I have Time Warner and had to experience something similar with them.

When you use their service they send a configuration file to the device to the modem that causes limits if the device isnt in their "approved" listing of devices. I had a modem that when I had cox would get me 500mbs but with TWC I would get under 100 while paying for 300. I called them up and said that they purposely have the right to add that restriction because it isnt their hardware and I had to go and buy a new modem under their "approved" listing. Weirdly enough, that worked out just fine to my huge annoyance.

Sounds like some kind of configuration problem indeed.
Maybe ask your ISP for the settings of the serial connection so you can set it manually?

If I remember from another topic I was in last night, when your modem gets provisioned on a network, they need to push a file to the modem with configuration information that tells the modem how much speed is allocated to it through the network as per your plan.

In this instance, it sounds like the file they're pushing is just downright incompatible with your device and it forces your device to operate in safe mode or something.

I'm not sure how the netgear modem will fare in the process either, but at this point, it's 50/50 when it comes to picking your own modem for a network provider.

    Interesting read.

Some have accurately predicted that we will continue down our current path of focusing on entertainment rather than plain Jane reviews. We'd like to be something of a "Top Gear of tech"

But that doesn't mean that we are (or have ever been) in the business of spreading misinformation intentionally.

I've always believed (though I've seen some recent evidence to the contrary, which blows my mind but isn't my problem..) that if you lead your audience in the wrong direction enough times you will eventually turn around to find out no one is following you, and that's the way that I have, and will continue to run Linus Media Group.

Agreed. Numbers don't mean anything, it is the experience that counts. A guy can have as much fun playing a game at 720p 30fps as another guy playing it at 1440p 60fps.
I can't play a game at 720p 30fps though because I am spoiled and used to the whole 1080p & 1440p 60fps thing, so any game I play at lower than 50-60fps I'll be irritated by it. Doesn't mean that I am superior to those playing on consoles, doesn't make me a better person or smarter, its just my preference.

youll be fine. my 7970 is running at 2.0 4x and barely bottlnecks. 3.0 8x has literally no impact on anything I believe.

You won't notice any difference, even at 4x you would be fine (if nvidia allowed it).

push/pull on a thick rad makes a big difference.  Also, fuck practicality, there is nothing practical about liquid cooling, everybody at some point should know that.  You do what you want because you want to and that's all that matters because you're paying for it.  I personally think the rig looks pretty sick man, go with the smaller res and link it up and let it flow!

Damn and I thought my rads were thick  It does fill out the primo quite nicely though. Good idea going with the smaller res although it may look a little off compared to the size of the rads. Do you have a build log I can follow this is a pretty nice rig.

@dasr1985 watercooling is plenty practical my 980s run 30 degrees cooler overclocked on water then stock on evga acx2.0 coolers. (35-45 load vs 65-75 load)

With a lot of the programming software and rendering I'm doing in school I decided to go with a pretty decent upgrade on my rig.  I still game so that's not to say this is a system dedicated 100% to just development.  If I ever get to that point professionally you can bet I won't be using a single system for multiple usage at that point.  With that said here's what I'm upgrading from.

Case:  Corsair 750D (at some point I should probably just get a larger case...lol)

    Intel i5 2500k - O.C. @ 4.6 Ghz

    MSI Z77A-GD65 Motherboard

MSI GeForce GTX 660Ti Power Edition (x2)

Corsair HX 750 Watt 80 Plus gold Pwr Sply

Western Digital Caviar Black 500 Gb HDD

    Hitachi 644 Gb HDD

Corsair SP 120 fans for all radiators

    EK XTX 360mm Rad

    EK XT 360mm Rad

EK Water Blocks for the GPU's and CPU as well as EK rotary fittiings

Yes, I have U-verse and the Motorola NVG510. I believe what you are looking for is called bridge mode, where your router is connected "behind" the U-verse modem and essentially does all the heavy lifting. I followed this guide: (http://www.ron-berman.com/2011/11/24/motorola-nvg510-help-page-for-att-u-verse-users/) Scroll down to question 6 for the bridging guide. And finally, if you need help, let me know as I am currently running a Linksys E3000 behind my U-verse modem.

I say they should film it outside in a cardboard box with a old 1.3 mega pixel camera and built in mic, nothing like watching crap-ily filmed and sound show.

Instead, move it to a sound studio with all the lights and art background they can afford and filmed on the most expensive cameras. Go broke or die trying

Perhaps I am just an only fan (with this idea) who remembers the early days of the Live Stream before the WAN Show (Which is great btw), but I wonder if we could bring it down to a vote from the forum to suggest that Linus Media group bring back the "garage" back drop into their new WAN show room.  Referencing some of the old videos in the archive the idea that they bring back that look and feel (of the garage days) to the new WAN show room would be kind of bad ass in terms of viewing it like "We are always improving but we are still the same" kind of way.

What I mean by back drop is literally just the colors and the wall that held famous items as well as the random bookshelf with random stuff on it.  Idk, just my .02 and thought I'd share.  I remember being excited gaming on one monitor and watching the live stream on the other at 11pm (CST) on Friday nights all the way back to when Linus was streaming from his house all by himself!
