So since each row has 4 drives. I set up each one in a RAID 10 within freeNAS, I found the easiest way is to use the wizard it has some presets that will setup a drive configuration although I have to put 4 drives in use the wizard put the nest 4 in and use the wizard, etc. the poor image below kinda shows you. Then I make a zvol size depending on how big the virtual machine I plan to put on it. add that as an extent within freeNAS then I add the iSCSI target to that extent, Within the ESXi host you add the iSCSI target. So far thats how I found the best way to do it is. seems to be working amazing.
Then I plan to use the backup nas as such, it will Rsync with the main NAS every hour, if I ever need to take down the primary NAS i will switch the IP's on the backup nas to the Primary nas reboot esxi host and all should be well( THIS IS JUST A THEORY, I have found no way to do this otherwise.)

ok so correction you have 8 Gb of Ram .
so the Proc you have is only a 2 core /4 thread which is ok but in higher titles it will struggle.
so here are your CPU choices that fit your socket

and GPU i would really really recommend that zotac I linked before it requires no more power pins and only a 300w PSU which im pretty sure you got.

if you do both your looking at $200ish bucks.

also an ssd will really help speed for booting/and the games you want to run fast

i use these adata's and havent had a problem

or jsut search system and screen that .

    UPDATE:
But a short answer is a GPU ,
My friends has an a8 (you have an a10-5700) which performed OK but then he bought a Zotac 750ti $100 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500349

and maybe some more Memory I think you have 4GB 8 would be better 16 would be PLenty

Yea i totally agree if you want some dual CPUs stuff make it easier check this out , it will be easier if you were in the US to ship but the advantage is that most have ram but you might not be able to get multiple graphics cards in the machines

i dont know how much of a "baller" dual cpu it willbe these CPU are mostly 4 core and no hyperthreading so 4 cores is 4 cores. so it would be no better having 2 of them it would be the same as an i7

Bacon8tor got a reaction from aeroencychris in re-using old virus infect hard drive????
hmmm it will be hard to get rid of anything in the drive unless you have some computer you can use.
BUt if you have some old computer you can use you can use dariks boot and nuke http://www.dban.org/

you just create a usb bootable , boot from it then you can "nuke" the drive, should rid of anything on there

You can use your current system and if you did, I would remove any other drives in your system, to avoid deleteing any other disk.

Bacon8tor reacted to KuJoe in Can someone explain to me how web hosting is associated to server virtualization
In terms of web hosting, a virtual server and dedicated are basically the same thing in the eyes of the software and visitors. If you're running a few hundred websites the need of dedicated physical hardware is not as apparent. Personally, I've hosted over 1000 active websites on an Intel Atom 330 with 2GB of RAM without any issues, you can easily get a VPS (Virtual Private Server) with a lot more resources and much better performance/redundancy for dirt cheap these days. Currently I run a few web hosting companies (paid and free) of strictly VPSs without any issue (although I also own most of the hardware they are running on, virtualization makes life so much easier though).

well Finding one locally that 100% will work is a no go. so I opted for this http://www.amazon.com/WS-POE-8-24v60w-Ethernet-Injector-Ubiquiti-Mikrotik/dp/B007TQAZGM

and he will have to wait till tomorrow. worst comes to worse, I have one unifi access point at work hat i can take the PoE adapter from and then they have on ubiquit access point at the house already so that gives me 2 to work with and I have the router that I purchased so worst comes to worst so that I can get some of his stuff working is set the router up using its wifi then set up 2 accesspoints at the furthest points or closest to what needs connectivity. then when I get the PoE injector set the rest up .

shared storage? I am using iSCSi to attach the drives to the ESXi host. each of the drives are actually on a RAID 10 then I create the iscsi extent and I can attach the drive to any host. the ESXi host have no drives themselves.

^fart better plan.. made me laugh. I am planning on using Veeam to backup the VM's then I plan on rsyncing those files to the other nas , so this way each nas has a copy of every VM . if I loose one NAS i have a copy of all VM's, then I have to figure out a Off site Solution, or WAN is a pretty shitty connection and some of the VMs are quiet large.

Well Its been an interesting day. I had to Mod this old Dell Tower Server case, it had a removable motherboard tray that I had to cut a rectangle out for the AMD backplate. once I get that PSU in there Ill update whether the issue was resolved, I guessing it will boot fine when it has sufficient power.

Dude you can just have to stick it out.
I am 27yrs. old , only been pursuing this industry for about 4 years , after alot of youtube videos and tutorials, and finding an oppurtunity at my place of work and them giving it to me, I am now the IT director(only It person for entire company) of a pretty large HVAC company in Arizona. I have no schooling, I dropped out of college, wasnt even really into computers I played 360 had a laptop but nothing from ordinary stuff. Got interested in scripting for GTA:SA MP , and that led me to wanting more and more, now I can write in several coding languages C#, PHP, JS , HTML/CSS, and dabble in some others. I have taken a company who was running windows 2003 r2  on 7 different dell blade servers, and various versions of centos 5,6,7 on another 8 servers. Now I have upgraded them to win server 2012 r2 & centos 6(i hate 7) on 2 Esxi host on a Dell R710 (3rd is a backup machine) connected to 2 SANs (which I hand built they have Xeons CPUs, ECC memory and redundant PSU) . oh and the best thing is they ahd a 10/100 network going on for over 100 users it was slow as balls, now we are almost fully gigabit ( I really hate networking ) , but at least all the servers are gigabit .

So Yes it is extremely possible, I have "headhunters" calling me all the time cause they are looking for IT people and they are finding my Resume on Dice.com and it clearly shows I have no IT schooling. I have gone to a few interviews that I felt just brushed me off cause I had no schooling  so I know where the frustration is comes from but screw them they are missing out.

Edited:   You want to talk or ask some questions Id be glad to meet up , discord teamspeak (i really dont use skype but I can DL it) , but I much rather make a IRC server or a mumble server , anyways hit me up for anything.

I think there are a few ways you can accomplish this .
    1)  if you have an old computer look into pfSense you can check this video.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0JFfpG4BWI
I am using an old dual core pc with an 80gb hard drive and 1 gbpit nic
then your router Wifi should be used as an acces point takes that load off it, and I noticed a bit of a difference on my wifi signal when I did this. also with pfsense you can easily used squid proxy to cache and websites will load alot faster .
its really easy to set up and some really cool stuff you can do with it .
make sure all your switches and NICs are GbE (Gigabit) otherwise cat5e is useless .

and there is no problem with having multiple switches on the same network
unless you ran out of Ip addresses ( I think ) but you leave it at a default 255.255.255.0 or /24 you have 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.255 available I think you should be good
