Update : Wires, Sleeving, and Some Vinyl goodies

wow this build is almost done, but is it just me or do the final finishing touches seem to take the longest!

the time has come to tackle the wiring.

Anyone who has ever built in this case knows first hand the challenges with cable management. So for this build, like most of mine, i started fresh

i used UPC's 16 awg wire, original molex crimps and housings, Aegis sleeve , and cable combs. nothing but top notch stuff!

first up i is the GPU wires. fortunately the MSI 660 only uses 1 6p so that was a quick and easy task. i crimped one side, installed the wire then ran the path i wanted it to go. Once i had the length i crimped the other end, rinse and repeat.

Same Process with the 8p cpu

Notice the 24p in that photo, it works but it wasnt as clean as i hoped. So i made a 2" "stubby" extension and then a proper 6" extension to finish it up. this keeps the business end looking as clean as possibly.

Once all the wires were measured and crimped it was time for sleeve!

The Aegis sleeve is awesome, its not too loose (mdpc) and not too tight (telios) plus it looks sooo good, Enjoy

I also took this time to sleeve the Fans

My friend andrew over at v1tech just got a vinyl cutter so i sent him some fonts and my ideas and he cut them up! Installation was a breeze

first up was the evga i/0 plate, i removed the original logo and applied the cut out. (the green matches a lot better in person)

next is the powersupply! I did something similar to Perfectly Pink, and knew i wanted to add that little extra detail to this build. it turned out great

first i removed all the stickers from the psu, trimmed the transfer paper to fit. applied it

    Peel

    Profit

I think thats all i have for today, i still have some more cables to sleeve (sata, pump, i/os) install leds, fix the two tubes since the cables caused the res not to fit where planned, fill, leak test, drain, fill and final photos!

First custom build, always wanted a stylish, quiet PC. Modified the case, removed the HDD bay, larger holes for water cooling, various layers of soundproofing material, very very quiet when the fans are set to the correct speed, just need to figure out why Asus Xpert 3 doesn't remember the settings. No internal HDD, just the 512GB M.2 SSD. Will update when cabled into the desk and connected to monitors.

    Asus x99 Deluxe
    Intel 5930K
Asus GTX 980 - connects to 2 apple displayport monitors and LG 32 inch widescreen - painted white LED green removed using Dremel sanding disk - good clean result.
Noctua fans (painted matt black), used for case and rad
Corsair Dom Plat 32GB (8x4) 2666MHz - with lightbar and painted gloss white
    Samsung XP941 512GB
Asus Thunderbolt Card - connected to Lacie thunderbolt RAID
Corsair H80i - mounting painted white, one of the quiet H80, I have another that makes an audible hum
Cooler Master V850 modular - was small enough to fit in case by millimetres

Hey Guys! After patiently waiting for the past few months for Galax's GTX 980 Hall of Fame cards to come out, my all White & Black X99 themed build has finally been completed! This build  is aimed to be as "elegant" , clean, quiet , and aesthetically pleasing as possible. As far as what I'm going to be using this build for is high - end 1440p 144hz gaming at Ultra settings on my RoG Swift, as well as video editing and rendering work Im currently working on in College. Anyways I really hope you guys enjoy this build just as much as I do! Cheers!

It's been awhile since the first update and I have done quite a lot since then. After returning the two 980's I decided to buy just one during the wait for the 8gb versions.  Still planning on watercooling the two 980ti's when they arrive. While I waited for the watercooling parts to arrive I got started on sleeving the cables. First time sleeving but still happy with the result. After the much anticipated frozen cpu order I spent a fair bit of time planning how the loop with work.

First things first I tested all the hardware and everything worked, Yipee!

I cleaned the CPU with some alcohol before applying the heat sink

Examining the 5960x, noticed these marks on the sides...

    The expensive stuff..

    Post!

I used 550 paracord in white and black with matching heatshrink. This is my first time ever sleeving and it proved to be quite time consuming. I started with the cpu cable and then worked up to the 24 pin. I was really happy with the cpu cable but much of the sleeving came short on the 24 pin, I’m ok with that since it won't be visible anyway. As of now I given up heatshrinking the 24 pin. It was such a bitch getting the heatshrink over the paracord but I might do it before the loop is put together.

These were all the tools I used along with a jig I made to cut the heatshrink fast and precise. Worked perfect!

I did the CPU cables first. Really happy with how they turned out

Here's the 24 pin. It's not "combed" all pretty like yet

Took a look at the white led fans, making sure they won't be overpowering my room with light polution. The first fan is the stock fan, which I will use as a intake next to the MB. The second is the fans I will be using for the rads, the Cooler Master Jet Flos. I like the look of these as they are not super bright and with 95cfm they should make things ice cold if needed.

The stock 140mm fans are really bright, This wil be mounted on the inside of the case which should provide decent illumination of the components.

I can't wait to see the performance of a combined 475 cfm. However they will spend most of their time at lower rpms.

Took almost two weeks for the Frozen Cpu order to get here but when it did I ripped it open like it was Christmas. The quality of everything was up to expectations, but a few fitment issues with the Primochill fittings on the res. The Alphacool XP3 Light CPU block didn't come with the right stuff to mount to the X99 deluxe motherboard. It only came with bolts were ment to mounted through the motherboard. The MB didn't allow this because there are not holes through it. Luckily I ghetto rigged it with some mounting parts from a old heatsink and some washers.

All the watercooling goods in their full glory

    Inspected by MIC

Practically a nanometer of distance between the fittings

The reservoir! Kinda wish I went with something a bit different due to the fittings being to large for it. Now I have to use the fill port as a intake or flip it upside down.

AlphaCool VPP655, I sleeved the colored cables on this too

Silver Kill Coil. Should I put it in the tubing or the reservior?

    Alphacool ST30 240 and 360mm rads

This is a really silly question. Ignorant even. You don't have to be good at something to enjoy it. And you don't have to play one game either. And if that someone spent $2000 it clearly wasn't meant for cs go alone. Bf4 is very demanding. That would be like buying a lambo to drive it around the neighborhood.

Because whether you're good or not should not be allowed to be a factor when deciding the desired graphic fidelity.

I finished my white themed build! I painted the motherboard with white plastidip. I was going to paint the GPUs too, but decided that some black would look better. I bought everything from NCIX and Memory Express and price matched everything because I hate shipping sensitive parts. The cables took the longest time to arrive. I was originally planning to sleeve my own cables, but I checked every computer shop and nobody had any cable sleeves, so I had to buy pre-sleeved ones from corsair. Sucks living in Canada sometimes.

This build was inspired by the Asus Sabertooth Mark S (http://rog.asus.com/384782014/asus-tuf-motherboards/overview-unboxing-tuf-sabertooth-z97-mark-s/). When I started this build, that motherboard was still only a picture on the Asus twitter. Even though it is going to be released soon, I wouldn't buy it because its almost $200 more expensive than the Mark1.

    (finished prior sorry)
Hi guys.  The purpose of this project is to build a fully fledged gaming rig, in a 13 year old case which you could probably find at your local junkyard. The computer must be a champ in three categories; Power, Cooling and Silence. All thise while looking completely stock on the exterior.  I started this project a few months ago, but am still awaiting a few parts. All picture have been taken with a non-smart phone sorry.   Specs: 4770K With 360 Loop MSi GTX 770 oc in SLi (+Backplate) Gigabyte Z87MX-UD3H PNY 4x4GB 1600 Kingston v300 120GB SSD (windows, high priority games) Seagate Barracuda 2TB (Steam games, a lot) FSP Aurum 750M GOLD     First off, Heres the beauty. Ah, that windows ME sticker means business folks.   How did such an old case stay so clean?   This was used to line the interior panels of the sides, top and front. Even the drive bay covers.   Thanks to MNPC tech, I could stencil early!   Ready to cut!   Some early parts!   Just some little tweaks...   The cut is made....and the case is Powder Coated!!   These are some neat doodads  And this will be a challenge..   I love velcro dots <3 (for filter, ssd, and panel)   This Pantyhose dust filter for the bottom of the case is a little ghetto   More parts!! Cable extensions are silverstone btw! They look like shoe laces. I didnt even have to mod for this hole!   More of these haha Exciting.... Turned this reservoir into absolute ghetto Things are falling into place The front panel cables have been heatshrinked too.   Neato fan controller to be chopped up!   Ghetto, but temporary!   Far out its sexy!   First card and ram arrived!   A bonus swag sticker to go with my celeron D!   Now for a start at putting her together!   And the final shoot!

    I'm baaaaaaaack.

OK, here's what I been up to.

Wired up the secondary power button. God knows, I've needed it.

Made a power header splitter from a fan splitter. (the one in OP)

    Connected it up.

And then I set about installing Yosemite. God, what a finicky git it was.

    So, short step by step.

    Download Yosemite from App store.
    Download the latest Unibeast.
    Format USB stick with MBR.
    Install Unibeast, build stick.

    Reboot PC.

Set up USB stick in bios to boot.

    Then type.

    -v cpus=1 npci=0x2000 kext-dev-mode=1 (important for Yosemite it seems) GraphicsEnabler=Yes

Then go ahead and install, graphics @ 640x480 flashy heaven.

Reboot. Booting from USB stick type the same string as above. Crashes when setting up the account, reboot.

    And in !

Find and install the Bonaire Radeon 8000 driver (two kexts, I now use Kext Magician)
    Reboot.
    Same string again.
When screen goes black remove and then replug the monitor cable.
Install the Rampagedev 10.10 driver (kext wizard or his own tool) install the Rampage kexts (voodoo, fakesmc etc and the CPU driver).
    Reboot.

    Now boot with -v npci=0x2000 kext-dev-mode=1

Install Clover EFI version. None of the others work. Add flags as per Rampage.

    Annnnnd.

All I need to do now is learn how to write some perma boot flags for npci and kext-dev-mode.

Job done, not bad for a rank amateur.

And we draw ever closer. First up I want to mention my poor thumb...

But enough of that gay banter ! let's get right down to business.

So it was time to mark up one of the final panels.

And using the dimensions I had previously marked..

So it was back to the rotary tool to create that panel and adjust the psu box.

Just remember, the word of the day is clinical.

But hey, let's not get carried away. It's not done yet. I still have to make the floor pan.

But man alive, I just can't get enough of this shit.

OK so here is Mr Skull..

And around to the business end. Note the fan controller has been modded into the back of the case shell. This controls the rear exhaust.

Look in the background... IT'S ALIVE !! ALIVE I SAY !!!

Oh yeah. Remember those floating fans in the roof?

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM.

    OK PSU box done.

All I had to do today was basically clean off some of the overlapping glue (scalpel) and give it a wipe over before fitting the power button.

Very happy with it. The last one I made was a bit messy so needed wrapping. This one shines

Am growing a little concerned that the PSU simply has too many wires in it to make the side panel close, so I may have to open it up and remove some of the runs. Either that or cut them off close to the PSU and cap them (easier).

Ignore those wires coming out they have to go up under the motherboard as there is no cable management for the EPS.
