for 1080p I'd go with the 1070

I heavily disagree with this idea. When I bought my 780, everyone was recommeneding the GTX 770 for 1080 gaming, nearly 3 years later my 780 (Before it died) still hold up well in games whereas the 770 would force me to drop settings from Ultra to medium / high to maintain high framerates.

Getting a card that can do 60fps in current games with most of the settings maxed out is not a good idea unless you are keeping to a budget
I keep on saying that with the new consoles more GPU power is going to be needed to keep playing at high graphics settings and if the GTX 980 can't push 60FPS in every game out now, it is only going to get worse in the coming year.

If OP is has a budget, ofc the 480 is a great idea, but if there is more money that can be spent and want something to easily last you a couple of years, the 1070 is the best bet atm

Also RX 480 GDDR5 runs at 13.7 GHZ

It isn't made for everyone. You don't see every one driving a lambo. One could argue the same thing

Looks like a lot of complex angels and corners to make and likely quite a bit of hand assembly. 
 
You have to remember they have to pay somebody to put it together. Then there's raw material cost + machining of them. And at the end still make money. 
 
CaseLabs cost $170-$700+ (USD) and they don't even come assembled, nor are they made of 1/8 inch (3.175mm) aluminium .

Or I could spend a lot less on a Tesla and accelerate at the speed of a Bugatti. A lambo doesn't cost $150,000 either try $250,000-$5mil

I would assume because nvidia is ahead of them in every way. so they had to do something really good to gain more people buying their cards.

Pay attention here... they released a stated MSRP of $599 for the GTX 1080.  Then they release their shitty reference design for $699.

seriously? 9 days dude. And all this BS ends. It's pure AMD marketing, they're using your willingness to fall for rumors and an NDA to boost the hype for the RX480. Remember how the Fury X was going to overclock? How it would beat a Titan X? Remember how AMD fans didn't hold AMD accountable for those rumors?

I also want to leave this. Nvidia has offered one of the largest improvements in performance, and like before I'm sure the pricing is short lived.

That said, the 480 looks beautiful, and if the 460 finds its way into a LP, half-width version, I'm buying one. Like, now.

OP, get the best graphics card you can afford. I used my 980ti for months before getting a better monitor. And ignore the people talking about the RX 480, as no one knows how it will perform until AMD lifts the NDA.

The Razer Blade - they lowered the price and (mostly) upped the specs... But does it still feel like the best choice for a Windows-based laptop?

Is there anything OFFICIAL from Nvidia or is it all WCCF-tech type articles? Surely they would of mentioned that in the keynote where they launched the 1080?

Pst.....you do realise that while Nvidia supply the initial BIOS that its up to the vendor to tailor it to suit their product? Why do you think it is that you can't take a reference Nvidia bios and flash it for example to an aftermarkert GTX 650ti or GTX 970?

Then I call double the bullshit. Nvidia vBIOS locks the 860M to a max OC of 1215 core. Anything more without a modded vBIOS IS. NOT. POSSIBLE.

There never was an official statement, there were only articles like the ones from WCCF, which is funny because there are articles a month old that mention Asus showing 1080m, including WCCF article 2 weeks ago, but everyone seems to have missed them... somehow.
