  1. hmm, would having booted off of the AC, without battery in the laptop and testing on a different monitor to see if it posts, not eliminate these two possibilities?
  2. Hey all, So about a week ago my laptop stopped working outright. When pressing the power button, I got no keyboard back light, no post, no fans spinning etc. Basically all seemed not to work. Today I did some troubleshooting by removing the battery, doing a hard reboot, booting it off of a power adapter, and re-sitting ram. This made the laptop show some signs of life, the laptop now powers on when I click the press button as indicated by the keyboard backlight coming on. Additionally, I can hear the fan spin and the chassis heat up if left on for an extended amount of time. However, I still get nothing on the screen. Even when testing it with another screen. Any help would be much appreciated. The laptop model is Dell Inspiron Plus 7420
  3. Ok, so I did all of the above, except of getting new ram. I just got some 8gigs of ram from my sister's pc and changed it with mine, still crashed. Resetting bios did not work, even when running at stock ram profile. Mem test came up with nothing. Did 4 runs of memtest86 with different settings and no errors.
  4. Nvm im dumb and have solved this.
  5. Hey, I cleaned my pc up today, changed the thermal paste, and also reset the BIOS by resitting the CMOS battery. When I got my pc up and running again I saw that one of my drives converted itself to NTSF. I haven not been able to find an answer as to how to convert it back to what it was, its quite annoying as it does not allow me to update the games on that drive, due to the pc saying that there is not enough space one the drive. Any ideas of how I would fix this?
  6. Ok, will do the things suggested. What else, other then the temps, would I be looking for in HWInfo64? Got it to crash with it running and the log said it run at 73oC
  7. The only thing I've changed when I built it was putting the XMP profile to 3200MHz, though I went into bios now to double check and it was off, my memory being clocked at 2133MHz.
  8. oh well, when trying to run apex legends on the stick that seems to have been working it crashed .
  9. So, one of the RAM sticks crashed the pc, the other did not.
  10. Which slot would be slot 1? the manual just says DIMMB2, DIMMB1, DIMMA2, DIMMA1 and state s to put the stick into DIMMA2 if using single one.
  11. So, for a while now my pc has been crashing whenever playing games such as apex legends and quake champions, seems fine when I play stuff like planescape torment, though it is not limited to how intensive a game is, i think, since I still get crashes when playing a game which is not as intensive, such as reflex arena. When the crash happens, I get a black screen for a bit, then it just restarts. There are no error messages System specs are as follows: Windows 10 64bit PowerColor Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB Red Devil Video Card AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory Pioneer 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive Corsair RM650x 650 watts Bios version is; BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 3.50, 07/11/2019 I tried swapping out a PSU with another Corsair TM-M 650 watt I had lying in the back and it did not help. Clean installing GPU drivers did not help. Run MemTest86, and it found no errors. I also error checked my ssd and hard drive, they seemed fine. Also tried seeing the temps at the time of crash, and the highest they went to was 87oC, but were at around 85 mostly.
  12. Should I turn off stuff like windows DVR and Game Bar?
  13. So I just installed windows 10. Are there any adjustments/changes to the settings that I should make?
  14. Hey, I build a new pc and I have some files that I would like to transfer onto the new one. Can I hook up my old drive which has windows 10 on it into the new system which also has a windows installed?
