Still though, if a 580 is 30 bucks less I'd go with it, considering it performs about equally to the 6GB (unless you're only playing games that perform better with nvidia or already have a gsync monitor :P).

Plus, as an added bonus watercoolers are very efficient in carrying the heat way from your motherboard, letting them dump that heat straight out of the case.

According to this website: https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/intel/core_i7/i7-8086k Your cpu should actually be running at 4.3 on all-core, though you are correct that single-core is 5ghz.

For less than a 100 bucks, the best would probably be a second gen i5 paired with something like a 750ti, depending on how expensive those are for you.

Hey guys, I thought I'd share my idea for the next Scrapyard Wars. As we've seen, every season generally has a theme to it, water cooled pc's (without of the shelf components), performance per dollar, no internet, etc. I then thought of something, what if they did a performance/watt challenge? Not sure how big the budget should be, but I think it's really interesting, since you usually overclock and get the most as you can out of your cpu/gpu, whilst now you might prefer to run stock or even try undervolting. Plus getting a good power supply would also be important, since you'd want to draw as little power as possible and thus getting something highly rated (instead of some jank no-name PSU) could be worth spending the extra money.

The non max-Q chips are still going to be clocked lower than the desktop chips, though not by much.

Since I don't need portable power I'd go fot the PC 100%. All that I need my laptop for is school so basicly being able run word. Still using a laptop with a 3217-U, and have no need to upgrade.

Honestly if it's 100 more just go for thr R5. The difference at is purely on 1080p, and that's with an overclock and overkill gpu.

Intel also advertises single core boosts as the offcial boost clock speeds, not something that only one party does. As for X470 vs B450, depends on the price difference I'd say, if it's a pretty small difference then sure why not.

If you're gaming yopu don't need an m.2 ssd, or atleast the nvme ones, honestly I'd just look at whatever sata ssd with the most space you can get for your budget, since pretty much all of them will perform about the same.

1050tis are still overpriced in the US at least, $170+ for decent ones looks like.

RX 570s/580s are near $200, easily the better choice vs a 1050ti still.

monjessenstein got a reaction from kelvinhall05 in How's my cable management?
Looks pretty good, the only thing standing out to me is the sort of loop the power supply cables do going into the other side of the case where you probably hid the other cables. All in all though, pretty good for a case that's pretty basic.

Monitor will not be locked at 60hz, unless you're running vsync in games that is (though I don't suspect you to do that on a 144hz screen).

I remember Gamers Nexus doing a video on something similair to this, and remember the temperature difference being negligible at around 2-3 degrees.
