So after working a bit on this thing over the week i've managed to build something that I think is pretty nice for a computer that was going to be thrown away.

I have inverted the motherboard tray so now the PSU sits on the bottom and the pci expansion slots are on the top, the rear I/O panel has also been cut down to be able to fit standard I/O plates. I also modified the orginal power button an LED's so they can be plugged into a normal mobo (This one used a proprietary connector) And obviously painted the whole thing, the interior and the rear I/O piece's are in satin black, and the exterior is in matte black with the front bezel in red.

Just found this thread today. Looks great! I just started a Sawtooth mod, but I haven't posted pics yet.
The nuts and bolt with cardboard washers was brilliant. I've seen others use epoxy to stick mounts to the side panel.
I'm also impressed you were able to get water cooling tubes to fit. Everyone else seems to have given up.

But, I still had another case around that I had slightly modified so it would fit standard hardware. This was the G5 version of the proliant, the red one is the G4. They look almost identical on the outside but have some differences on the inside. Thats why I didn't go crazy on this one and invert the mobo tray. So this is what I started with:

I also painted a matching 5,25 bay cover, the old drive cage door, some PCI brackets and a Rear I/O plate that I have made so it fit's the gigabyte ebay board I bought that didn't come with one

I like the idea of re-using the old case.  Its not modern by any means, but the aggressive styling lends to it to say, "I'm gonna kick some ass!"

And it reminds me of good old LAN days.

I had an ML115 many years ago (same thing but AMD based rather than Intel based on the 110), was a great system for the money they cost (slightly more than a MicroServer if I recall, but I guess the MicroServer essentially replaced this model). The red looks great! Wish I'd done something like this with it at the time as the silver and black looked quite dull.

Also this guy arrived today in the mail. It was advertised as not working and missing the HD. The funny thing is that it does have it's original 30GB HD (Which was unplugged) but it's missing the CMOS battery. I might try fixing it and if that doesn't work maybe I'll make another project with it in the future. For the moment it fits nicely with the rest of my G4/5 collection.

It's alive!! I used an old HD4670 to test it since it fits pretty nice, and everything is working as it should. At least I can watch Game of thrones tonight

The last thing I did is mark and drill all the holes on the bottom for the extra airflow. I also tested the PSU fitment with the new setup.
I still have to make some holes on the side panel so the PSU fan won't die but I want to make a template for it first.
(There is a car jack inside the case to prevent it from moving too much while drilling)
