Pedricha got a reaction from Mr. Rabbit in Portugal's government just approved a law wich taxes everything that has memory
Portugal just approved a law that taxes everything that has some kind of memory. The excuse is that you have to pay authors for buying their content and making a private copy. Some of the money will go towords the SPA (Portuguese Society of Authors). Basically they are giving part of the money to a scammy organization, just because some of the organization leaders are friends with the government. Typical. This isn't the first time this law was up for vote.
An example of this is that one 2TB HDD costs about 70-75€ now and with this law will cost 100€...
Each gigabyte will cost 0,517€ more with various other "creator and copyright stuff" on top.

Yeah man, it's your opinion, I don't agree with it but I respect it. That said you have no idea what this government has done to this country so far...a stupid tax that will only support other bad and scammy people on top of the other stupidly high taxes is too much.
It doesn't work like that, people will buy the products from somewhere else outside of the country, at least most os them. It won't support the internal market at all.

For HDD the max is 25€+tax, 0.02€ per GB.
For External HDD and SSD the max is 10€+tax, 0.005€ per GB.
So...1000gb x 0.02€ = 20€ for a 1TB HDD.
25€ for a 2TB, 3TB, 4TB,etc HDD.
For a 128gb SSD its 120gb x 0.005€ = 0.64€
256gb x 0.005 = 1.28€
512gb x 0.005 = 2.56€
1000gb x 0.005 = 5€
Its these values + 23% tax.

PS, the other major party, has tried to approve this law several times before, so this will go forward. Seems this time we'll lose the battle. The spanish will thank us for giving them some of our money... at least what's left of it that we can spare.
Still, I have hope that our constitutional court will veto this one, since it's obviously unconstitutional.

It will pass on the parlement... PSD and CDS will approve just because it's "their" government's law. The "left side" will also approve and tell everyone that this measure should have been taken sooner.
O senil do cavaco nem sabe o que é um disco rígido...por isso bad news
