lorekeeper reacted to Cacao in Dual Monitor Noob Here. Please Help!
    Here's what you do:

    a) connect the second monitor to your graphics card (use the best cable you have available, best option is DVI)
b ) right click on your desktop and go to "Screen resolution"
    c) Here you should see your two monitors, drag the boxes so the setup on the screen looks exactly like the one in front of you, in my case it looks like this:

If one is higher than the other or is on the wrong side make sure to adjust it accordingly. You can click the "identify" button on the right so you can see which is which.

    d) Next make sure you have the following config:
-Click on your main 1080p monitor and me sure it says "This is currently your main display", if it isn't, check the little box.
-Click on your secondary monitor and under the "Multiple displays" menu set it to "Extend desktop to this display"

Once you've done that hit apple and you're done. You can now drag windows from one display to the other and whatever you put on your second display you'll be able to see once you go in a game on your primary display.

    Hope this helped!

    4 pcie 16x lanes (pcie 3.0)
8 quad channel dim slots (think 2011)

ssd's that i dont have to worry about not being able to write to at some point (the 1 thing putting me off ssds)

    cheap 10gb ethernet+cards
a case that more effectively uses the available space (if its a big space full of air, thats a waste)
an xigmatek elysium that can take a 560 rad in the top with a seperate basement to take another 560 rad in there.

You should invest in an SSD for your build, it will make a gigantic difference. Also you can easily get by with a 500w psu.

As we all know Radeon 9970 (R9-970) is going to be announced 25.9.2013, and price is under 600€
If someone was thinking that why it is named "volcanic islands" well here is the reason: 9970 is having 300w TDP and  because of 28nm transistors 9970 is going to have huge die size.
Huge TDP means that it is doing to draw lots of power, output lots of heat and run very hot.
(The thermal design power (TDP), sometimes called thermal design point, represents the maximum amount of power the cooling system in a computer is required to dissipate).
So as assumed that card cant run cool, so prepare your waterblocks!
    This might be refrence cooler:

So it is going to be about 5% faster than 780, in 3Dmark we see that GTX titan scored 4600 points and 9970 scored 4816 points.
Its no doubt that the Hawaii GPU would tackle the one and only GK110 core from NVIDIA. GK110 stands strong against its competitors from AMD in the HD 7000 series.
Both the GeForce GTX Titan and GeForce GTX 780 do well in performance although they do cost alot too. The end point would be what GPU offers more value to consumers. If AMD is going all out to tackle the GK110 with their Hawaii GPU, then they also have to keep the prices under control, and price estimate for 9970 is 600€.
The performance looks much more impressive when comparing generation vs generation (Southern Islands vs Volcanic Islands). The Radeon HD 7970 scores 3300-3500 points in the same benchmark so this is a major increase in performance on AMD’s end. But it could also stir up some questions, if the chip is going to perform with such tendency, would the cost of the graphics card end up higher around the GTX 780 levels or lower. Price wars between both rivalries always benefits the consumer. But we have seen what NVIDIA did with their current generation of graphic cards. The GeForce GTX Titan sits at its $1000 premium price range knowing the fact no card from AMD can compete against it. AMD can do the same with their card, keeping its price adjusted at a concrete spot for months until NVIDIA comes out with something new, Maxwell.

Do get SLI. Two cards are better than one.
Yes, you will face driver issues from time to time, but mostly (85%+) Games that would actually need/use SLI can use it.
From the review of 4K gaming, I saw that, almost universally in AAA games, both Crossfire and SLI had gains in FPS ranging from 70-110% per GPU added. Which is awesome.
However, the real issue with Crossfire/SLI is framerating. AMD has recently fixed that, while Nvidia has always been better at handling it. The only thing about Nvidia cards, that I've seen in my research of it, is that they tend to get higher FPS/lower frametimes than AMD.... until they are put under heavy load. Then their FPS drops and their frametimes spike. Whereas AMD cards are pretty consistent now with the new drivers.
Not trying to talk you out of Nvidia, just letting you know what I've seen. SLI is worth it imo. More FPS and more cards to handle the heavy loads. The heavy load frametime spikes wouldn't matter much to you as you would have the GPU power to push through them mostly without incident.
    TL;DR: Get SLI.

indeed, however would you mind sharing which game it is, certain specific games (mostly mmo`s ect) are heavilly cpu limited- especially when there are many people being displayed on the screen at once. In that situation the difference in cpu might correspond to a more significant fps diff.
