Linus, have a quick question for you.  I have enough to either buy a GTX 1080 Ti or a GTX 2080/1180 (whatever they name it) or buy a mobo, CPU & RAM, but not both...comes down to money.  I'm a gamer who plays the latest games BF1, Overwatch, Battlefront II.  My current specs are and MSI Z97 Gaming 5 mobo, i7-4790k
@4.6GHz, 32GB PC3-10700 (667 MHz) and a MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Gaming 8G O/C Core +175 Memory +475 Core Voltage +75 Power Limit +126 Temp Limit 92C (maxed out).  I have a Corsair Gold HX 850 Modular PSU, 2 SSDs and 2 7200RPM Hybrid Hard Drives, 1 LG Blu-Ray Burner and a CM HAF 912 2x 140mm Front, 1 140mm side (intake), 1 200mm top fan (exhaust) 1 140mm back exhaust fan. CM Hyper 212 EVO HSF.  Oh and I have a 27 inch 1080p Dell SE2717Hr IPS panel.

I'm waiting for Intel to release their new CPU's and Z390 mobo's along with AMD's Ryzen 2.  I'm primary a gamer...once again, so I'm looking for the best gaming CPU, which will likely be Intel, but if it's AMD by chance, I'll for sure buy that one.  I think next year's Zen2 architecture could really give Intel a run for it's money and have a good chance at beating them in gaming if I'm remembering correctly about Zen2 having a 7nm process for the CPU.  Sorry, been awake for 24 hours.

So, I've seen benchmarks showing the biggest improvement for gamers is either a fairly high-end GPU with a Gsync monitor, which I don't have, but it's new.  My old one went out last November during Cyber Monday.  So, even an i7 2700k can be within 10 to 20 FPS using say a GTX 1080 Ti vs a i7 8700k with a GTX 1080 Ti.  So, the 8700k is obviously faster, but in most games, the 2700k kept up. It seems like GPU would be the part to upgrade if you had to upgrade a component, it would be the GPU.  What's your opinion on the matter?  Thanks in advance!  Sorry for poor grammar and/or spelling.

    with a 1080p 60hz monitor you're really better off just upgrading that instead of going all out on a GPU since an 1180ti/2080/whatever would be just lazing around half the time on 1080p.

    Thanks Densetsu, I doubted he would, but then again you never know.  I've spoken to Kat Gunn directly and I don't even subscribe to her channel on Twitch.  I follow her, but I've never donated any money.  She's answered me directly via Facebook too and I'm a nobody, don't have a channel or anything.  That said Linus has a higher profile than she does, but ya never know.

    Anyway, thanks Herman.  Yeah, I'm undecided, but upgrading my CPU, RAM and mobo makes the most sense and even if I do that, I'll still get a framerate upgrade.  If I had a 2K monitor, it would be a complete no-brainer about getting a GPU.  The higher the resolution, the less effect a CPU would have.  I just wanted Volta so bad and those tensor cores, but I can always get that later, but as long as I have this 1080P monitor, I should be fine for another 3 years at least with my 1070 GTX, wouldn't you say...if not longer?  Thanks, Majestic for the response.

    Oh...OK, gotcha.  In a thread with more group chatter.
