  1. A game being coded badly doesn't mean it'll damage your pc, only thing I could think of would be something like corrupting your hard drive. So no, running Minecraft (or really any game for that matter) is not bad for your pc or the components within.
  2. AFAIK the 8400 and 2600 are roughly equal speeds in games. If I had to pick one I'd go with the R5, mainly because you'll have a better upgrade path in the future.
  3. Hey all, I've noticed that on Discord, my microphone sounds bad (well, like shit to be honest). However, after recording a simple obs audio clip, it sounds much better. I've fiddled around with some of the mic options in obs, but to no avail. My mic is a Blue Snowball, if that helps.
  4. Yeah just get the 2600, should be plenty for streaming and will be better in games.
  5. For gaming the 2600, for programs that benefit from more cores 1700.
  6. I'd say the RX570, those things are amazing value at their current price point (especially compared to the 1050ti).
  7. First of all, I wouldn't get an AIO with a locked chip, complete waste of money. Best bet would probably to either stay with the 9600k and change 120mm to a good air cooler.
  8. At that point I'd suggest just getting an external gpu enclosure, seems like I'd be simpler to set up.
  9. I highly doubt you'd need the extra 2 cores from the 9900k if all you're doing is gaming though.
  10. AFAIK Intel's 10nm is launching on mobile first at the end of 2019, so desktop parts might only arrive in 2020.
  11. It depends on how close to the monitor you will sit. I tend to always look at the chart below, so in your case if you're roughly 1.2m or closer to the monitor you will notice the difference, but it won't be "necessary".
  12. Your best bet would either be a high end Ryzen mainstream cpu (think 2700(x)) that you could later upgrade to a 12 or 16 core, or go with Intel's HEDT (so like you said, something like a 9900x)
  13. It'll work fine, my suggestion though would be to either get a 240gb SSD instead of a 120 or get something like a 1 or 2TB hard drive to go along with it. Whilst 120 is fine for basic systems, you're gonna run out of space quickly with games.
  14. Considering you all have a similair class of gpu I'd try looking at your thermals, it at leat looks like your gpu would be struggling to breathe since it's so close to the PSU shroud.
  15. Honestly I'd put it down to the hard drive. I'm currently using a laptop with an i3-3217u cpu and only 4 gigs of ram, and whilst it's not balzing fast it's faste nough for basic things like watching youtube. I noticed a huge difference in speed when I swapped out the HDD for an SSD, so I'd suggest you try doing that.
  16. I think yours rates as Tier 6 (not sure without full model number) so yeah pretty crappy.
  17. Forza Horizon 4 is the most recent one, and AFAIK is actually pretty well optimised unlike the other games. Don't know about any refund policies though.
  18. Considering he's not tech savy, he probably doesn't want to build a full custom loop for his (I'm presuming) first pc. AS for actual advice, I'd recommend downloading msi afterburner and running some games, check how hot the temps get. If they get to around 80 ish degrees or hotter, then you prbably need to chance case. Maybe you can send it back and ask if they can replace the case for you, as long as you pay the extra price?
  19. Do the earbuds work? If not, you might have to install the appropriate audio drivers for your motherboard
  20. Maybe see if you can rotate your block so the tubing doesn't get in the way, Since a large amount of airflow is going betweeen the mobo VRM's and the GPU now and is effectively being wasted.
  21. Might I ask why it's installed in the second slot? First slot would give it way more breathing room and probably drop temps too.
  22. I'm currently using a G25, and it's been fine for about 10 years now I'd say? You could probably pick up a used G25 or G27. Aside from that I've heard that Fanatec wheels can be pretty good too, plus the Thrustmaster T300
  23. Pretty much any cpu in the last 10 years can do that. If it can run games, it can do everyday tasks.
  24. Ryzen all the way. Higher clockspeeds, better igpu, 4 more threads and a MUCH better upgrade path.
