  1. Windows has this dumb "optimization" thing it just pushed to computers that seems to only do harm. to disable it for a game: Right click game in steam > properties > local files > Browse Local Files > Right click the .exe file > click compatibility tab > click the check box that reads 'disable fullscreen optimizations' > click apply
  2. A friend gave me an old drive of his because I was running low on space but I can't format it. I've installed drives before with no issue. I've attached a screenshot with a few different windows that hopefully have enough info so that you guys can help me because I'm lost and google doesn't seem to be helping.
  3. I got a -0001 error ? I never in my life have had this many issues trying to get a driver to install edit: sorry I uploaded the jpg of the screenshot instead of the img, fixed now
  4. I have a lenovo mobo so I use the driver tool they supply to find the correct driver but when I installed it, it failed for 'unknown error'
  5. I am having issues where my windows 10 computer has audio that is popping and crackling in both the mic and the speakers.I tried disabling audio enhancements and disabling application priority, it didn't help. I tried reinstalling all audio drivers, it didn't help. So I looked at my DPS latency the picture below is what it told me. So I went to update my chip-set but the Intel driver utility gives me the error in my 2nd screenshot. If I ignore the issues it still fails to install the drivers for an "unknown error". I have made sure to turn off all antivirus and running the installer as an administrator. Thank you for any help Edit: This it log while trying to update the drivers: [2B64:29B0][2017-05-01T16:01:02]i001: Burn v3.7.1224.0, Windows v6.2 (Build 9200: Service Pack 0), path: C:\Users\Username \Downloads\Intel Components\SetupChipset.exe, cmdline: '-burn.unelevated BurnPipe.{FE23E474-D91A-4AF7-A5EA-A8210886DCDD} {EE4FB214-88B7-47BF-B192-B658C6B6612F} 11136' [2B64:29B0][2017-05-01T16:01:02]i000: Initializing string variable 'IIF_ProductVersion' to value '10.1.1.14' [2B64:29B0][2017-05-01T16:01:02]i000: Initializing string variable 'IIF_InstallerVersion' to value '3.1.6' [2B64:29B0][2017-05-01T16:01:02]i000: Initializing string variable 'IIF_ExtractionMapping_SetupChipsetx86.msi' to value ';NullDrivers.cab;NOT VersionNT64' [2B64:29B0][2017-05-01T16:01:02]i000: Initializing string variable 'IIF_ExtractionMapping_SetupChipsetx64.msi' to value ';NullDrivers.cab;VersionNT64' [2B64:29B0][2017-05-01T16:01:03]i000: Setting string variable 'WixBundleLog' to value 'C:\Users\Username \AppData\Local\Temp\Intel\Logs\Chipset_20170501160103.log' [2B64:29B0][2017-05-01T16:01:03]i000: Setting string variable 'WixBundleOriginalSource' to value 'C:\Users\Username \Downloads\Intel Components\SetupChipset.exe' [2B64:29B0][2017-05-01T16:01:03]i052: Condition 'VersionNT >= v6.1 OR (VersionNT = v6.0 AND NTProductType = 3)' evaluates to true. 6. A long time ago when I first installed windows 10 I ran a 'stop windows from spying' program that made an organization that would manually keep all my wanted settings. I have since removed and lost the program and am now want to just remove the organizations entirely. Unfortunately I have windows 10 home and the home edition does not have 'gpedit.msc'. I tried a few other things such as removing 'C:\windows\system32\grouppolicy' and then running 'gpupdate /force' in an administrative command prompt but the organization's settings remained even after a full reboot. Thank you for any help
  7. So my dad plays starcraft and he wanted a new headset for xmass because he liked using mine (Philips SHP950). He said he wants "Not USB" and "closed back". They don't need to be studio silent or anything he just wants to be able to use them in public without it being loud. My price range is about 100$ at very max but I would rather it be cheaper if possible. Thanks for any help !
  8. Overwatch all the way baby (I do have 1000+ in csgo though...)
  9. Case: NZXT. S340 white Mother board: ASRock z170 Pro4 Keyboard: IBM model M (original cord with no USB adapter) OS: Windows 10 I found that my front audio panel had stopped working (playback wasn't working but recording was) So after messing around in a few settings and checking Realtek I found it just wasn't seeing anything as plugged in so I shut down my computer and made sure the wires where plugged in fully. They where plugged in fine (from the case to the motherboard port that reads HD Audio). So I started my computer back up and found that my keyboard no longer works(the Num Lock Lights up but no input is detected) and both of recording and playback no longer register on the front but they still work in the back. I plugged in an old usb keyboard and now I'm here. I'm going to go check the bios and update drivers but I figured I would ask too in case there is something I have not thought about yet. Thank you for any help ! Edit: After restart the keyboard started working again... must have been a fluke (audio is still not working)
  10. What would you suggest ? also his old psu was a kentek 680. according to tom's hardware its a nono
  11. He went with the cx600. I know its not the best but he has a lower end rig so it should be able to handle the load easily.
  12. I already got him to order a better one and in his defense he didn't buy the psu he got the whole computer off a friend that was upgrading.
  13. its all in the title. His pc was in sleep and as soon as he hit the space bar sparks flew out the back where the PSU is. We unpluged everything and I took a look in the PSU it had a fuse that was blown and nothing else smelled or looked damaged. Is there any chance it will boot up with a nice power supply ?
  14. So whenever I am playing a game or doing anything CPU intensive, if my AUX cord is plugged into my monitor it will make a squeaking sound usually sounding like coil whine not very loud are there any free options for me ?
