for long time , i already have preorders going on local shops so.. The used RTX 2080ti we are talking about is in an auction , if it goes higher than 599 euro , then i will not bid anymore. Currently it is at 532 euro.

well then you are a fanboy are sorry to say this but you are not clever. If AMD has similar or better performance for less why not go for it?

RDNA2 comes out later next month , dont want to be without GPU for that long..

bit expensive for used. they are probably worth about 500 now used, rather than 600.

the 3070 will probably be on par with it (my feeling is it will be just below in performance), but for cheaper

keep in mind that this price is converted from CZK (i am from czech republic lol) and includes tax , which is high in czech (RTX 3080 costs 780 euro in here)

  13. 5 minutes ago, jj9987 said:

If you can wait, RTX 3070 should have about the same or slightly better performance compared to 2080Ti, while coming out cheaper (starting at 499). We haven't seen benchmarks yet though, so can't say any certain numbers.

and just to quote you again , currently i dont have any decent GPU , borrowed RTX 2060 from work yesterday from our VR setup , but i need to give it back on monday , and only GPU i have is Quadro k2000 which is more like integrated gpu atm.

Yeah , but we all seen what happened with 3080 yesterday...

Don't buy anything till October 28, wait to see what RDNA 2 shapes up to be. My guess is it'll be a $400 card to undercut the 3070, just like the 5700/xt

I dont want to be a fanboy of a green team but i am a user of nvidia for some time now and AMD is not a card for me unfortunately. Even if it has more performance than 3090..

I'm running an Intel i7 4790 with 16 gigs of RAM and a GTX 1050ti. I do not game on this machine and wont be starting anytime soon. I started using my GPU for CUDA programming and deep learning and it just isn't enough. I am on a low budget and I found some refurbished cards on EVGA B-Stock. The 780 is available for $130 which is pretty cheap and might be able to afford it, as its a faster card, is it a good choice in 2019 for that price? I will be running my 1050ti as well.

GTX 780 should have better performance than 1050Ti over all. It has 2304 Cuda Cores and 1050Ti has 768 Cuda Cores.

I don't know which program are you running and if it will scale well between two graphic cards , but yeah. On a paper 780 is faster with more CUDA cores.

Talking about a price , i think it is a bargain for that price, even in 2019. Considering that 1050Ti costs somewhere between 150-160$. I would go for it.

well hat should i see before i buy a new psu, does all modern Psu have pin conenectors??

    Most of them , yes.

If you will pick something from Tier 3 to Tier 1 it should definitely have at least 2 of them.

They should have something like 2x 6+2Pin on one cable, or if it is a modular one, it should have all cables that you will need.

  17. 1 minute ago, Barry220 said:

well this is the label i got, i dot think it has any 6 pin, guess i need a new Psu

Well, you could try using 2x MOLEX to 6Pin cable, but i would not recomend that.

If you will be buying new PSU , check out LTT PSU Tier List ! (always helps)

    Hello folks,

i wanted to get into music production, but since i am a poor pleb i dont have enough money to get a second pc for Fruity loops alone. All 3 outputs of my gtx 750ti are taken and i wanted to ask if i could maybe add a gtx 710 and use it just for the monitor (1920x1080 60hz) with fruity loops. will this work, and if yes how well? tyty, xoxo, Papa bless,

    Lukas

It will work, just keep in mind that you need to have PCI-E 16x lane on motherboard that will run at least at 8x speed.

You can also try, if your motherboard has integrated graphics, just using those ports, but you will need to enable some settings in BIOS.

  19. Hi,

So, I'm currently in a bit of an odd situation.

I my colleague just gave me PSU he didn't need anymore.

    So my question is.

Do i care to change or should i keep my current one ?

My current one that i'm using rn:

    Cooler Master G550M

    http://www.coolermaster.com/powersupply/modular-gm-series/g550m/

The ''New'' PSU he gave me:

FSP Hydro HD700 (at least that is the model name)

    http://www.fsplifestyle.com/PROP163000553/

I spend a lot of time researching about this type of PSU but in tier list of PSUs this type is nowhere to be found (only Hydro G or other Hydros but not this one)

And i know that my G550M is in Tier 4 in PSU List.

    Thanks for any info !

Exactly, you don't know about this. Go check a few benchmarks and report back. Don't spread shit you're not ready to back up.

Yeah, definitely will listen to your BS right now. And everytime i wrote something what i didn't have backed up i said IMO which means in my opinion if I'm not mistaken.
