I'm more concerned with the fact that as of right now my mobo doesn't have windows 10 drivers.
I hope asus will make them available right before or soon after the launch.
I don't think win 7 or 8 drivers would work.
I knew that ram speeds don't always yield real world differences, just wasn't sure how much of a difference.
I noticed there is also a 1866Mhz kit but seems pointless.
I'll go ahead and order the 1600Mhz kit.
Thanks everyone, greatly appreciated.
I need to replace the memory currently in my system.
I'm running on a P67 - Asus maximus 4 extreme with a 2600K.
Now I know the board will only support up to 2133Mhz oc'd, and that 1600Mhz is the default supported speed.
My current set is 2x4GB 1600.
So I have got my choice down to two:
1) Kingston HyperX Savage 16GB - DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9 @1.5V
2) Kingston HyperX Savage 16GB - DDR3-2400 CL11-13-14 @1.65V // DDR3-2133 CL11-13-13 @1.6V
They are both very close in price.
Which should I go for, any suggestions?
Thank you.
So using Valley and Heaven, I got it stable with no crashes or artifacting at +160 Core and +450 memory.
So finally I tested Firestrike and of course then things broke. After turning the memory back down to +0 and then realising the core was causing issues I moved it down to +150.
The core seems stable now at a boost of 1529Mhz. Tomorrow I will work on the memory again, hopefully aiming for around the +300 mark at least.
EDIT: Now have everything stable and working great at 1542 core, and 8002 on memory.
Do I do that while Valley is running?
Or up by 20mhz, apply, open Valley, run for a while, close, repeat.
And what would be identified as unstable?
Artifacts, bsod???
