Well hello there! So I am back here on the forums, a lot wiser than 2 years ago. In January 2018 I finished my training which meant I could finally afford my own appartement, so I moved out. So I came up with a design, too reduce my desk size in order to make space for "living room" furniture. This is my current setup, mostly without RGB, mostly trimmed for silent power. Case: Fractal Design R5 MB: Z97X-UD5H-BK rev.1.0 CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K at stock speed GPU: EVGA GTX1070 PSU: bequiet! Straight Power 10 500W RAM: Corsair XMS3 4*4GB DDR3-1600 Storage: 3 SSDs Cooling: Cryorig H7, two intakes one exhaust More details on the hardware in my signature. And this is what I have in mind. (Took me hours to design it :P) The table will shrink to 60cm*150cm (1" 11'x 4" 11'). Height from the floor to base of the table will come down from 70cm to 65cm (2"3' to 2" 1'). The first protoype draft desktop heighjt above ground will be at 85 cm (2" 9'), which is quite high due to the table from base plate to desktop being 20cm in height (~8'). The pine wood I plan on using being 1.8cm * 2 = 3.6cm (1 37/64') -> 20cm-3.6cm= 16.4cm (6 19/64') of clearance. Probably I am going to reduce it to 15cm/13cm (5 29/32'/5 1/8'). The glass is 0.3' thick and plane with the desktop. I would need to replace my Cryorig H7 with an AIO (future plan: custom loop w/ EKWB components) + older platform, not worth it imo). Basically my thoughts behind the project: the center wooden piece is for the keyboard and monitor weight. Plus I could use it to hide cables and my PSU. The motherboard would be placed on standoffs, like everything else. In the long run its planned to add RGB led strips under the little wooden supports for the glass. I first had issues to get the clearance in the desk for future proofing and the AIO rad including fans which is 140 in width, when I realised, that I could easily mount it with the fans aiming down instead of the back or left side. To have enough airflow, the right side would be equipped with three 120mm Noctua fans as intake and maybe one exhaust to the left where I plan the motherboard to be, so all the other stuff on the board would be cooled. MY GTX 1070 would be placed horizontally using a PCIe extension cable. My three SSDs would be placed either under the right glass panel (concern SATA cable max. 1 meter) or like all the other stuff on the left side. The right side would be reserved for the future and the custom water cooling loop. I would need to buy a quality brand 200 Euro circular saw, which I plan to use in the future anyways. I have enough space at my parents house to built this project, therefore this is no issue. After I planned everything out in a first draft, I nearly dropped the plans, as I saw a bill of around 1260 Euro without water cooling but tooling, wood, paint, LEDs, AIO, glass, fans, cablemod custom cables (not w/ this old platform) and other things. So I decided to tackle this project with a long term plan in mind, where I first build the barebone just with the desk and the necessary things like an AIO. Everthing else will be further used as of right now. And then I see already issues with my design for planned Yamaha HS7 speakers, if I want them to mount on stands in the table corners....jeezuz is this hobby expensive.....but well the golf course here won´t let me in Any suggestions and tips are appreciated, and yes it is 4.30 am where I live

If you instead try searching for 74LS189 ICs? Cant copy an Amazon link for some reason, but weren't 74LSxxx versions basically successors? EDIT: https://www.jameco.com/z/74189-Major-Brands-Tri-State-64-Bit-RAM-DIP-16_49883.html

I think It's time to delete my facebook...
annoyingmoments replied to Tocsin_786's topic in Off Topic
Better invest your time in a job, earn money and upgrade your PC for no reason. Better than a therapy or staring into a phone -
Does the fan even spin if you are gaming? Did you use heatsink paste? Did you play around with some kind of Fan monitoring software to setup custom fan curves? e.g: 300rpm at 40 degrees. 500 at 50 or something like that?
-
Is there an arrow on the side of the fan somewhere? Should show you the air flow direction and the direction of the fan itself.

annoyingmoments replied to Tocsin_786's topic in Off Topic
Well, sometimes it depressed me just to log in and see bs everywhere. The weird thing is that since I completly deleted it, I am less stressed though I did not even used it regulary, nor had I used the app. And sure you can delete your acc entirely: https://www.facebook.com/help/224562897555674?helpref=faq_content Instant-Edit: @Lacrimas was faster. -
R-134a passive "Fluid" CPU Cooler
annoyingmoments replied to sakibsadmanshajib's topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
Or carbon dioxide, as MB/Daimler did. Either way technicians are now required to be more careful. Note: Not a fan of the brand, but the carbon dioxide was first a thing I thought could be used in AiOs. Then I read that the neccessary psi/bars is ridiculous high.....- 11 replies

Said to be around 1500 times more problematic than carbon dioxide regarding the Green house effect. But I would need to make aresearch now, to remember everything again...- 11 replies

Wow, R-134a in a cooling solution? In the European Union this stuff is illegal. Car makers nearly got sued.... http://www.reuters.com/article/us-france-daimler-idUSBRE96P0ES20130726- 11 replies

How to change power led colour in Fractal Design Define R5
annoyingmoments replied to Wierzbak's topic in Cases and Mods
Well, this thread is quite old, but I like the idea of changing the LED. I literally googled "Define R5 change front LED" and came on this thread. It looks very nice and suits the Fractal Design "ice" impression I have of this brand. Personally I prefer the simple white LED, it does not look as "cheap" as with the blue one. Now you gave me ideas, trying to figure out, how to get a single RGB LED working, so you can customize it after your needs. -
Well the hardware is not actually bad, it is more customised for the main use of the systems. A PC is more of an universal tool. Sure, standards will bring down prices, but then again there is the danger of monopolies. And tbh, if PC parts would get that much cheaper, I would personally be bored . I like to go to work and save up money for this hobby, plus you are more attached to the hardware if you worked hard for it. Else there would be the "Smartphone mentality" buy a "cheap" 150 bucks one, throw it away and so on. Not very environmental friendly. There are already standards, like PCIe, S-ATA, NVME, ATX/ITX/etc., CPU sockets, RAM-Slots, USB/Thunderbolt. So you can choose from many things to suit your needs, therefore a "standard PC" seems a little bit unlikely.

razer [update2]Razer laptop prototypes stolen at CES
annoyingmoments replied to Bsmith's topic in Tech News
Well, this could have only happen between days I guess. Are there no security guards, no security system on the glass enclosure? Every Smartphone at electronic stores is secured through an alarm which sometimes reacts very sensitive.... The glass enclosure is too big for one person to lift alone, so this smells fishy. Or am I missing out on something? Though I am not a Razer fan, this should not happen at fairs like CES. -
The Cryorig H7 is nearly silent at idle, while it spins with 350rpm. At load (GTA V, Cities:Skylines, Fallout 4, etc. we are talking about 800rpm at max while still not that noticeable). But have in mind, that my case air flow is nearly maxed out when gaming, so they are making the noise instead. My stupid HDD in a dampener is much louder (therefore to be repaced).

Motherboard haunted! Plz Help
annoyingmoments replied to MoToX's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
The "PC" turns itself on again issue sounds, like either the Power On button may be faulty, or there might be a short circuit, which bypasses the Power on button, but still sends a current to the MoBo so your PC turns on. Yet these are only assumptions. Another reason could be "Wake on LAN", a feature I only dealt once with, but caused my PC to start itself, deu to some mislead configuration. Regarding your second problem I can not help you that much, as I am a completly stranger to OC. Soem questions might be helpful here anyways: Are the temperatures okay after you overclocked the CPU? What power supply do you have?- 12 replies

What are the laws for hacking WiFi networks in Poland?
annoyingmoments replied to PoXeW's topic in Networking
Do not even think about this. Especially not at the current political situation in Poland regarding constitutional changes, more rights for security authorities and so on. If you now hack into somewhere and get caught, you can even be seen as a foreign attacker. Do not play with fire.
