sorry for the late reply i had something to do. The screen connects physically via a USB C cable and it shows up as a COM device so its not just another screen.

Had the exact opposite experience. Bought a supposedly quality DP 1.4a (~30 bucks on amazon) cable (which worked perfectly fine on sub 4K res). Once I got my 4K monitor I used that cable but it wasn't able to reach 4K 144hz (max I got was 4K 120hz). So I switched to the cable that came with the monitor and 4K 144hz no issues.

You also tend to run a lot less data trough those cables.
 
Another thing with DP is that there is no DP 1.2 calbe or DP 1.4 cable (even though the marketing material says so, they just mean it will run from those ports)... you got version of ports on your monitor and graphics card but all cables "are the same" but differ in quality. If you get one of the old ones then it will not meet the standard for your requirements for example.

Look at it this way, how much do you value your time at? Multiply that hourly rate by the difference, if the time spent on troubleshooting and frustration is greater than the difference in cost: worth the money.

Yeah the other 12 dollar one says 2K at 165Hz but i need it at 170Hz and whatever future monitor i may have so i think ill get the 35 dollar one.

Board partner cards (especially evga) are overclocked from the factory, however the founders editions are not. you should try what the previous guy said to do and to downclock the memory and core clock.

that may look ugly, and you can find creative ways to support the one side, but generally unless if the sag is pretty bad it wont damage anything. If i where you id go find something black to support that one side but that can also act as a decoration that i could put in my computer.

if you computer had lost power, then the first time you turn it on after it gets power again will make it do that.

I know some computers, if they are new enough, can have their settings saved to a config file that you can put on a USB, however this is slightly different for each computer.

as an IBM fan that is the coolest thing i have ever seen and thats after i already have like 15 different IBM machines

Since the seasonic 650w psu cost almost exactly the same as Corsair 850W 2018 80+ Gold RM850x and there is no one definitive answer here i'll just go safe and buy the Corsair 850W 2018 80+ Gold RM850x.

Yep, it is very easy to turn that off. So that is not a problem.
