  1. Problem is I've unscrewed everything on the backplate but still have no idea how to get it off
  2. How long until you'd think any long term damage would occur? If I could just reasonably make it to this weekend without causing further damage that would be ideal. And what would a proper cleaning entail? A full wipe of isopropyl and letting that dry?
  3. Vodka and sprite.. my concern is it's likely to be a little sticky from that
  4. How long should I wait for it to dry? Because it's a bit hard to actually get access to the pcb to dry it, or would it be reasonable to throw it in the oven at a lower heat like maybe 100°F for a while to accelerate it?
  5. So 10 minutes ago I was at my desk drinking, when I accidentally knocked my glass to the side over my computer. Not only a little bit of liquid actually got in but my computer IMMEDIATELY blue screened. I shut off my computer and cut power to it asap, and on inspection my gpu looks like I had a few drops on it, it has a backplate but there's still a few small vents it made it through. The gpu is an evga 1080 Is there any way to salvage this? I tried unscrewing all the screws on the backplate but I still need to unscrew stuff on the rest of the card bc the pcb is attached to the backplate, and more importantly are there any fixes I can do right now that won't require waiting for a week? I need to use this computer for all my classwork
  6. I posted this on the raspberry pi forums but didn't get any help, I know generally this forum has helped me a lot more in the past so I figured to post here. So I bought a pi 4 from microcenter back in August, I got only the board because it was on clearance, just recently I decided to work on it, so I bought a starter kit with a microSD card and usb drive for it, a small plastic case, fan, and power switch with fan controller (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZC ... UTF8&psc=1)So I built the case, got everything connected, I installed Raspbian on the SD card and created an 'ssh' folder inside the boot partition. I plugged the USB drive with SD card into the Pi and I get no display. The Pi turns on, (constant red LED indicator and blinking green LED), and I get no display. I try to ssh in and connect the pi up to ethernet but it doesn't come up in my connected devices to my router. If I type 'ping raspberrypi.local' in my cmd all I get is network timeoutsI have next to zero experience with anything Linux and I need help with this, I don't know if theres something wrong with the boot or if there is something broken. Thanks for any possible solutions
  7. I just think the easiest resolution to whatever your problem is is to just reinstall steam.
  8. ok. because steam not seeing games looks like an issue with the main library being in a different place. what happens when you try to install a new game
  9. Ok. perhaps for some weird reason steam might have reset something and doesnt recognize your steam folder is on a diff HDD if you switched where it was.just to make sure try this: click steam on the top left corner click settings click downloads click steam library folders make sure steam recognizes the library folder on that drive I no longer have 2 drives (I lost one to a rootkit) so I cant look replicate what im saying completely to verify, but thats a good starting point and if you have any technical know-how, you should be able to figure shit out.
  10. So ive had an issue with my system ever since I went from a 750ti to 1080, my pc will crash under heavy gpu load, ive RMA'd my GPU, PSU, Mobo, and now my PSU again, which should arrive monday. After 3 months of troubleshooting and asking around, this one EVGA rep told me to check my 12v rail (which in the past its always been fine with some minor fluctuation) and I was in the bios and it was just going in between 12.068 and 12.198 every 2 seconds. he said thats much more than what should be allowed and almost certainly my problem. I was wondering if anyone can give me confirmation that the only cause of this would be my PSU (or the cables), like its not my GPU causing this to fluctuation... I've tried just about everything and im just fucking tired of it all hoping this will solve my issue. the only games I can play without a sys reboot is shit like terraria or HS
  11. quit steam and reopen, or reboot your pc, I believe ive had a similar issue before, maybe reset the HDD again, or just try to reinstall games. your question was worded a little odd so i dont know exactly what your problem is
  12. that sounds like a definite issue. Im in the process of RMAing my PSU, ill let you know if it fixes it
  13. I talked to an EVGA rep who was finally alot of help. go into your bios and check your 12v rail. see if its stable or fluctuating alot, mine was fluctuating like every 2 seconds between 12.098 and 12.168 which he said explains why I crash under GPU load, you can also check your 3.3v and 5v
  14. oh god yea, its fucking terrifying everytime you install a new part or try something else. and no worries, ive nuked 2 hard drives and reinstalled windows on 2 diff drives
