ITS-PARTY-TIME reacted to i_build_nanosuits in R9 390 Gigabyte vs MSI vs Asus vs Sapphire..which one to buy
bought it second hand...and it's not bad to the point where i would return it anyways...yes some are quieter, they also run a few degrees cooler...but it's not a deal breaker anyways i like the look of the card in my system and i have it setup so that it run 1440mhz with no voltage bumps so i'm fairly happy with it... the guy had it for a month and he won a titan X in a contest (true story, he had the titan X in his machine when i picked up the card i've seen it from my own eyes)...fun fact: he was blind on one side and he played CS:GO at 720p on a acer XB270HU 1440p 144hz monitor talk about a dumbass and he told me he was not able to get all the performance out of his titan X because according to him you needed 32GB of system memory in order to so...strange bird this guy
on a side not, i highly suspect ASUS did a sloppy job with the thermal interface material...i would probably get better temps if i could remove the cooler and put MX4 in there or something...but i can't because there is a varranty void sticker on one of the screw holding the cooler in place.

my 980ti strix is not faulty but i'm not getting very good temps considering the size of this cooler i was expecting better temperatures on the GPU (75c playing witcher 3 at stock voltages with 55% fanspeed...fairly hot) and the fans on the card feel very cheap to me and they are also loud...anything past 55% is not tolerable as far as i'm concerned...50% fanspeed is decently quiet but the temps again will rise in the 75c zone...with an overclock i've seen this card reach 80c...so it's not that great...i think it looks really good though but i was offered a 980ti classified for 60$ more and a MSI gaming 6G for 40$ more than i paid for the strix...both of which i feel would have been better choices. -

Since the topic is only about an AMD card, there's no need to mention that. Thanks for the correction though.

ITS-PARTY-TIME reacted to Curufinwe_wins in what am i looking at here, tried OC 5930K to 4.0
Non-standard intel sockets (like ASUS's OC socket) often have issues with software overclocking. Try doing it via bios instead.
Looks like the 4.0 worked as it should.
4.5 @ 1.3 V should also work (assuming vccin is in line with 1.90-2.0 V) if not, 4.4 @ 1.3 is a shoe-in.

my parents fell for the higher tv refresh rate pitch. and they payed 100usd more than the tv which i recommended and thought was better. but for gaming? higher is where its at, im going for 3 1440p 144hz 1 ms tn (sigh) gsync monitors.

The real world moves at only 24 fps so your extra hz is waste of money.

Movies have motion blur which decreases the visibility of the individual frames. You can see it when pausing the movie when motion is present.

Yeah, plus it's more cinematic than 60fps and above. The lower the refresh rate, the better!Said no one, ever.

Now that i got it i will never go back to a phony 60hz screen, trust me when you get a high refresh rate panel it feels so much nicer omg this smooth cursor gives me a boner
games feel more fluid and smooth and lifelike
the cursor feels so smooth it is awesome
just by a high refresh rate monitor and there will be no need for a social life or to go outside.
