  1. Hey all, hoping to get some info here from anyone in Canada with knowledge on this. I'm presently with Telus, and I'm eyeing up the Pixel 7 pro. It's available on sale for $879 CDN at Best Buy here. I have found someone online with a P7 Pro, unlocked, sealed in the box, but was purchased from Koodo. Can I expect any difference in the overall experience? I know in general it'll be the same, but one thing I like to use is mobile hotspot. My previous unlocked Pixel 6 was purchased at BB and it allowed me to put a hotspot shortcut in the notification bar at the top so I can just expand, tap, and it's on (rather than going through the menus). I have heard that some carriers restrict things like this, and just wondering if anyone has any experience in this field. I had previously owned an S22 base model from Telus and they did not have an option for the hotspot in this same location, and wondering if one purchased from Best Buy etc, and not from a carrier, would have. Thanks!
  2. Hey all, Looking for a pair of decent earbuds for the gym (my basement) lol. I live with family and there's a baby in the house now so my portable speaker isn't really an option. I'm in Canada and both these headphones are $199 each. At regular price, obviously the Jabra's are the better choice. But right now, the Jaybirds are on sale for $129 and the Jabra's are $179 on sale. I know Jabras are often considered the best or among the best for the gym, but with the $50 price difference I'm wondering which is the better choice. I'm not a huge audiophile though I can pick up on some differences now and then. I listen to mostly rock and metal, and generally will NOT be cranking max volume in them. If there are other alternatives I'm open to it. I sweat a lot, so ones that are gym oriented (waterproof/resistant, dust resistant, and a decent build quality) are preferred. I also prefer not to have the wire running between the ears as it gets in the way. Thanks!
  3. True I guess I should mention that. it's a basement apartment. There is a window down there and so it can get kinda bright actually. Not overwhelmingly bright like you might get in a living room though. There's also a curtain down there as I personally prefer a darker room.
  4. Looking for opinions on which TV to get. I'm in canada and boxing week prices are: - 55" Sony X900F - $1299 - 55" Samsung Q8FN - $1899 - 55" LGC8 OLED $1999 Im a fairly casual gamer on a PS4 Pro. I play sports games and shooters, mainly Farcry 5 and BF V. I also am getting Red dead 2. I watch a fair bit of Netflix and really, not much else. I do not have Cable TV I read and can see that the image quality on the C8 is amazing, and am not concerned with burn in. Just not sure it's worth the investment for me. Thee Q8FN is really a glorified LED, which makes me think I may as well save $600 and get the Sony if I go LED, or spend literally $100 more and go full OLED. The other part of me thinks, I could get the X900F and with the price difference, get a soundbar, stand etc and still come out cheaper than OLED. The biggest part of me hates buying mid tier electronics and just always wants top end even if it's not really necessary. Thoughts?
  5. Hey all, I'm reviving an old YouTube channel of mine and am deciding on 3x1080p monitors or a bigger, better single monitor with a cheaper side monitor. If I game in triple monitor mode and record, does most recording software just record the center monitor? This is what I want, just to be clear.
  6. This may be a dumb question, but I'm looking to switch from using my TV as a monitor and getting a triple monitor setup. I'm on a bit of a tight budget so the monitors I'm looking at all have HDMI but no DP ports on them. My GPU is a GTX 1080 that has 2xHDMI ports and 2xDP ports. If I use a simple HDMI to DP adapter, will that affect image quality at all? Any noticeable latency?
  7. Hey all! Looking for some wireless earbuds for the gym. No running or anything (or minimal anyways) mostly lifting. I have over ear headphones and they are just too heavy for my head after a while. I know the Jaybirds have sound isolation which is what I want, and the Bose's technically doesn't as they're geared more towards runners/cyclists so they can hear some ambient noise. Has anyone got these Bose headphones and can tell me if it would even drown out ambient gym noise? Like their music, people talking, etc? It's important as there are some people at my gym who I really, REALLY would like to drown out :-D Jaybirds are probably a better bargain for me but the proprietary charger is really a dealbreaker for me unless absolutely necessary.
  8. Hey all, Looking for opinions on a good wireless keyboard, preferably a rechargeable one but doesn't matter. Casual gaming and home office use will be the main uses for it. Nothing competitive or anything. Some editing and such so looking for a decent typing experience. I have a HTPC build so I'm either at a desk thats a good 10 feet away or on the couch that's about 15 feet away so corded isn't an option. Been leaning towards the Logitech K800, or the solar powered K750 since its cheaper and will never need to be charged... Any thoughts? Open to suggestions of others as well. Thanks!
  9. Fair enough, but another part of me thinks if I took a 1080 for $200 cheaper, and just turned off features like AA, maybe turn down shadows etc, there's no reason I won't get 60+ fps at 4k in almost all games.
  10. I would argue that a single GPU is in general more stable, but not as strong as 2 SLI's depending on the title... But I was mainly looking for more answers to some of my other questions too :-D
  11. Hey all. Working on a new PC build with a GD09b HTPC case, Ryzen 1700, and ASRock X370 SLI Killer motherboard... Looking at a GPU to get and torn between 1080 and 1080TI. Possibly with the intent of SLI in the future but right now just the single GPU. Thinking with the limited fan configurations and space, a blower style cooler will be best, specially if I go to SLI, but open to suggestion... There's the founder's edition of course, but EVGA makes this one: https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA7RD61T1877&ignorebbr=1 Looks to have similar dimensions as the Founders edition. Can anyone give an honest opinion if it would be any better a cooler, and if there's any reason it wouldn't work with my new setup? PC Part Picker doesn't have it listed at all, for any configuration, so I just want to ensure there's no reason it wouldn't fit before I buy... And if it's better (or the same) as a Founder's Edition.... Also, open to discussion about a 1080 vs 1080TI. I play a lot of Indie games but a fair share of AAA Titles too, like GTA V, Witcher 3, Fallout 4 etc. PC is going to be hooked up to a 4k LG 65" TV :-D EDIT: Should also mention I will be doing some video editing and whatnot as well. Thanks!
  12. Moreso looking at peoples experiences with temps and overall performance
  13. Hey all, Looking for your opinion on the best blower GTX 1080 or TI. Theres the founders edition but other manufacturers have their own blowers too, though not many... Asus has their Turbo for example. Won't be doing any overclocking, or very little of it. Doing a HTPC build with either a GD09B or smaller, so having a blower style GPU is the way to go I think... Thoughts?
  14. Hey all, Looking at doing a build for the living room as a gaming PC. Going to be getting a single GPU (1070 or 1080) and possibly SLI in the future. (This is NOT intended to be a discussion about the use of SLI). There's a few mATX motherboards that support SLI, but I'm curious if anyone has done SLI in an HTPC case. Currently looking at the RVZ01B or RVZ02B, or the GD09B, all by SilverStone. They all seem to be able to support a multi GPU setup. I just don't know if, cooling wise, it's a good decision or not. Don't want to choke any of the GPU's. If anyone has any other recommendations I'm all ears. I just want a smaller form factor case, and one that preferably be horizontally positioned, like a console can. Thanks!
  15. I have the LG 34UC88 and Love it. Its 60 hz but I've over clocked to 75hz and it runs great. Can go higher but I didn't want issues. A so glad 1080 is overkill though for 60-80hz 1440p Ultra wide though.... Let alone 2 x 1080s
