Charle692's Achievements

  1. I'd say Ruby and Python are good places to start as they are clean and easier to read. Ruby specially I might be a little bias towards it, but by learning how to use Ruby you can quickly pick up Ruby on Rails if you ever want to take a dive into web development.
  2. I was first introduced into the programming world with Visual Basic however I found that it wasn't really useful for me in the end since my University went straight into Java and oop. I wish that they would have started with something that would help me as my education progresses. As a recommendation from me, I'm going to be a little different from everyone else here and say, if you plan on going to post secondary school in software engineering or something then I would learn what they will be teaching you in one of the schools you would most likely go to. It would give you a nice headstart and allow you to concentrate more on other courses than learning a programming language for the first time.
  3. I like how power efficient the cards actually are, while being some of the most powerful cards to market. I also like the 3 fan design, will allow you to push the cards pretty far while remaining quiet and cool.
  4. sorry mate, posted this already here http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/229394-students-only-world-free-development-package-from-github-and-partners/?hl=students But nonetheless this is a great deal
  5. Yeah just a reminder to everyone you have to use a school email. Or else it just won't work.
  6. Hard to tell. The University that I currently attend teaches us Java as our first programming language. The reason being is that it covers most programming concepts that you can use in other languages, such as classes, methods, object oriented programming, threads, etc... Now that being said you could also start with something like C++ or C# as they would offer a good stepping stone as well. It's entirely up to you. I have relatively no experience with any of the C based languages so I can't say much more than that about them. I would personally recommend Java to start, It's given me a good base to learn many other languages with ease such as Ruby, php, html, css and Python. If you are a visual learned you might want to take a look @ The New Boston on Youtube, he has plenty of Java videos and from what I can see there's a beginner playlist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hl-zzrqQoSE&list=PLFE2CE09D83EE3E28 And an intermediate playlist if you choose to continue with it. If your someone who prefers learning through reading I'm sure there are quite a few good books out there however I'm quite uncomfortable recommending anything as I have never learned programming through a book. Maybe someone else can recommend something? If not here maybe in the coding section. When it comes to coding, there's no better way to learn than by getting your hands dirty with some code. Practice is the best way you can learn how to code hands down. Here's a neat little site where you can quickly get a feel for what Java is all about and see if you want to proceed further. http://www.learnjavaonline.org/ Hope this helps.
  7. I would say that since your your projects to date consist of customers through the word of mouth then maybe you can just continue advertising through word of mouth and get rid of the website. It doesn't seem like it directly brought in anything.
  8. You could maybe try some Ruby? It seems like you've tried most of the languages i'd recommend. Ruby is a very simple and clean language, which might make it easier to learn for some people. No need for semicolons or brackets. http://www.codecademy.com/en/tracks/ruby But I do agree that coding is not for everyone. I've tried to teach 3 people about coding, and none of them had the mind nor the patience for it. However I'm happy to see that you gave it a good go!
  9. Yeah I would say it most definitively takes some time getting used to. You also have to find what you truly enjoy. For some it might be C#, other it might be anything to do with web development. You can't like all coding languages. Taking a class might help as well or even just learning with a group of friends can go a long way.
  10. It should work just fine, as long as your email has @school or something then all is good. I got an email within 10mins.
  11. Hey coders, so found this pretty sweet development package put together by GitHub and partners. Unfortunately this is for students only, and you will need to provide you school email address as validation. The package contains a GitHub micro account for free which gives you 5 private repositories, 100$ worth of free cloud hosting from Digital Ocean, Unreal Engine 4 and much much more. Come check it out @ https://education.github.com/pack hopefully some of you can benefit from this sweet deal. Happy Coding!!!!!
  12. Would love to win this. I like how dbrand skins can protect your phone without all the bulk. Cases are overrated. Also I like how the Z2 has good battery life. Good Battery life is just too hard to come by now days.
  13. Yeah your probably right but considering this is a deals thread I figured I would change it just for those (if any) who actually believe that it was 840x2160.
  14. Yup sorry everyone, it's fixed. 3840x2160 was quickly posting this at work.
