  1. PSUs are a corsair CX750M the new CX series also a cheap best buy brand PSU just to check and see if the PSU was the problem. The boards are a Gigabyte B85M and a ASUS Z97X
  2. So let me tell you what all I've done to troubleshoot which will hopefully explain why I think it might be the CPU. I have at least two of all parts of the system and have tried different combinations of parts to try to get the system to post. First i tried a new motherboard with my current CPU and I did not get a post. I then tried the new mobo with my old pentium cpu which posted once. Because I did not want to keep the new mobo if the mobo wasn't the problem I decided to put the old pentium in the original mobo to see if I could get a post. This combination did not post so I decided that maybe both the original mobo and cpu were both dead. I then put the pentium back in the new mobo and started to put everything onto the system and tried to post before putting everything back into the case. At this point the system did not post. Since then I have tried using different ram sticks to see if that's the problem as well as a new PSU. I hope that all made sense. So at this point I am not sure what the problem is but to me it seems like my old mobo is killing CPUs.
  3. So I've been trying to troubleshoot my PC for awhile and the problem I was having was all the fans were spinning up but I was not posting. Yesterday I figured out that my CPU isn't turning on at all because the CPU is creating no heat no matter how long I leave the system running. Any ideas on what could be wrong other than my CPU just being dead?
  4. So for the speakers how do I use them for a post code? CPU: Intel i5 4590 MOBO: ASUS Z97-K GPU: EVGA Geforce 1060
  5. 1) I believe so. 2) yes 3) done it 4) yes 5) with integrated graphics the fans spin up but still nothing on the monitors. 6) I have done the paper clip test so I do believe that the psu is working. 7) no 8) I believe so.
  6. Cpu fan and case fans spin up but no post. The gpu fan kind of just ticks every couple seconds. Does anyone have any idea?
  7. I was not able to find a short. I have taken everything out of the case and reseated and repasted the cpu. The pc has started to power cycle now when I turn it on. When I turn it on, the cpu and psu fan will spin up and then turn off after about 2-3 seconds then after about 2-3 seconds will turn on and this repeats. I have also tried this with the gpu in and out of the system and with my ssd.
  8. Would this make the MOBO unusable? Should I go ahead and look into buying a new MOBO? Or will the MOBO possibly be usable if I remove whatever is causing it to short?
  9. I decided to clean my PC because it was getting a little dusty. I only used compressed air to clean. After cleaning I went and plugged all my peripherals back in and tried to boot. When the PC tries to boot the power button lights up for 1-2 seconds and all fans spin up but then turn right back off. I have made sure that all the connections are solid and I did the paperclip test on my psu and the fan spun up. I am not sure what is wrong but at this point I am thinking that I might have killed my motherboard. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong?
  10. thanks for your help. The solution was to go and check for updates through windows and they drivers were automatically updated.
  11. Yes. I have seen that too. That only works for windows 7 though 8.1 tho
  12. Yes, I have already tried this and it seem sas though the driver has been completely deleted from the computer. So it won't update anything.
