  1. The hard drive bay slots out like the CD drive, so I can just unplug the HDD thats inside and replace it with the SSD
  2. Then I can place this into the desktop and it should work fine? Thank you for your reply What makes you thing it wont work? Thank you for your reply
  3. I am sorry but could you be a bit more specific? I am a complete beginner at this.... What process are you referring to?
  4. I have recently purchased an SSD (Samsung EVO 850 250gb) to boot Windows 10 on and run a few programs such as Cubase and other music software. At the moment, I have a 1TB WD Blue HDD in my desktop, which is about 70/80% full. I have never used an SSD before, so this might be incorrect, but... I am aware of the technique of cloning the HDD to the SSD using a number of free software, in which I would have to reduce the HDD disk size to "fit" the SSD. However, I have an old laptop, in which i can easily access the harddrive bay. So...could I put a fresh install of Windows on the SSD on the laptop, and then simply plug the SSD into the destination desktop and change the boot settings for the desktop to boot from the SSD. Because this would save me having to reduce the size of the HDD and would be a much easier process (if possible).
  5. Thank you for your help, I think it's best to wait till the end of the month and see whats available 2nd hand/or see if the budget can be increased for one of the new cards. Have a good day mate.
  6. I understand the RX480 is coming out soon, and unfortunately that'll be out of budget...but what sort of cards will be being sold to make way for it? (If that makes sense). I've seen cards such as the r7950 and gtx 760 being sold for roughly £80/90.
  7. This is only my second post...so please be gentle. I'm in the market for my first ever graphics card, with a budget of around £100/110, but i'm willing to stretch to £120 MAX if the difference is substantial. I am open to used deals on eBay. I want to have an enjoyable playing experience on modern AAA titles, such as GTA and the like, but I mainly play sports titles, basketball, football etc. I have an acer 1080p monitor, I have no idea of model, but for arguments sake, its just a generic 1080p screen. If theres anymore information thats needed, please ask, because I am a fish outta water here. HUGE THANKS! My Current Build i7 3rd Gen 3770 CPU - 3.4Ghz 16GB DDR3 RAM Corsair V550 PSU
  8. Thank you so much guys. you've been a huge help. Have a great day!
  9. So would I be pushing it a bit with my PSU? As this is a big investment for me, I dont want to risk damaging my computer (or new graphics card), so would using my current PSU and an adapter be risky?
  10. Sorry for the late reply, thanks for your help. If at all possible, I would like to try and just invest in a graphics card, but if my PSU will restrict me to getting what I need from a graphics card, then I will follow up on your recommendation. I must add however, I have no idea what a fully modular psu is and the aesthetics of a psu don't matter to me in the slightest. But thank you nonetheless.
  11. I found this image of the P I'm presuming (probably incorrectly) you mean the cables coming out the psu? There's a 6 pin connector and what I presume is a 4 pin. There's an additional cable that is similar in width to the 4 pin, but thinner is size....I have no idea if that is relevant or not
  12. It is a CWT (Channel Well Technology) GPA450P I fear this maybe a dreaded "potato"
  13. I presumed that the extra would be better, but I wasn't sure. Thanks for clearing it up.
  14. Wow. Thank you so much for you're responses. Thank you for the suggestion, I shall look into it Seems like this is a good bet, please correct me if I am wrong, but would a 4GB version have more longevity than a 2GB? Although it may not seem it, but for me this is quite a hefty investment, so I am looking for something that will last a couple of years or so, more if possible I can check now, I presume it won't be fantastic though, the PC is a refurb...so it could be anything! Will post when I have an answer for you. HUGE thanks to everyone though!
