You don't need a VPN or any fancy trickery to get a game off of Amazon if you don't live in Murica. All you have to do is make an account with a US address and it will work just fine, I'm from South Africa and I have bought lots of games off Amazon already.

Windows 8.1 will fix many of the problems people have with windows 8.
 
I love windows 8 and I don't miss the start menu at all, for me metro basically is a start menu that looks a lot nicer.

My vote is on 8.
I'm one if those "weird" people that enjoys it more than 7. It's faster, has a ton of improvements under the hood and excellent UI tweaks (Metro is debatable, but the file copy UI, the task manager, Aero refinements etc. are imho a large improvement).
I was very sceptical and never got a liking for the betas and previews, but after snatching the full version at less than $20, I really loved it. I did use classic start for quite a while but found myself catching a liking for Metro.
The only thing I'm not too keen on is the fullscreen apps, but those are nothing you are forced to use.

I also prefer 7, because I ran into too many app compatibility issues with 8. Other than that, I don't see a reason not to go with 8.

EA has really started to earn back my respect with the humble bundle, however the games they recently added to the bundle are just plain weak.
