  1. FUCK! Linus is making a bag RIGHT AFTER I found and bought this Not Quite Linus laptop bag at best buy the otherday GOD, IT EVEN FITS MY T480 PERFECTLY!
  2. I was concerned that Linus would be actually mining crypto, but that heel-turn into folding@home was sort of relieving. I think that maybe the video should have been a couple minutes longer to better (re)introduce folding@home. And maybe seeing if that actually heated the room more.
  3. Summary After lengthy internal litigation, ICANN's "Independent Review Process" recommended in favor of restoring price controls for .biz, .org, and .info in the final 171-page declaration for Namecheap, Inc., versus ICANN Independent Review Process. Formerly, the organization capped fees a registry operator may charge to a domain registrar, such as Namecheap, for each .biz, .org and .info domain registration. For clarity, a registry operator is the company who owns the database for a particular TLD, a domain registrar is the company that actually sells individual domains; some operators also run a registrar for their own TLD. Despite the decision, the IRP does not have authority to reverse or annul the removal. Quotes My thoughts I never thought that Internet Infrastructure news would both slide into my awareness, and keep me captivated enough to understand (barely) what exactly this means. It's a little offbeat, but it just feels sort of important for the future of the internet. I got to learn a bit more about the inner workings of ICANN, too. I think this might lead to more affordable domains in the future, especially if the public support for price caps grow. However, I feel its also totally possible that this doesn't change, or domain registrars use it for a larger profit with markups. It's good to keep up with niche news like this, especially since DNS is an essential part of the internet. My thoughts should be taken with a grain of salt, I'm not a professonal by any means, i'm just a sleep deprived nerd. Overall, I am very happy to see that ICANN wants to strive for transparency, especially since it maintains core internet infrastructure that literally billions use daily; but I am also sort of worried that its own dispute arbitration system does not have the power to judicially review the Bylaws, it makes the process seem a bit toothless. I'd need to do a bit of research on why they changed this back in 2002 to really understand why. (I hope I'm doing this right!! First time actually submitting an article here) Sources https://www.icann.org/en/announcements/details/icann-receives-final-declaration-in-the-namecheap-independent-review-process-05-01-2023-en https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/irp-namecheap-icann-final-declaration-redacted-23dec22-en.pdf
  4. updated spec sheet again with all of the storage i regularly use

  5. 10 years of LTT! good lord! I still remember the absolute hype of the big office move and whonock's raid getting trashed
  6. Samsung Odyssey G7 for 600 dollars... or MSI Optix MAG274QRX for 500 dollars... hmm

  7. This was covered on Techlinked. However Why not a testing video? I've heard people have said that GameStream is better than Steam Link for usage/latency/whatever. It would be nice to have hard data to look at.
  8. I'm trying to find the best drop-in upgrade for my current main monitor that I use for gaming. I currently use a Pixio 27" curved 1080p 144hz monitor, and it has mostly served me well since 2019. The contrast apparently could be better, and ghosting was a bit apparent until I screwed around with some settings. I want to find an upgrade to this monitor that meets and/or exceeds the quality of my current panel, but still be able to mount onto my two monitor hydraulic mount. I was thinking of perhaps a larger panel, however my current stand is only rated up to 27" monitors. However, its possible that I could cheese it a little since my second monitor is now vertical as my dedicated "discord and web browsing" monitor and the stand is rated for panels up to 14.3 pounds. It was a cheap stand though, so perhaps I should also just consider getting a much more capable dual monitor stand (how in the hell do i look for one). Preferably, I don't want to spend more than 700USD (give or take shipping, taxes) on the panel. I'm unfortunately stuck in a low paying job (and soon to be full-time student) where its not feasible to slap down thousands of dollars. I also want the monitor to last for a very long time. I want to have a higher PPD than what I am currently using, but I don't think i necessarily need 4k. I tend to prefer high refresh rates over high resolution.
  9. I've updated the spec sheet with my current build.

  10. Honestly, I only deal with Redbubble for its stickers. Anything else can be dubious as hell in quality as this video shows. I've never looked for a backpack in this range. What even is out there?
