Big-G reacted to dizmo in GTX 10XX series
Depends where you live. If you're in the US, well...you do know what MSRP stands for right? Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price.
They can charge whatever they want.

Big-G reacted to Megazero in NVIDIA will bleed us
At least in my country every custom card so far, even the EXOC from Galax have higher price than the FE one. And due to GTX 1070 and 1080 being run out everywhere it's hard to even check what's their normal price

They're a little on the high side imo but I think you're taking this way too far... calm down for everyone's sake

I really don't know why I even deal with these threads anymore.
Supply and demand are a fucking factor.

This has had a good run but it's time to put on the breaks so we don't go off a cliff.... locked.

Big-G reacted to Flavlus in Surface Pro 3 runnning Overwatch ... WHAT ?
Today i decided to try run Overwatch on my old surface pro 3.
I managed to get it to run on my SP3 i5 with 4gb ram at 30 to 50 fps on all low settings.
Not bad for a tablet essentially to be running this game with no dedicated graphics. the game was very playable ... not very pretty but quite smooth. I think Blizzard will optimize the game a bit more as time goes by but so far so good.
The fps almost never dipped below 30 in my 1 hour or so of gaming. I only ever saw it dip below 30 in game once or twice in massive team fights with huge explosions and even then was still fine ... 27-29ish fps for a couple seconds. Good job Microsoft on this amazing tablet/pc thing!

Big-G got a reaction from Jamesbgee in Best 1080 version to upgrade to?
At the moment, based on known clock speeds, I'd vote for the Asus ROG Strix 1080...

Big-G reacted to stconquest in R9 470 to be only 5% slower than the 970
Who is this "we"? I sure as hell do not want a $500-$800 (CDN) GPU. I will never spend that much to play a video game. "We" don't see the value in buying an expensive GPU. "We" have learned that developers make game to saturate as much of the market as possible, not to appease the small percentage of consumers that spend $500+ (USD) for a single PC component to play video games.
AMD is competing at a price point that "we" appreciate.

Funny how Nvidia's blamed for high prices, but we want their products and there's no alternative...
It's because AMD fails to compete at the level we want that Nvidia can dictate the prices. Competition at the high end will bring prices down. Nvidia is doing what any company without any competition and high demand will do... allow the prices to climb. Economics 101...
It's not Nvidia being bad... they are following the law of competition... AMD's the one that's lost the fight.

Wait for Vega10 and see how it is. Usually AMD > NVIDIA.

Big-G reacted to Jack Longman in Did you guys find the 480 benchmarks depressing
So many people keep saying that you'd be stupid to buy say a gtx 1080 when you could buy 2 480's and get similar performance. There's still alot of games that don't support crossfire properly and if you're going for a smaller build you would only want 1 gpu. The 480 is alright for the money i suppose but it's in no way a contender with other new cards

Big-G reacted to patrickjp93 in R9 470 to be only 5% slower than the 970
If you really think AMD isn't rigging the effects in GPUOpen, you're crazy. Everything will depend on ludicrous amounts of unnecessary Asynchronous Compute and Shading.

Big-G reacted to Humbug in R9 470 to be only 5% slower than the 970
everybody keeps touting 'async compute'. It seems to be a major buzz word right now.
I know that it can be a big factor in some games, but honestly wouldn't many games see no gain? Wouldn't it only be games who have adequate compute workloads that benefit?

Big-G reacted to DildorTheDecent in 1080/1070 BIOS Spiking
from MSI website showing card clocks per bios.
two BIOSes compared.
The retail card ships with the "modded" bios as a separate profile which the user can activate.
Unfortunately that stupid gaming app needs to be installed. Instead of a physical BIOS switch like everybody else.

Big-G got a reaction from suchamoneypit in GTX 1070 Vs RX 480 CF
Remember, all current 10x0 benchmarks are being done on fairly immature drivers... driver maturity will increase performance a lot more...

Big-G reacted to handymanshandle in GTX 1070 Vs RX 480 CF
That was what I was concerned with comparing a CF solution to a single card solution. While in games that support CF would benefit from two cards, and CF scales better than SLI but it still isn't free from issues. If AMD had a card to compete with the GTX 1070, I might buy it because I kinda like AMD and it would work better in Linux.
But when I do build my PC (sometime this fall) I think I'll probably go with a GTX 1070.

what I'd like to know if the reviewers who gets review samples are actually aware of this trick
