  1. Looking at Backblaze as an option. Which NAS OS would be a good choice? I see FreeNAS and OpenMediaVault mentioned many times.
  2. Nah. I don't have a PC, only a laptop. Would be building this NAS for our home back in my home country.
  3. I am a newbie with configuring a NAS since this would be the first one, but I like to tinker with a lot of things. As for the budget, I want to go as low as possible initially, then upgrade/add things later on. No need for 10gbe since it is only for our home. 6-8TB initially is good. Also looking for a reliable RAID setup since I will be backing up some important stuff and photos.
  4. Hello everyone! I would like to ask for advice. I was planning on having a server/NAS for our house. I would like to use the server/NAS for the following: File and Backup Server Media Server (at most 3 simultaneous users, 1080p content) Remote access to the files on the NAS Personal Cloud Storage Automatic Backup of specific folders in the NAS to the cloud via google drive I want to ask whether it is better to buy a pre-built NAS box, or DIY a NAS? For the DIY route, which os would be the most ideal to use? I thank you in advance for any insight!
  5. Hi guys! I would like to build a budget NAS, media/backup/printer server, running FreeNAS (or other better alternative). It would be servicing at most 5 PCs/laptops (for NAS and backup use), and 3 smart TVs for streaming 1080p content. I would like to ask for hardware recommendations for this use case, considering the lowest cost (and further upgrading when the budget allows it), whether specific hardware or just specs I would need. Thanks!
  6. Hello there! Our office is using Microsoft Outlook 2007 for managing emails. I have this problem where I use 2 PCs with different email addresses set-up and don't have time to check both. How do I automatically forward emails from one account to another? I read about the Rules & Alerts option, but I don't need every single email forwarded. Let's say one PC has john1@email.com set-up, and the other PC has jane1@email.com. Now, sometimes, an email is sent to john1, and cc'd to jane1. But I need the emails that were sent to john1 only to be forwarded to jane1. Is there anyway to do this in Outlook 2007?
  7. Hi guys! I'm planning to build a new rig, both for gaming (Warframe, some AAA games) and productivity (Engineering stuff, photoshop, etc). Although, productivity is more important to me than gaming. I'm looking for suggestions on the cheapest mITX case (less than $150) that can be hand-carried on a plane, and has support for at least one 3.5" HDD, and at least a modular SFX (or better yet, SFX-L) PSU. Any suggestions? PS. DIY cases are not possible since I don't have the right tools, and also I'm not good enough for that yet. Thanks!
  8. I'll try this. Thank you so much! Although unfortunately, the bios in this laptop does not allow me to disable the boot SSD. I guess I'll remove the SSD itself.
  9. Since I got the laptop last year, there are a lot of files on the data drive. Is it possible to just partition the data drive to make room for the linux installation?
  10. Hi guys! Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but oh well. I have a few questions about dual-booting Windows 10 and Linux that I hope to have answered. I am using an HP Pavilion Power Laptop 15-cb002ne which has a 128GB boot SSD and 1TB HDD. I am running the preinstalled Windows 10 Home edition and would like to dual-boot Linux (haven't decided yet between Ubuntu and Debian), installing the Linux distro on the 1TB HDD. I already saw this video tutorial regarding dual-booting linux and windows. Now, here are a few questions: 1. Is it possible to adapt the methodology using a drive separate from the Windows 10 installation? If yes, do I have to do anything else to make it work? 2. Let's say I want to remove the linux installation to make way for hardware upgrades, how can I remove the linux installation without messing up the Windows 10 installation? If there is another topic which discusses similar questions, I would appreciate the link. Thank you very much!
  11. Hi! I would like to ask for a recommendation on a prebuilt NAS that can do automatic backups of folders on a drive, or at least the whole drive. Also, it would be nice if it can support multiple user accounts with private folders. 2 drive bays would be the bare minimum. I would also like to keep cost to a minimum, but am willing to pay a cost justified by its features. Several options would be appreciated since I am from the Philippines, and choices here are not that plenty. Do also advise me if an old pc with freenas and new nas drives (WD Reds) would be the better, cost effective solution. Thanks!
  12. I think Taran would be pretty satisfied with this mechanical keyboard for his macro needs. Though the group buy is not yet live.
