  1. When it freezes, does it unlock a few seconds later or are you forced to reset? Does it BSOD? What is in the system event log before/after freezes?
  2. The lenovo touchpad drivers for 8.1 are horrible. I have a P40 Yoga that I really wanted to use 8.1 on, touchpad driver was so bad it was a deal breaker.
  3. You can create a Windows To Go installation on a portable hard drive (warning it will wipe the drive) using an ISO and Rufus. That will work well enough for testing.
  4. I think the logical next step is to create a Windows 10 fresh install on a different storage drive and see if that causes the same error.
  5. When you say you got the driver, did you incorporate it into the WIM? Do you load it at boot? Also did you re-create the USB bootable drive using Rufus or the media creation tool from MS?
  6. Have you tried plugging it into different USB ports on the motherboard?
  7. My first thought is a problem with SLI software optimisation for those games. What's your CPU usage/clock speed when you get such low framerates?
  8. It would be obvious, if you look at Windows Update and there are pending updates for things like "Intel - System." Also, did the system recently get a feature update? Try disabling Fast Startup in the Power Settings.
  9. First thing that comes to mind is GPU power delivery. Can you double check/reseat the motherboard power inputs for ATX, CPU, GPU? Also check GPU power input.
  10. Windows Update will sometimes misconfigure the drivers. I would start by making sure there are no pending updates, especially for chipset and GPU, or OS.
  11. I am trying to get my Aero 15x 8750H running Windows 8.1. I've managed to easily install every driver except for the video drivers. Nvidia provides a Windows 8.1 driver for the 1070 MQ, but the Intel graphics driver is stopping me right now. The Nvidia driver requires the Intel driver to be installed first, since it's using Optimus. The procedure for doing this seems to be: 1. Get the appropriate Windows 10 driver 2. Edit the .ini file to add compatibility for the operating system, see https://forums.intel.com/s/question/0D50P0000490FBYSA2/no-intel-hd-graphics-620-driver-for-windows-81?language=en_US for more details. 3. Install the driver after switching off driver signing 4. Profit I'm getting stuck at step 2, particularly the services section. Currently I have the below: [iCFL_w81.Services] AddService = igfx, 0x00000002, igfx_Service_Inst_DS AddService = cphs,, CP_HECI_Service_Inst_DS AddService = cplspcon,, CP_HDCP_Service_Inst_DS AddService = igfxCUIService2.0.0.0,0x00000800, CUI_Service_Inst_DS When I attempt to install the driver it says "A service could not be installed" or something along those lines. Any help would be much appreciated.
  12. Which motherboard do you have?
  13. Is your CPU bottlenecking it? Only other thing I can think is that your BIOS setup is incorrect.
  14. You could get a second hand workstation notebook but it will be heavy. I can't think of anything else around the $350 mark that would allow much in the way of gaming.
  15. For the avoidance of doubt, this is my task manager as we speak.
