  1. I really hope the likes of Apex Legends will get Linux support. What I don't yet dare being too hopeful about is the big not-on-steam players like Blizzard and Riot Games starting to take Linux gaming serious... That would be the only hold-up for me to make the full switch to daily driving Linux.
  2. True, which is why I meant specifically above 144, like 160-180 Hz, which I don't think timings can fix anymore, or can they?
  3. Really nice work on the guide and calculator! I think I understand the numbers, and I'm looking to get a high refresh rate (> 144), 1440p HDR (10-bit colour depth) display. There is quite a bit of choice, and a selection of them even offer DisplayHDR 600 nowadays. What I don't get is that I see so many with DP 1.2 on them (even something like the fairly recent ROG Swift PG329Q), since that will not allow you to utilize those screens to their full potential by my calculations. Do manufacturers expect you to not use HDR and high refresh rate at the same time, or that you use chroma-subsampling - sacrificing colours - to get both? If I'm correct, only DP 1.4 and up support compression (DSC) to squeeze a bit more out of them.
  4. Hmmm, you're right. I do understand. For people visiting the forum routinely it might be a random and uninteresting topic. Yet I thought this might be information that more people would find helpful. I couldn't find the thing at first and tried to google it, so maybe next time someone is looking for it they find this?
  5. I recently bought the case myself and was wondering the same thing, but I found the bracket somewhere hidden in the CoolerMaster store. For the EU store it was hidden in the spare parts section for the MasterBox http://www.cmstore.eu/spare-parts/masterbox-360-radiator-bracket/ It was hidden in the parts section for the MasterCase 5 on the US store http://www.cmstore-usa.com/masterbox-5-360-radiator-bracket/ Hope it still helps ;D
  6. I want the keyboard because I never had a mechanical keyboard. Also RGB
  7. Thanks guys! Seems that SCSI is pretty outdated now I guess. Keeping the card though, goes in the box with the others. (One of those others is a Geforce 6700 XL :o)
  8. So I got this pretty old looking mystery pc card with a connector that looks BA. I have no clue what this would be used for.... It seems to me it should be some server gear, or at least not consumer grade. The connector that looks like a PCI is actually too long for such slot. It's about 13 cm (a bit over 5 inches) long end to end.
  9. I want to build a computer, but don't have tons of money to spend, so I'm basically stuck with a slow HDD for games and boot drive. And, you know, they are silent. Which is nice.
  10. The Kova would be nice indeed. My old Roccat Kone Pure is at the final stages of its service I really like the ergonomics of that one.
  11. Thanks for your replies! Seems Gigabyte will be biting the dust here (pun totally intended). Any more notes on MSI or ASUS that can differentiate them from eachother?
  12. Hey, I'm new here! I heard you guys are awesome! (Yes, from the Linus himself) I'm looking around for a motherboard for my future mid tower build. It's not going to be very low budget, but I'm trying not to just go with the most expensive stuff out there either. There is a lot out there, but I already narrowed it down quite a bit by just looking at what I really wanted to have in functionality and features. So some of the my requirements were DDR4, a Z170 chipset and SLI compatibility for upgradability/overclockability together with some other general features like lots of fan headers, not too outrageous colour scheme (the build will be green, but the amount of green motherboards is staggeringly low, at least a this price) and a nice range of back I/O. I ended up with three motherboards that are all pretty darn similar, but each from a different brand: Gigabyte: http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/457395/gigabyte-ga-z170xp-sli.html MSI: http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/469786/msi-z170a-sli-plus.html and Asus: http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/465847/asus-z170-e.html These are also around the same price of just under 150 euros, and I think this is also were I would want to be to get the most bang for the buck. I'm not that much into the motherboard market, so any advice is appreciated, or something about any of these boards (and which one of the three I is the better choice). Thanks
