I'd bump up to a 860 EVO 500GB, it's only $20 more and you can run some long load time games off it to help them out.

I'd spring for a 8700K over the 9600K, HT is nice at 5GHz if you have a Microcenter near you?

God, that cooler is pricey.  I'd scale that back and put it toward more CPU or SSD love.

Yeah i wouldn't put money on that if i were you. You have a strong system so you might get 1440p 60FPS.

Not much to look at, but here are some in-development pictures of my build. i7-7700k and a Titan XP in the loop, all inside of a Node 202 case. At first the thermal results were a little disappointing. I switched the fans to be between the GPU and the radiator pushing air out the bottom of the case and now it works great. It fits with all of the exterior shell of the case being unmodified. Pretty happy with the results.

only on non-gsync models. alienware had the bright idea to put a MUX switch in nongsync alienwares and remove them on gsync alienwares. logic.

Overall the GT62VR is slightly better
The new Alienwares have a problem which the heatsink is not fitted evenly (however that's not a big deal, you can fix it)

Well How about a Dell Inspiron 15 7577. This mid cycle refresh comes with a brand new design, Thunderbolt 3, a new Chassis, and a GTX 1060 Max Q.

Yes, a thin laptop with a hot GTX 1070 isn't a good idea
Also IMO Asus ROG laptops don't have the best build quality (mediocre plastic chassis with flex for instance) and cooling solution (throttling, loud fans)

Alienware 15 with GTX 1070 has acceptable temps, at least it doesn't throttle in games

It has a bad screen with 44ms GTG which is bad. The battery will only last you 3-3½ hours. I wouldn't buy it.

If you're unwilling to DIY then you're stuck with what manufacturers offer you. I'm pretty sure the Legion Y520 is priced at about 1000+ right now so that's above your range, so you're stuck with the VX15 or 7567. It's up to you on what you want to trade off on.

you could get the best of both worlds if you would use your hands and you know replace the screen, but that's apparently too damn hard for the majority of people.

I own a Lenovo Legion Y520 and it is nice. Mine comes with the GTX 1050
Acer VX15, Dell 7567 are good choices too.
For the cheapest GTX 1060 laptop I think is the MSI GP62MVR

What?  I do own a Clevo P650RS (older cpu model).  I got mine from HIDEvolution.  Easily the best in my experience, but they charged like a 100 dollar premium.

Of course, and if you don't want the price of HID, try LPC-Digital.  Larry there is great.
