I know this is going to sound silly, but my boot drive is an 850 EVO 250 GB, only thing on it is windows, lol. I know I should put the boot on one of these newer ones, but I have the 1TB for games, and the 500gb for video files. I like to keep the data clean  Thanks for your help on this one!

Intel pentium's are great. If you are willing to go a couple dollars over get a better power supply. Here is my PartList I put together for you: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fkTJ9W

@Jed M @Icuw1pc Hey guys, thanks for the advice. I have since disassembled the laptop almost in it's entirety and reassembled it. It' snot running much smoother which is nice as is no longer making a loud 48000 RPM fan noise (yes that was an exaggeration) but it seems to still be freezing up. The freezes not, the fan just instantly firsts up to max RPM and then freezes, no transition any more. Just thought you guys might have some more insight. I was thinking maybe a software issue with the fan curve, but it all seems normal.

    Mikius10001 got a reaction from suchamoneypit in i5 2500K vs FX 8350?
The i5. For gaming. Editing/Rendering? I would think they would be similar, but the 8350 would probably edge in the multi core scenario.

I now realize answer just with 'The i5' isn't all that helpful.

The Single Core performance of the i5 is superior, and since most games these days aren't optimized to utilize all cores to their full potential, single core performance is better. Also, lower power consumption, if that matters.

You CAN act without infos, you jsut want someone else to pass the blame off to if it breaks it.

That being said, I wouldn't suggest doing it. Maybe one PSU for everything, and another for the GPU itself, but I wouldn't mix them.

@Omon_Ra Haha, I wasn't bragging or anything, I just thought it was funny. I'm in the same boat as you man, Apple II's in the computer lab. And even then, that was for the 'advanced' kids. My son was giving me some sass the other day about using MY tablet and it not working properly, so I took it. Now, he has no tablet access.  I completely agree with @TheBestUserName

I know it sounds weird - but start at a restaurant or store. Learn customer service.
If you want to be successful in things such as computer repair, customers will go to the place with the best service. Customer skills are also the main thing computer nerds suck balls at.

Step 1: Convince everyone you are a computer genius. Not just a regular genius though, like Steve Wozniak level of genius.
Step 2: Wait for peoples shit to break.
Step 3: Fix it for them. (Honestly when starting out in IT most of you job is googling the problem. You just have to be better at googling than them)
    Step 4: Profit.

It will be far more than $346. But not being able to see the future no one knows for sure yet. You can look at all the 'trends' you want, but you can't know until they announce it.

@ShadowCaptain While the charity bit is a nice idea, I actually build PC's from donated parts and give them to local Social work groups so I would do that instead

I stupidly didn't even think about the NAS being on all the time consuming power anyways, haha, totally missed that beat that's for sure. So the power question would be irrelevant. As for the cooling, obviously I'm not going to water cool 2x250's, but I have 5 case fans in that little bugger, do you think it could keep up? @kimsejin5
